I researched America's Thrift Store recently. They are a for-profit organization and only 3.5% of their online and in store profits go to non profit. So when you see those signs, they are falsely presenting that they support non profits but 96.% earned off of your donations goes to paychecks for executives. In addition they run an eBay page on YOUR donated items. Not only are their price markups outrageous in the store, they are based on current marketability from eBay. Don't donate to thrift store causes unless you like directly funding corporate organizations rather than non profit activities. Always check that organization to ensure they are a non profit. read more

I dropped off some items recently. I appreciate how clear the signs were for making donations. No guessing. It was a fast process. The young man who "helped" me was cool. He just rolled the donation cart to my trunk and I loaded the items. Good thing I'm strong! lol No seriously, it was cool. I donated some great items so happy hunting! read more

It pass time for an update on this location and it never occur that it been over 3 years since I wrote my previous review here. I'm not too crazy about driving or parking my car in this shopping center with everyone drive reckless around here. My first expression is that they're now open on a Sunday and that tells there in business just to make a profit. First thing first, they should install a fitting room some where in the store so customers can know what they're buying actually fits. What I've also noticed is the clothes on the popular brands are higher than I normally remember. If it used clothes, then why charge so much for items that aren't suitable to wear especially with having stains on them? I understand people aren't in a position to buy new clothes, but they are far better store that sells new or used clothing at a reasonable price. read more

This is the largest thrift store I have ever visited. The people who work there were very nice. The clothes they had there were very nice and they had a lot of big name brands mixed in. Take your time going through the store, you never know what you will find. I will be returning. Not much more to say. I wish it would just let me post the review. This place is ok the have really got some snotty people working here. The ladies in the front who check you out are nice but the stickers act like they hate you. I have had many problems with them. And on Mondays they change the color of discount tags and omg they always take all the ones with that tag off of the floor. Why even have discount tags if your going to do that. I have found some pretty nice things here but if they keep being ugly and taking away there discount tag items people will stop shopping. Don't enjoy coming here like I did. read more

There is no possible way that I can give a thrift store without a dressing room anymore than 3 stars. But, I still love the place. My attics, closets, barns, basements, outhouses and zombie shelters are all packed with useless clutter. I come here to Americas Thrift Store to add to my collection; there is still storage space in my refrigerator. On my hunt today I met many characters: a panda, real life Dora the explorer, tiny puppy, and a panhandler. I purchased a shirt that didn't fit, a shirt that smelled like the previous male owner, and a pair of pants that I may actually wear. I try on my clothes in the isles, but some articles of clothing are too difficult to change into without offending others. Thrifting isn't shopping, it's an adventure. Americas Thrift Store is no exception. Just don't be surprised if some items don't fit and you never actually exchange them. read more

My family has always enjoyed shopping at the thrift store and we go often. Lately we have noticed prices are really increasing, I don't know who decides, or how they decide them, but prices seem way too high - especially since the items are donated and for the most part used. For example, today overalls that were stained big time and badly worn, for $10.99. In the past, a family on a fixed income could afford to go and buy several items for upcoming season, not so much anymore. Please be more considerate of families that don't have big incomes. I'm not talking about new items that I'm sure you have to buy, only the used items that are donated to you. read more

Me and my family LOOOVVEEEE this thrift store! We have been going for about 6 years and we love it! They always have the best selection of cloths for men, women, and children, they have tons of misc, purses, furniture, VHS' cassettes and dvds, records, tons of books, An much more! One of the less impressive secondhand stores in Birmingham, but it's hard not to stop here because it's right next to the Jet Pep -- which tends to have the cheapest gas in Roebuck -- plus it's about a one-minute drive from Big Savers and the United Thrift Store around the corner, both of which are way better than ATS. ATS is a for-profit thrift store. Just sayin'. They've also eliminated the 70%-off discounts, which is unfortunate because their initial price is often comparable to what you'd pay for new merchandise at retail. read more

I have only one problem with this thrift store: They put they're pricing stickers inside the books and it drives me nuts! I love to find board books for my toddler and they put them inside, right in the middle of the page and several books have been destroyed because of them. I would just leave the sticker on if they would put the sticker on the back of the book, on the outside... Even when I successfully get a sticker off without damaging the book the stickers they use are very tacky and leave a large amount of residue behind. Something has got to give here, I would go with better sticker placement. Or like other thrift stores mark the book with a crayon on a slick surface and it'll wipe off later. Otherwise this is the best thrift store I have ever been to... a few years ago I wouldn't go in it. It was dirty, smelly and everything looked like it was plucked from the dump. They've really cleaned the place up and they quality of the items is so much better. Definitely would advise anyone to go and check it out, plenty of treasures to be found! read more

Definitely one of my favorite thrift stores in Birmingham. Plenty to choose from in all departments. Prices are usually reasonable, although name brand items can be pricey. They don't have a dressing room so be prepared to try things on over your clothes. They do take clothing returns for store credit up to 30 days after purchase. There's some pretty great stuff in there, you just may have to dig a little. Staff isn't overly friendly but it's pretty spacious so, even on the weekends, you never really feel cramped. 10/10 recommend read more

Reasonable prices, great selection of shoes and books. I try to stop in on Wednesday's when they have bigger than usual discounts.

It doesn't look like much, but there are great finds. They have a ton of merchandise for everyone and for it's size and foot traffic, it is very well organized. The pricing is much better at this locale than some of the others. It is one of my go to favorites. read more

The racks are packed tight so you can't browse through racks very well. Prices are higher than before. Management won't take time to help when you ask to speak to him. Very disappointed. I have been going to this thrift store since I was a kid. Things have changed in bad way:( read more
