I never get pictures in here because I purposefully like to be present in the discoveries I find. The ladies here were very busy today cleaning up clothing racks and make sure things were presentable, and had friendly customer service. They are great about having things in season, although prices have gone up a little in clothing. Lots of name brand items with major savings if you take the time to look. Still, for the last 3-4 visits I have been able to easily snag around 7 items in a haul every time for around $30! They also have a Clover rewards system to get discounts after you purchase a certain amount of items. read more

This was my first time coming to this location. (I believe) I had some down time so I was curiously looking to see what I would possibly find. I enjoyed browsing although I didn't make a purchase. Some of the prices were a reach while some were reasonable. The store is organized and did not have that obnoxious smell most thrift stores tend to have. Whew! So glad. Where do I start. I am reviewing the Lovelady thrift store in Clay chalkville. They are price gouging while we are in a state of emergency. The gas,grocery and electricity are through the roof. The daughter of Ms Brenda Melinda MeGahee has taken over and they have tripled their prices. This thrift store started to help attics get clean and help those in need get a deal on things they need clothes shoes furniture. I know I have seen it 3 Mondays in a row they are taking the would be 0.99$ items putting them in the back until the 0.99$ Mondays are over then putting them back out on the floor. I have taken pictures and everything. I know I am not the only one noticing this. Yes I am complaining because people donate to help others who can't afford department store prices. This thrift store has gotten so high its now the same or cheaper to go to the retail store to buy things. They are charging 100$ for a lamp. They are charging 40$ to 50$ for a pair of shoes. They are removing items that would be 30-50% off into the back until that color is off sale. I have seen them do this. I am going to donate to kings ranch in Pinson or America thrift from now on because Melinda MeGahee has gotten greedy and that's not what thrift stores are supposed to be about. I pray they get looked into so she can be warned not to be price gouging and charging ridiculous money for things they get FREE!!!! read more

I'd never been disappointed than walking into a business and seeing all the employees not following protocol of wearing a face mask. Came in just to pass the time and I ended up leaving 2min after because I didn't feel comfortable staying inside the building. It a shame because I had always shopped at Lovelady in the past. They have pixie glasses by each register and it's a private business which they can do whatever, but that no reason to let your guard down and putting your customers at risk. read more

First off, I've got a friend going through Lovelady program and have another friend who's daughter went through the program and was successful. So I'm thankful they are helping women who need a place to thrive. They need money to run their program so all I have to say is I've found really good deals here and I've bought things a bit over priced but it's going for a good cause so I didn't mind. Most of our stops here have been dropping off items in our never ending attempt to declutter our house! This drop off is super convenient because you can drop off all hours of the day... even on Sunday!! Unfortunately that leads to some people using this place to dump their trash - I feel sorry for the folks that have to go through that. But I do like donating to LoveLady knowing that the proceeds support women. Recently we decided to venture inside to look at outdoor furniture. Wow! This place is huge! Much bigger than you would think from the outside. And everything seems to fairly organized. Prices seem to be a little higher than I normally expect for a thrift store, but they do have daily specials, so I think a lot people take advantage of that. read more

I have heard about the Lovelady thrift store for a while now. They are a thrift store which supports battered and abused women and children. It is truly a great cause. We give to them often, as they have a drive up donation center on the side of the building. The inside of the store is massive. Much more than I thought from just looking at the outside of the building. The have rows upon rows of clothes. They have both inside and outside furniture. They have an electronics section and a pet section. While you may not be able to find exactly you're looking for, as it depends on what they have in from week to week, you can try again on another visit. If you're looking, definitely come and give this place a shot! read more

Used to love this place but now a days it's like they look up every items price on eBay before pricing them. I came to buy some small paintings for cheap, you know like $10-20 i found a small painting (10inches) i like thought it was cute so i went to go ask how much it was cause it didn't have a tag she said she'd have to ask the manager so the manager came over and used google photo search to look up who the painting was by and then told me it was well over 100 dollars. This store has really gone down, they get there stuff donated to them , yet they price it as retail, just wish they would get back to what they use to be. I had donated several boxes of clothes, linens, etc., a couple of days earlier and then found out I had donated my son's favorite cap. I went to Lovelady Thrift in Irondale and asked if there was anyway to find it. The manager took my information and description of the cap and said she would alert the employees who removed and sorted the donations to look for it. I had never been inside the store and took that opportunity to look around. I was impressed. Everything was clean. The items were sorted and put in the various departments. The clothes were all neat and on hangers. They were sorted as to the category of the clothes, such as child, women and men. There were some really nice items there. The furniture I saw was in good condition and what I thought were reasonably priced. If they actually look for and find the cap I will raise my rating to a 5, if not we will see. But over all they had done an impressive job displaying the donated items. read more

