Such a reliable, welcoming spot! Their services were quick and definitely very cost effective. I went here to get my wedding dress hemmed and I couldn't be more happy with the results and my experience with the whole team! read more

Smells really bad like mothballs inside. Went for alterations, they said they were going on vacation and weren't taking new clients for the month although I called before going and confirmed they do alterations and would be able to get a dress hemmed by middle of the month. read more

Did great job on hemming pants. Very good prices Cash only. They do all kinds of alterations. read more

Beyond terrible service and experience! The seamstress was extremely rude and impatient and did not want to help out at all. I have no idea how they stay in business. My advice is to avoid this place, there are far too many other places out there to choose from. read more

I have been a customer for over 20 years (from simple hem work to more complicated wedding dress). It is a no frills establishment but Khim and staff are very hard working and honest. Always very busy so come early (they sometimes open before their stated business hours). There are 2 dressing rooms so you will have to wait if place is busy. I have been to other alterations places closer to me, but I always return to Poway Alterations Center. Their prices are more reasonable, and they are honest with what they can and cannot do and make recommendations to make sure the fit is correct. If there is any issue, they will correct onsite while you wait, if possible. read more

Very friendly service. On time. I did some taking in of my delicate India shirt. They did a nice job and were communicative via text. Definitely would recommend. read more

They did a great job on my husband suit. We requested a rush work and they accommodated us despite being busy. Thank you

Kim tailored a tricky Amazon dress in a short timeline for my elopement. I looked and felt great! read more

I brought in an article for repair that was outside their usual work. They took it on anyway, and did a magnificent job at a most reasonable cost. I now see why it was so crowded. Quality work never goes out of style. read more

Kim is a magician and a saint. I have been going to her for almost a year, projects big and small. Everything I leave with her, she returns to me perfectly tailored within whatever window of time I need. Most recently, she altered my wedding dress and was able to turn it around in about two weeks! She was so knowledgeable, talked me through different bustle options, and made sure to hit the deadline for my wedding. Her prices are more than fair and her policy is that she does her best to make your deadline, but sometimes she will ask you for extra time if you are flexible, which I find an understandable and helpful policy. She definitely gets busy so make an appointment for big projects or come at off hours. read more

I have had two bridesmaid dresses hemmed by them and they have such sweet and gentle staff. They are very proficient at what they do and their timelines were very reasonable. read more

We brought my husband's work pants in to be hemmed, waited over a week, paid 20+ bucks for the job, and after one wash one of the legs came completely undone. Brought the pants back in only to be told we would be charged full price to redo it, because "you can't wash the pants because the glue comes undone." They didn't even stitch them--they were glued! Rude as hell, poor quality, and my second bad experience here so I guess that's on me. Go elsewhere if you want quality work done. read more

Very friendly and honest. I was quoted $50 for hemming my beaded embroidered gown. Upon picking up, Kim charged me $20 only since she doesn't need to secure the beads as they are still in place after cutting. Highly recommend!! read more

I think it's run by a sister and brother duo. They were the only shop that was able to accept my project with a 3 day turn around timeline right before the Christmas break. The woman did a fantastic job hemming the bottom of my dress and tightening the bow on the shoulder ($40 total). She was also extremely nice, suggesting what type of alternations to make since I'm new to all this. Would def go back for my next custom fit! read more

Was going here for years but stopped. Customer service could be improved. The tailor was grumpy and rude during my last visit. Prices are okay. read more

I brought my dress here with no hope of being able to find an affordable place to alter my engagement dress but decided to give this place a try. I had a Nordstrom dress and they priced me at $600 to alter my dress. At that point, I didn't think any place would do it for any cheaper in a significant way. I came here and the owners were so easy going and knowledgeable. They have very affordable prices. This is my new go-to alteration place. Not only it's affordable, they did such a good and beautiful job. I was pleasantly surprised read more

Finally doing this review after 20+ yrs if using their services. I'm height-challenged so need just about all my clothes altered. I've asked Poway Alterations to shorten my casual wear (jeans, cardigans), business wear (suits, jackets) to formals (evening gowns) and they delivered every time. They're easy to work with and their pricing is very reasonable and turn-around is excellent. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to get mothers altered. read more

I rarely need to get my dresses altered however my bridesmaid dress came in a week before the wedding date and was way too long for me. I initially called Poway Alteration Center to inquire on costs and how quickly they would be able to complete the alteration and to my surprise, they reassured me they could get it done in 2 days. I was shocked at how accommodating this place is and ensuring their customers are happy. I would definitely come here again when I need another alteration done. I paid $85 to get my dress hemmed and shoulder pads hemmed as it was a little loose. This place is located in a plaza right next to Joanna and 99c Store so there are plenty of parking. read more

Kind people and excellent work. They complete work in a timely manner and quality is superb.

