Everything went smoothly until my son could not tolerate the nitrous oxide either. We decided to have the procedure done in the operating room. That's when things fell apart. First, I was told that it takes 30 days to get authorization from the insurance company. I work in a surgery office and know that most insurances have 72 hours and at most 2 weeks to get back to you. The authorization wasn't even started until I called to check on it over 30 days later. The procedure was denied by insurance but I never got a call from the office, just a letter from the insurance company. The office did not check to see how we wanted to proceed. We would have paid out of pocket. We chose to take our business somewhere else and have recommended to friends to do the same.

Now Most people postpone the dentist because its like walking on to a car lot with a dime in their pocket and driving off with the hottest car but a loan beyond their means and a new huge debt. They find the experience similar. I do to but you have to know your plan. So I get the email to fill out my forms prior to showing up and I so I do that. When I get there I have to file out the forms anyway. So, Why did I spend 10-15 mins filing out the forms 6-7 nights ago? I guess Somehow I have two patient file numbers maybe. On to the visit, the X-Ray technician Chyna was amazing. I started to gather back hope that this visit would be amazing. She was polite and sweet. Chris the hygienist also amazing. I knew I needed some intense suggestive work done but he again was polite and kind. I never was made to feel bad or uncomfortable. After he finished the Dentist entered. Dr. Moses advised me of what I knew already and suggested a few things I was unaware of. However she was more focused on discussing the shoe shopping she had done with her assistant. This discussion took precedent over me in the chair. Now after several minutes of their personal discussion while they updated my chart and she would look in my mouth for a short moment, I was sent out to finance and scheduling. This is where it is always fun. I'm a smart shopper at the Dentist so I request everything be sent for Pre D prior to agreeing to pay for anything. My visit was mainly due to severe tooth pain in which three teeth are actually causing the issue. So if you can surmise the amount of pain I would be in. So the scheduling/finance guy suggests my focus has to be the cleaning and we need to it set up today and it would cost over $600. Pump the brakes, I told you I work for the insurance company in which I have insurance with and I process the claims and that my friend is wrong. Hence my request to send the Pre D! Now let's back to the main concern and the fact that I am in immense pain which is being caused by not one but three teeth. So let's focus on a real severe issue. Now that we are both on the same track the next available appointment is......not until the middle of February and in order to schedule that and lock it in I have to pay half that charge. Again I work for my insurance company and know cost and you give me an amount well above what I know to be true. So no I am not paying that and are you kidding me that if someone is in severe pain, can't sleep, needs three teeth addressed you schedule them out for 3 weeks? Very bad experience overall. Extremely disappointed! This is the very reason why people postpone dental visits and wait until the very last minute you look at people like $$. You showed no concern for my pain or suffering, you wanted me to get a cleaning done as a priority for over $600 first. You put upgraded crowns on an estimate rather than talking to me about the basic and the upgrade options. Your Dentist was focused on shoes and shopping well I sat in the chair in pain. Is this really how you want any patients visit to go?

this place is truly the worst. we switched insurance about a year ago and this place is overpriced…read moreas heck!! not only is it the pricing that bothers me, but the absolute mess of a wait time. one time i had an appointment scheduled for 9 in the morning, mind you i live forty five minutes away, i was ten minutes away id say this was like 8:05 because i was gonna pick up something before hand, and they cancelled. i was truly disappointed. when i do have appointments there, which i had one just a few days ago,, staff is decent i guess, but after my cleaning they told me to wait in the waiting room to schedule my next appointment. i waited ONE HOUR. AN HOUR. just sitting in the waiting room just to be called. horrible place.

Not only are…read morethe office staff friendly and accommodating, but the dental assistants who do the cleanings are wonderfully patient with the very youngest patients, and those who have special needs such as my nearly adult son with severe autism. My kids actually look forward to going to see the dentist without being bribed by toys, etc. I especially enjoy scheduling our appointments to occur concurrently so we can get in and out in the minimum amount of time. The later hours maintained by this office also allow me to schedule even on school days without having to pull my children out of school early.

I came across something unbelievably annoying this morning...being punished for being a healthcare…read moreworker. I had a normal teeth cleaning scheduled for this morning. When I went in, they took my temperature and asked me if I had come in contact with any covid positive patients. I said, not in about three weeks but I am a nurse so I cannot guarantee. (My employer is listed on my file!) I work outside of the home and therefore the risk is there. I explained the use of PPE at my place of employment, and how there are better processes in place than most and definitely better than some Joe Schmo hanging out at wegmans without a mask. But don't you worry, she "respectfully declined" seeing me today because she just cannot be sure. Are you flipping kidding me?! How is anyone 100% sure?! Why don't they send these screening questions before we get to the door?! What's the moral of the story? If you want your teeth cleaned, answer the questions with a lie to make them feel better. I appreciate her respectfully declining because I will be respectfully taking my business elsewhere and respectfully letting everyone I come in contact with the absolute hypocrisy of this establishment. If you're afraid to work with the public, then maybe don't open?! CNY Family Dentistry...not a good choice. Side note-this was after I had to remind them REPEATEDLY to stop changing my appointments without asking me. I would get reminders of appointment changes all throughout the year and when I would have initially scheduled all three kids to go at once, I would end up spending three hours at the dentist office due to their poor scheduling abilities. They are "out of network" with all insurance providers and what this means is you will need to pay out of pocket at time of service. They will invoice insurance on your behalf, and you will get reimbursed by insurance. Beware that LJBS will invoice at the full cash rate not at the agreed upon contract rate. In our case the discrepancy between full cash rate vs agreed upon contract rate amounted to $250. So not only did I need to pay $650 out of pocket for 3 kids, for a normal run of the mill dental cleaning and check up, I was only reimbursed $400 from insurance. I've lived in 3 different countries, 7 cities - I've never come across a practice where you must pay out of pocket first. So if you're ok potentially being reimbursed less for a general service that is fully covered by insurance for basic needs, the hygienist is awesome.
