Items that I dropped off for consignment never reached the floor, so it's no wonder they didn't sell. They were designer items, in line with the items they accept. When I scheduled an appointment to pick up unsold items, they returned my items that had not reached the deadline for pickup. On another occasion, I dropped off designer items and when I inquired about the money from the item I was told I had missed the deadline and the item was donated . I don't believe that to be true. They had remarked how much they loved the item at drop off. I believe they kept the item . Just suspect that I never saw my items either times on the sales floor. Of course I paid the $10 fee , their gain, my loss, and picked up my items. BTW some still had the original tags on them, I had never worn the items. Purchased from high end stores. Owners/employees act like you annoy them just being in the store. Young employee (granddaughter of owner?) was sitting in a chair by the door and was SLEEPING in the chair. Literally never got up. Customers all in the store. read more

I'm visiting from California and I was immediately greeted by southern charm when I walked into the store! I stumbled upon this store through Yelp. The phrase "Louis Vuitton" grabbed my attention from a previous reviewer. ;-) I'm an authentic LV collector and reseller, so I will venture to any store that carry preloved LV's. The prices are reasonable, some lower than eBay. As for clothes, I found some lovely brand name items, but I've seen cheaper prices at other resale stores. If you want high-end consignment closet pieces, I would recommend taking a browse at this store. Don't expect a huge bargain. Also, they don't carry children or men's clothing. read more

Came here today to see what I could find. This is a good sized store and there really is a ton of stuff. Pretty well organized but a little haphazard. The items seemed to be in good shape. They have a large selection of pretty much everything, even formal wear if you are looking for something for a special event. Lots of shoes too. The store is in a good location off the road so it is easy to pull in and out. Ample parking. Staff was nice and not pushy so I liked that. I was able to browse and look through everything. My only complaint here is pricing. Everything seemed to be priced too high in my opinion. They had nice stuff but let's face it, it's still used. And unlike other consignment shops where the price drops after the item has been there awhile, the prices here stay the same even though there are different color tags on the item. No wonder they have so much inventory! I definitely would have picked up a few things if I felt like I was getting a deal but the few things I liked would have cost me over 100 dollars. For me, the whole fun of shopping at these places is to get some great clothes at a great price. If you don't mind spending the money, they have a good selection of items and you should have no trouble finding a few things here to add to your wardrobe. read more

Don't waste your time here. The prices are absolutely ridiculous and honestly they don't really have a lot to select from. I've been in here a few times, giving it a few different chances and every single time I maybe found 1 thing that I liked but it was too over priced. They only accept top notch brands as you can see from browsing their racks, but top notch or not, most of their clothing is just plain tacky or outright ugly. read more

I purchased a bag from Secondhand Rose through Poshmark after an active negotiation. The store never mailed the bag, reached out to me or responded to either of the two messages I sent them. Finally after a week(!), I get a message from Poshmark that the seller cancelled the order because they no longer had the item. No word directly from the seller, no apology, nothing-- let alone an offer to make things right-- even though I had mentioned in my message that I purchased the bag for my honeymoon! These people are unprofessional and discourteous. Do not buy from them or consign with them because they will not follow through on sales. read more

I live near the Valleydale store and wanted to drop in. I'm glad finally I did. The ladies were busy but very nice and helpful. They answered my barrage of questions and gave me the consignment guidelines. The guidelines were very specific. The selection on most everything except my size clothing was excellent. (Apparently, they just do not in very much plus size clothing for consignment.) I did end up with a great purse and shoes. I liked Second Hand Rose so much I went to the Cahaba Heights store and met more wonderful people. I'll definitely visit both stores again. read more

I took some of my clothes and shoes into Second Hand Rose. The ladies were very very rude and turned down my items. One of them was a prada purse, still in good condition. Another consignment store took it....I've heard so many bad comments about how snobby this store is, just wish I had known before I went there in the first place. read more

Can you imagine finding a gem of a consignment boutique where the clothes are adorable and inexpensive and the people make you feel like a million bucks? Well, keep imagining because this is not that gem, though it is okay. I have heard there is such a place in Cahaba Heights and I look forward to finding an experience like that. I have found some cute things at this store and one time the lady at the counter helped me pick out a beautiful old locket for a gift, and my friend loved it. They have some interesting jewelry and also have some unique items to see here. The clothes run on the high side of consignment for the area, though, and the people that work there don't make it over to the dressing room much to check on you or offer to help, and pretty much stay behind the counter marking inventory and talking to each other until you come to the register. In fact, today I had been there for about 1/2 an hour picking out and trying on items. I found a specific top style that I am looking for but was a little small and asked one of the ladies there if there might be any more around there. (as a growing pregnant person I am looking for some tunic type tops to wear with leggings and those seem to be hard to find). The store was not very busy at all but her response was that she is sure they probably do and if I looked around I might find something. She said she couldn't really think of anything and didn't offer to look or help in any way. In fact, it seemed like it was kind of a nuisance when I asked her if she would come over to the dressing room so I could show her the top and ask. I agree with the preview of very poor customer service! I visited the store while in the area and I was treated as if I wasn't even in the store. I love this consignment store! I went last week for the first time and found everything I was looking for! Second Hand Rose has a huge variety of designer clothing, shoes, and accessories for a reasonable price! I would say that their style is mostly professional and chic. They also offer more formal and casual wear. I will definitely be going back, especially because I was given a punch card for discounts!
