I had a very inappropriate and uncomfortable interaction with the owner. I came here to get my purse lining repaired & I had no issues dropping it off. Khan only accepts cash, so I left to withdraw money & returned to pay. When I came back, he said, "You and me should get Vietnamese food together." I politely declined. He then continued to call me "beautiful" & I started feeling uncomfortable so I was rushing to leave. As I handed him the cash, he placed his hand on my stomach and said I have a "very sexy body." I called him out on how inappropriate it was and left immediately. I didn't get a chance to check my purse at the time, but when I did, I noticed the repair was sloppy and not worth the money/ interaction. Mr. Khanh profiles his customers. I understand people can choose to provide service to whom they want. I had take looked forward to bringing a few items here because I lack seamstress abilities. I had seen this business over a year and finally wanted to give it a shot. I have an outfit and the zipper doesn't work properly when worn. I asked him to replace the zipper and instead he insisted I was fat. I then asked to replace elastic in sleeves and he had another excuse. Actually, he pretended to NOT know English. He is a suave dresser. He has the essence of Prince. I could have brought lots of business. If you're African American, I suggest you go elsewhere. Went to get culotte pants taken in in the leg, got them back and one side kinda sticks out. He said he wouldn't redo them then proceeded to tell me that the pants are ugly. 3/2/20 UPDATE As usual Mr Khanh still doesn't give out receipts. Came back to pickup my alteration that was suppose to be ready today by 9am, came by round 3pm and he couldn't find it so guess what he has the nerve to ask me, "do you have a receipt?" YOU KIDDING ME!?! So he begins to look for it and finally finds it untouched and ask me if I can comeback later today. I refuse having made my decision that this will be my last time here. --------------------------------------- Buyer beware, you get what you pay for. YRMV. This guy is really old school and is ignorant to running a business according to modern day standards. Mr Khanh takes allot of pride and egotism in himself rather than customer service. He only takes cash, he always ask for full payment upfront, he won't give receipt unless you ask and when he does give you a receipt it's the scrap piece of paper that he initially gives you when you drop off your clothes which maybe difficult to understand. I needed a dress altered and didn't feel capable of doing it myself, now I wish I had. Khanh almost ruined my dress. When I got my dress back, later than he'd promised, it was sewn so crooked that I had to take it back. He was not happy about this and was rude about the corrections. I tried to tell him I didn't want it redone all the way around but just went ahead and remarked it all the way. As I feared it was now too short. I'm adding a fringe to give it more length. I noticed that one area of about 4" was not even sewn. I will never go there again and will let my friends know. I wish I had known he had reviews online, I would never have gone there. read more

Please be warned. My daughter came by herself to just drop off a dress for alterations, but Khanh insisted she try on and patted her multiple times unnecessary. He told her how beautiful she was and huged her, telling her he "loved her". So inappropriate and creepy. I coincidentally heard that someone i know had a creepy experiences there too. I wish i knew. Overall: Not coming back here ever again! Had the most bizarre experience at this place with the alterations person! I brought in 2 pairs of pants to be shortened. cost: $6 per pants CASH ONLY! Khanh told me to come back in a week to pick up. Came back in a week and the pants were not done. Khanh told me to wait 15 minutes. I went next door to Tofu House for a beer. (They have HH drink specials all day. LOVE it! ) Came back in about 30 minutes and Khanh takes out 2 bottles of Heineken and hands me one? Didn't want to be rude, but So weird and uncomfortable! I'm not sure why people are giving this guy so many bad ratings. I've been to Khanh multiple times and he was always great with everything I brought him. Here are some things you need to know before going. He quirky. He has a lot of photos of himself and always dresses up. He writes his receipts in his language with the price he's charging. I don't see anything wrong with this as he wants to track your stuff. He may offer you a beer (lol) he's just being nice. He doesn't speak much English and is super old school. Not only did not finish hemming on the day Mr. Khanh promised, he also cut the pants open without apology. This man even shouted in a very angry mood and closed his front door when I pointed out the damage he made on the pants, I felt threatened and had to pay him & leave as soon as possible. I had an akward alteration experience this past October .I went to this small shop off Mira Mesa Blvd . I went here to get my CAT SUIT altered because I needed it taken in a bit, well the guy grabs my croutch and then says here ? I said Um Ok, and then grabs my ASS! I said , I do not need anything taken there . Then he marked me with Chaulk and that was that he said it will be done by Saturday this means it will take 5days. After the akwardness of the measuring happened I was like ok ...No Problem. I go back on that Saturday and he has a line out the door I waited and then I gave him this unique ticket he gave me and he looked like he had lost my outfit. He keeps everything in Clear Storage boxes by #. Never seen anything like this. He then looks at me and says I can have it ready in 30mins come back , I said alright maybe he is just finishing it up. I went to Kohls real quick came back an hour later and he said to come back again, I said NO! Whats going on??? he was measuring this handsome Marine and I did not want to be disrespectful.. I said can I please have my clothes? he pulled it out and NOTHING Was DONE!!!!! 5 DAYS!!! OMG !!! I was super pissed and I went off! I told that Marine not to trust this tailor because he does not have time to do all alterations by himself its a one man shop! Goodness , I am glad he did not start the work he would of probably done a horrible job anyways. I would of ended up with a CAMEL TOE or something. Please don't bother coming here because you will not be satisfied. We were charged extra to have our items ready 1 day earlier than promised (needed it for a wedding we'd be attending in LA). On the day of our scheduled pickup, the owner was nowhere in sight. He had a sign "back at 330pm" and it was already 5pm. We came back an hour later and he still wasn't there. The next morning (day we needed to drive to LA for the wedding), our items still weren't ready!! He told us to come back in a few hours until I firmly told him we needed it ASAP bc we needed to leave. We came back an hour later and our clothes were finally ready BUT he still wanted to charge us the extra expediting fee when we ended up having to come back the next day and still had to wait!!! Horrible! I live only a few blocks from this business. So it was convenient for me to pop in. Even the first time I used Mr. Khanh's services, the work was mediocre. They were simple alterations but it looked like a novice had done the work...no craftsmanship! And he charged me too much. I thought he must be good if he's charging these prices...but once I got my clothes back...I realized he over charged! Yet, I gave him another try because of the convenience of the location. Omg...it got worst! My clothes were noy ready when he said they would be. He fished them out if a bin and proceeded to do my complicated alterations in front of me. All the while, I'm noticing his complete lack of attention to detail! He did press my clothes before handing them to me but I wasn't even given a chance to try them on! Once I got home and did try them on...all wrong! Suit jacket too tight, suit pants too big, he forgot to fix rip and replace button on suit pants, alterations on my shirts were completely off! Omg! I went back today to let him know how bad everything was, and he yells at me! Saying I didn't tell him about certain things he needed to fix! I'm the customer! I'm normally not a person to complain, or much less, write a review but really! I think Mr. Khanh's alteration days are over! His actual work is pretty good. It's the customer service that I have major issues with. I dropped my clothes off on Saturday (5/13). I had 5 pairs of jeans I needed hemmed, 3 pairs of jeans I needed holes fixed, and 3 shirts I needed holes fixed. He told me to come back in a week on Saturday (5/20). I came in at 11am and then he said "no no, come in after 4pm" because he still hadn't even started my clothes. But I couldn't because I was going out of town. So Monday morning, I decided to go by on my way to work knowing that he opens at 9am. By 9:20am, I (and the other people waiting for him to open) was starting to get frustrated. I called the number on the door and he said he wasn't open till 10am even though his door says 9am. I decided to leave and go to work (now late to work). At 11:15am, I called to ask him if my stuff was ready and he said "yes, everything is ready". I got there and found out that only the 5 pairs I needed hemmed were ready. The other jeans and shirts he hadn't even started. He told me to come back in an hour but I told him no. I took all my stuff, paid for the half that he actually finished, and left. I will not be returning. If you give people a specific date that your stuff will be ready, they shouldn't have to come by 4 times before it is. Not worth the inexpensive pricing. So kahn had 3 pieces of clothing that needed to be taken in by 1 in. He had one pair of pants and two shorts. He gave me till Wed 26st to finish them. I came in on 27nd he said next day that would be Friday 28rd. My wife went to pick them up on that friday still not ready so I've waited a whole week and 4 days came in today Nov 1 still not ready. Its a friday morning and he said it wont be done till monday 5pm. My aunt asked if it's possible to get it the same day, he then threw the cloth right at us and ask to leave. Well since he only charges $6 for the job we thought we can wait. But then when we asked to use a thread color that would match the cloth, he said he only uses black. My experience with Khan Alteration is horrible. He refused to finish for the unfinished job that I paid in advanced. He is verbally abusive, and smells alcohol breath. I would like to give him negative 1, with his rudeness. He was verbally abusive, loud with broken English when I told him that he didn't complete the alteration of what I asked him to do. I tried to show his unfinished job, but his bad behavior escalated. I had to leave immediately because he smelled alcohol with blood shot eyes, and shouted in angry moods. I have been to this place four times now. Today was to fix my hoody. The pocket ripped and he fixed it in the spot for $3, I was in and out. I saw a bunch of bad reviews, I've never had anything close to that. The man has altered my clothes on the spot 3 of the 4 times I've been there. The one time he needed more time, it was to shorten some sweater sleeves that were a little too long. It was completed on time and done right. He turned out being so nice and accommodating! I needed a dress altered for a wedding and he said "this is too easy! I'm not even going to charge you!" Of course I gave him $5 for saving my life. Don't go, you will get Very Poor work if done at all as promised! He sewed on my patches crooked (not straight) on my club vest previously, I figured I would just deal with it (what a shame). Later on, I left a pirate jacket for Renn Fairs and Halloween use (thinking I'll give him another chance). I needed him to shorten the sleeves, that was on Tuesday the 25th at 10am and he said he would have ready by Saturday the 22nd. Saturday came, I called and he just never answered the phone Saturday, (or Sunday, I made several calls all day both days because I needed it for a Renn fair Sunday 23rd) = Failed me. I tried to give this small business a second chance but unfortunately this is the 2nd time I've had a bad experience. My pick up day was Tuesday but because he was late last time I decided to give it a day before making the drive from down south to pick up my clothes. I came today on a Wednesday at 3pm and he told me to leave and come back at 4pm because he hadn't started on them. So I do exactly that and come back and when I do he still hasn't touched them. So he looks at me, grabs my clothes, starts slamming stuff around before finally starting on them. Regardless of personal issues, language barrier, etc. there is no excuse for bad business like that. I recommend going elsewhere if you need work done in a timely manner. There was absolutely no respect for the customers. He did the same thing to a younger girl who came to pick her clothes up before me on her pick up date and time and he told her to come back as well. Came here on Wednesday to get two dresses hemmed, keep in mind that I'm just trying to get 2 CASUAL dresses shortened (no beads, no tideous workings needed to be done) and he charges me 30$ for both dress (pretty expensive IMO). ANYWAYS, we came in and their music was so loud, by loud I mean BLASTED, I mean there's already a language barrier between us and on top of that, I couldn't even hear anything.
