Today, after he was already numbed and on laughing gas, the dentist suddenly announced they were pulling the tooth. I refused--he starts school tomorrow--and the dentist then refused to fill another tooth we had discussed, telling me to "find a different dentist." My child was left confused, scared, and half-numb for no reason. This is not how families should be treated.

Poor Communication and Last-Minute Treatment Changes…read more Yesterday, I spoke directly with the pediatric dentist about my son's treatment for 2 teeth. The dentist said there was a possibility he might need a baby crown for one tooth, but after I explained that I didn't want that, he told me it would most likely be possible to be left the tooth alone instead and that a crown wouldn't be necessary. But the another tooth need the filling. I repeated to him that it's going to be just the filling and no crown. The dentist confirmed. Today, when I brought my son in for the scheduled filling, the dental assistants said it's going to be extraction and filling, so I explained to her. She said she will let the dentist know. RDH had already numbed his mouth and given him laughing gas before the dentist came in. Only then did the dentist tell me that they were going to pull the tooth. I told him I did not want the tooth pulled the day before my son's first day of school and he didn't mention about the extraction in our conversation yesterday. The dentist then said he would not be able to fill the second tooth we had discussed and told me to "find a different dentist and get a second opinion." I left feeling upset and frustrated by the lack of communication, the abrupt change in treatment after my son was already numbed, and the way my concerns were dismissed. Parents deserve honesty, respect, and clear information about their child's dental care.

I called and made the appointment but was told someone would call me about whether or not my insurance would be accepted, prior to the appointment. A few hours before the appointment, which was going to be almost an hour's drive away, I still hadn't heard from them so I followed up. The guy who answered the phone had an attitude from the minute he answered the phone and seemed to take everything I said as a personal insult. He then wanted to argue with me about whether or not I was being "rude" to him rather than just answering my questions about whether our insurance was accepted and whether I needed to drive an hour for our appointment which was just a few hours away. He told me someone did call me (no one did, and why would I be calling if someone had?). He then said they do not take our insurance! When I told him I'm frustrated that I could have driven an hour and then this would have happened at the office, he acted like it was my fault. I'm glad I didn't go and I would never want my child to go to such an uncaring and unkind place.

I appreciate the effort to get the job done but the wait time is extremely long and unnecessary…read more the need to overbook and see the maximum amount of patients you can in one day outweighs the quality of your facility's service By a long shot! Rushing your employees to work at that pace will cause mistakes and poor performance to the patient. My child was the last patient and the dentist was so quick to finish the work that she tried shoving the new temporary tooth in my child's mouth multiple times so my child got home and immediately complained of his jaw hurting. The pain my child is going through could have been avoided and the wait time we did was the last straw for me to ever want to take my kids again. Mind you I am always ending up paying out of pocket for what ever they charge that my insurance didn't cover which is totally fine but really to pay for that type of work and experience and professionalism is disappointing. I would like to say some employees there are very professional but some still need some reeducation on proper customer service and professionalism. Smiling and whispering and taking the time and effort to make the customer feel more uncomfortable is not something that should be happening within your facility. I gave my review because the customer is always right And sooner or later the same complaint will be resolved.

When we still lived in the Central Valley, I routinely took my two daughters to see Dr. Law over a…read morefour year period and he is a truly awesome pediatric dentist. There are really only two other pediatric dentist offices in the Hanford-Visalia area that I had heard of and, from what I had heard, I really hesitated to bring my kids to those other offices. My oldest daughter had eight small cavities when she was five years old. (And I fully acknowledge that I and her father are to blame for giving her too much juice and lemonade as a young child and we were neglectful in flossing her too-close-together teeth.) So I wanted to find a dentist where I would be allowed to be with her during the treatments and Dr. Law's office was the only office that allowed this. They also use nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") to keep children calm during the procedure rather than some other type of sedative and the nitrous oxide seemed to work well for both of my kids when it was needed. He did the treatments over four separate visits, fixing two cavities at a time. I preferred this because, even though it meant several return visits, each visit was less than 30 minutes at a time and I think it was a better option compared to one prolonged, possibly traumatic experience. The office setting is very kid friendly. We've never had to wait in the waiting room for more than five minutes because they schedule patients well, they never seem to over-book their schedules, the staff is efficient, and Dr. Law obviously knows what he is doing and does it well and is good with kids. Kids get to pick two "treats" on their way out--stickers, little toys, pencils, rings, etc. I just have one criticism which is that there is one dental assistant that works there who is not as kid-friendly and personable as the others. But, who knows, maybe she and I/she and my kids just don't click. There's another pediatric dentist in the same office, Dr. Canada. I'm pretty sure he's a nice dentist, too, but since my kids liked Dr. Law so much and were so comfortable with him, I only brought them to see Dr. Law. Procedures in this dental office were not even fully covered by our insurance plan, but I gladly paid the difference because it was truly worth it to get the great dental care in a clean, professional, very well-run office. One of the things our family misses the most about the Central Valley is the privilege of going to Dr. Law for pediatric dental care. He's the best.
