And then I noticed the jewelry, because the last time I visited I was looking for mystery jewelry jars and today I was happy to see five or six baggies absolutely full of costume jewelry that appeared wearable along with beads and watch parts and just everything I could use for crafting and repurposing with jewelry. So, I purchased two jewelry bags and the contents did not disappoint me when I opened them at home. So, it was another productive and great day shopping at Sozo Trading Co. In addition, there is always plenty of free parking and if you have the time there are a couple of restaurants nearby.

They are great about having things in season, although prices have gone up a little in clothing. Lots of name brand items with major savings if you take the time to look. Still, for the last 3-4 visits I have been able to easily snag around 7 items in a haul every time for around $30! They also have a Clover rewards system to get discounts after you purchase a certain amount of items.

First, I love the fact that the proceeds are used for the Jefferson County Literacy Program. The front half of the store is filled with unique and high quality crafted items made by those that are 50+. They even take special orders on items. The back half of the store is an upscale thrift store that consists of name brand clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry. They often place the clothing items half off to make room for more donations. You can find everything from casual shorts and tops to suits and evening gowns for ladies. They do carry baby clothing up to a size 5 or so, shoes, toys, along with items such as strollers, high chairs and playpens. I'll try to summarize all the hidden treasures you can find from time to time with this list: books of all kind (I personally love the children's selection and old cookbooks), albums, dishes like China tea cups and place settings, serving pieces, small appliances, comforters, curtains, furniture, holiday items and various furniture pieces from from time to time. I can't say enough about this place!! They receive so many unique whatnots and unsold items from estate sales as well. The store is well kept and has great prices. You have to drive down a cobblestone street and pay for parking. So to drive all the way there and find them closed when it said they'd be open was frustrating. I understand being a new business owner is hard, but you have to be consistent. You cannot expect people to monitor your social media. That's what posted hours are for. Going to be difficult to sell anything if you're rarely open or not open when you're supposed to be.

I really enjoyed browsing the different rooms . They all were arranged nicely ... some nicer than others. Overall, the prices were reasonable. The staff was warm and welcoming. One thing we noticed right away is how convenient and accessible the store is. There is plenty of parking, and they have both a front and back entrance, along with a handicap ramp. That may sound like a small detail to some people, but for someone using a wheelchair or needing easier access, it makes a big difference. The aisles are also wide enough for a wheelchair, which is not always the case in small specialty stores. The service is prompt, friendly, and genuinely kind. The employees are wonderfully nice and helpful without making you feel rushed. My brother enjoyed looking around, taking his time, and selecting what he wanted to buy. That kind of patient, friendly atmosphere means a lot. The store has an amazing assortment of hobby items. They carry model railroading supplies, model airplanes, model cars, military miniatures, radio-controlled vehicles, helicopters, cars, and many other hobby and collectible items. It is the kind of store where you can go in for one thing and still enjoy walking around just to see everything they have. Homewood Toy and Hobby also has the feel of a place that has earned loyal repeat customers over the years. That says something good about both the store and the people who run it.
