I will be the first to review this school on Yelp. Maybe that is a good thing…read more I will start by saying, I really do not care for any of the schools in South Hillsborough County. What were once A rated schools have dropped to C and other insane things go on. In fact-i have 2 of my kids (the last one is too young) in schools in South Tampa! So I enrolled my middle child in this school for the Summer VPK program. Initially, going there to drop off the voucher (which I want to state for the record, is a stupid system. There are better ways to keep track of things), it was a little unorganized and the woman at the front desk...well, let's just say I am thrilled I didn't have to deal with her past that point (nice but not attentive and made me wait while she was outside making small talk with a parent she knew). Once we were in, I was very pleased. The other lady in the office (the younger one) was very pleasant-always greeted you when you enter the office or in passing on campus. First day of VPK, we were late and when we got there, we were given a tour by a kind teacher. Our VPK teacher, who is a Kindergarten teacher there, was very nice. She always updated me on my child and seemed on top of things. She had her room all set up and prepared for teaching. The campus seems small, I really didn't venture past the Kindergarten hallway. Cute little garden in the middle of the property. Location is convenient and yet also it's pitfall as it is close to Clairemel and not quite a desirable area-but exact location of this school is good-close to Brandon and other things, close to freeway and expressway. The middle school is also right next door so it's convenient if you have a child in elementary and middle, I saw some lousy ratings on Google for this school which are unfair. They didn't write much or anything at all as to why they gave the school a bad rating. Overall my daughter enjoyed her summer there and I have no complaints!

Our experience with this school over the past three years has been incredibly disappointing and, at…read moretimes, deeply distressing. My child has a disability, and we expected the school to provide the support, accommodations, and care he is entitled to receive. Instead, we have experienced repeated failures to properly accommodate his needs. Even more concerning, my child was mistreated by aides at the school to the point that DCF became involved. No child especially a child with a disability who depends on adults for support should have to go through experiences like this at school. Parents should be able to trust that their children are safe, respected, and receiving the support they need. Based on our experience over the past three years, I would not recommend this school to families of children with disabilities. I sincerely hope the school takes these concerns seriously and makes meaningful changes so that other children and families do not have to experience what ours has.

One of the local schools located by us when we moved to our current spot! Staff is ok. Front office…read moreis extremely unorganized especially when any type of play, graduation, or activities are going on! Main reason I am giving this school a 2 out of 5 is the breakfast! I walked my kids to school a few times and was ready to sit and eat with them before school started but was surprised when I came to find that "breakfast" is a few "stands" throughout the school where you stand in line and grab cereal or if you're lucky a breakfast sandwich and eat it on your way to the classroom. I'm not too old 28 to be exact but when I attended school and had free breakfast we ate in the cafeteria and it was our choice of hot food I.e. sausage biscuit or cold as in cereal! And you knew when the bell rand to get to class! Now I understand they are elementary students but I did it at their age and the teachers told us when it was time to go to class! I was appalled by the breakfast system! Never had the chance to experience lunch fortunately! But I will say the teachers were good! Specifically 5th and 3rd grad teachers! The front office has a locking mechanism that definitely is annoying but I understand the safety issues! The officer for this school is good! He's one of the reasons this isn't a 1 star! Parking is crazy and the location is OK but the road the school is located on is unforgiving when dropping off your kids!

I don't feel like my son was learning anything while he attended and the behavior of a lot of the students in atrocious. My son came home with stories that made me cringe. The teacher seemed to put forth zero effort and I frequently received newsletters and permission slips days to weeks after they were due. Progress updates were non existent. There was no organization in the classroom or at pick up and drop off. There was also virtually no school functions like dances, festivals or award ceremonies. My child now attends a different local elementary school and I am 100% happier and so is my son. This probably isn't the worst school in the county but I would never consider sending my kid here again.

This school is AMAZING!!!!! My son loves it. He's engaged, making friends, and learning…read more There are a lot of hands on projects during class. Most homeworks are done online where help is available to the child. The principal, assistant principal, teachers are all extremely welcome and there is an open door policy. The school is in a very safe neighborhood and the school is packed with cameras, which is amazing for the safety of the children. Unfortunately a charter school isn't for everyone. If you can't learn to follow RULES this school would not be a good match. If you like to socialize, engage with the child's education and volunteer then this is definitely a great school. GO Lightings !!!!!!

This year my dad told the front office that my little sister was going to be a car rider. When we…read morecame back to pick her up, she wasn't there. She was let go as walker and this was the THIRD time they did this. My father and I didn't hear from her for a HOUR, but she did the right thing and stayed at her friends house. She could have been kidnapped. I was so scared that day and I would have been upset if she was ACTUALLY missing. She's alright right now but it scared the heck out of my dad. Funny thing was no one notified the police officer about the situation. There was a fight last year that my sister saw in the Waterset neighborhood, and a student was hurt. Kids recorded the scene, then our principal told us to delete the footage off our phones. They like to keep things in the school and NOT involve parents. Also, there are MANY teachers leaving at this year, and its only the first quarter!! Even students are leaving. They say for students to have "good minds & good hearts" or say "leadership lives here", but it really doesn't seem like it when they don't do ANYTHING with bullies, so shout out to yelp user M H.(wrote review in Apr 23, 2018 for WCS) for their review, cause its still like this TODAY! Communication stinks bad for my parents and no ACTUAL solutions. It was so bad that the school never reported any bullying to my parents nor did anything about it. I was bullied since 2023 or 2024(grade 4th) to 2025-2026(grade 7th) at THIS school and EVEN if they put them in detention, they'd still bully me like its normal! Trust me, we had so much changes of principals over they years, EVEN THE GOOD PRINCIPALS GONE!!! I may get in trouble or something but at least this is my last week in this school anyways. And for all those people who put 5 stars, I'm just guessing they work for the school and make it look good. If I can give this review 0 stars I WOULD.
