We wanted to visit a heuriger on a recent trip to Vienna for a more authentic experience. This place is very cute, didn't seem touristy at all (but the staff was more than willing to help us). We tried the heuriger wine for that year which was great as well as a 2nd type of resiling the waiter recommended which was my favorite. We also ordered the fried chicken to share which was so yummy - crispy and juicy. We selected a few snacks from the counter deli section as well like some cheese and veggie dishes. This was a great meal. We struck up a conversation with a local who spoke English, and he was surprised we had found the place since it's not a known touristy one.
Side note - we had attempted to go to schubel auer which is next door. The staff member told us they were closed for a private party and offered to walk us out and point the way to kerlinger. Would be nice except for he walked us up the path to one side of shubel and pointed us down the hill to kerlinger was on the complete opposite side. Luckily we have gps and found the place after wandering a bit. It was literally next door to the schubel path if we had went the other way. We didn't appreciate being misled by shubel so please go to kerlinger instead. read more