They're way too over priced. The stuff they get is donated to them and whoever is pricing the merchandise is setting their prices to eBay's. They're selling a littlest pet shop McDonald's collection set for $34.95 for 4 McDonald figurines. That's absolutely ridiculous. They're selling Christmas decor for $125+. Come on.. this stuff is donated and used or usually in poor condition. Their pricing needs to be re-evaluated and quit price gouging. Just because it's for sale on eBay for $125 doesn't mean it will sell for that much. Management even stated that they're having a hard time selling their LPS and Christmas decor.. no wonder!! read more

I stopped in for the first time today and was very happily surprised to find that they have a juniors section. I didn't have to spend hours wading through clothes to find my size! The prices are reasonable and I walked out with 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts, and a sweater for less than $20. I'm very happy with my experience. read more

Very disappointed when donating. In initial conversation I went over everything with the store. Very nice lady. I donated well over a thousand dollars in Talbot clothing, plus other household items: blankets bedspreads ect. Including and overstuffed couch. With a promise of another load in about 4 weeks. After they took out all the expensive stuff they refused the couch. It more than anything needed out of the way. My mother passed on Dec.7th and I have to move now I don't know what to do! So much for Merry Christmas. The next load will go elsewhere. read more

My receipt shows the incorrect date. Today is 6/10/2019 Monday, not Tuesday. Today was 99 cent day if the sticker was blue. I bought a pair of bookends that were $.99. I bought a shell necklace for $3.48, a little ceramic blue and white windmill for $1.98. There was one item that did not have a sticker. Two items with white stickers for $.99 each, one yellow sticker item for $.99, one orange sticker for $.99. The total without knowing what the little pill organizer was, but thinking it might have been something I might have found at the dollar store. It had not been opened. My total was $16.05. However, when I added up without the pill organizer, I came up with $10.41. Register 02, Tienell, time 04:28. No Refunds No Exchanges When I arrived at the register, the clerk was having a conversation with someone who wanted her to change some money. Tienell said she wasn't supposed to, but she did. I asked the lady if she was checking out, because a line was forming behind me. She was asking Tienell how long she had worked there and Tienell said 2 months. Tienell said sorry about the wait, and at the time it was okay. It is my responsibility to check my receipt, and I will from now on. I have donated to Lovelady in the past, but I will not do so again. I called, but the only number listed is the call center that takes care of calling for donations. I asked for the Old Springville Rd number, and made numerous calls and no one answered. I am frustrated, and it is not the amount, but it is the amount of time wasted with calling, and yes, it is about the money. I bought a battery operated train from this store for my daughter (one of the big trains you put around a Christmas tree). It appeared brand new and still in the box so I asked the manager if it worked. She made a phone call for me and asked another employee who told her they didn't have batteries so they had no way of knowing if it worked. She told me I could return it if it didn't. I got up to the counter to check out and there are signs everywhere that say no returns, so I verified with the lady who checked me out once again to make sure I could return it and get my money back. She said I could return it and get my money back as long as I had the receipt and it was within 30 days of the purchase. Fast forward 2 days and I drive two hours from my home to return the train because it is missing several pieces. I entered the store with my husband and 7 month old and got in line to return the train. The lady at the cash register was very nice and called a "manager" over to help us. Her name was Brandy A. I told her we needed to return the train and she immediately got ill with us. She was huffing while she tried to find a return slip. She scribble a few things on the slip and then asked why we were returning it. I told her it was missing several pieces and we couldn't put the track together, she huffed at us again and scribbled a few more things on the paper and then shoved the paper at my husband who was holding our baby. He asked her what he needed to do with the paper and she very rudely said well that is your store credit. I said the lady that sold us this told us we could get our money back, we even spoke with a manager that day. We were not rude at all we were just trying to figure out why we were told we could get our money back if that wasn't really the case. The lady once again very rudely raised her voice at us and said "well I am a manager but I will get you another one" and she yelled for some other lady to come help us. This lady then tried calling some people to help us while we walked around the store. She found us later in the store and told us she was so sorry she couldn't give us the money back and she apologized for the way Brandy had treated us. We found a couple Christmas decorations to buy and gave our left over store credit to a lady checking out. I'm glad the money went to a charity but I'm very unhappy with being treated so rude by a lady who claimed to be a manager. I would not want someone who treats people that way for no reason running a Christian organization. read more