Always easy to walk right in and get basic tailoring for my slacks. They're very quick and reasonably priced. There's been one instance where I had to bring my pants back and was charged again but I think it's a case where I should've tried them on before leaving. read more

Always great service and ready when they say. Have had many items hemmed and altered here.

I've been going to this place for years. Awesome service, always friendly and accommodating. Price is always right.

They are hardly open, cash only and they are so busy that alterations take weeks. I won't come again.

Kym was awesome knew exactly what to do... Had her alter my simple wedding dress... she shaped the sides to fit my curves and hemed it perfectly. Timely and Reliable. Cost was about $100 but considering last minute and it was a wedding dress it was acceptable. read more

This was my go-to alterations prior to the pandemic, but since then I feel like their customer service have dropped while prices soared. In my last visit, I dropped off a pair of jeans to get it hemmed. They told me to come back on a specific day in 2 weeks. On my return weeks later, they unfortunately did not have it done. I had to wait 30 minutes for the 1 person working there to help a customer and then do a rush job on my jeans. No apologies. If I'm spending twenty plus dollars on a relatively simple job, I expect it to be ready on the date and time given. I will not be coming back here again. read more

I needed a bridesmaid dress altered before the wedding. This shop was recommended by a friend. Friendly staff, very reasonable prices, and got my alterations done on time! I'll come back for future alteration needs. read more

Thank you Poway Alterations Center for being able to find the time to fix my daughter's dress on time for her quinceañera!!

Great prices and value. They were able to help me with hemming a special occasion dress last minute.

My heart is broken. I had a cashmere sweater that had a hole in it from a moth. I made sure that it was the only hole that needed fixing. I paid and was told to pick it up in two weeks. When I picked it up, I assumed that it was okay and left. When I got home, I found 11 new holes in the sweater. I was so upset that I didn't take it back right away because I was worried that it would become more moth eaten and I wanted to come back in the winter when moth season was over with. I put it in the freezer to kill the moths and I brought it back months later. I recognize that I should have brought it back right away but I told them that I was willing to pay to fix the 11 new holes. I just wanted the sweater to remain in the plastic bag with the moth balls while it wasn't being fixed. The owner insisted that they didn't have a moth problem and I could have created the holes. The owner became very angry, started yelling and said she will not take my order because she cannot guarantee that more holes won't appear. I am heartbroken because I have a moth-eaten sweater and I won't be returning to their business. They did great work and I told her that I'm sad. She couldn't care less, she just continued to yell. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My wedding is in 3 weeks and my sister (who is my MOH) went in to get her dress altered. The dress was altered just fine. BUT THEY LEFT A HUGE VERY NOTICEABLE STAIN ON HER DRESS. Not to mention, they didn't take ownership for it and claimed it was there when my sister got the dress. ABSOLUTELY NOT. It appears that the stain is from oil. Nor did they reimburse her for ruining her dress. Now we are left scurrying trying to figure out what to do about her dress. Wasted money. And extremely disappointed and frustrated. I had been recommended to even take my wedding dress here to be altered and THANK GOD I didn't. Who knows what could've happened. They obviously don't take care of their clothes or take ownership for their mistakes. My other bridesmaids were going to take their dresses here and I told them to absolutely do not go here, as the lady helping my sister was rude and ruined her dress. So thank you so much Poway Alterations for causing SUCH A HEADACHE 3 weeks prior to my wedding. I will be telling everyone NOT to go here. read more

Kim is amazing!! She is very patient and really takes pride in her work. I brought a wedding dress in that was a few sizes too big, and I had major buyer's remorse but unfortunately the dress couldn't be returned because it was off the rack. Kim helped be completely change the look but made it appear to have been designed that way. She will gently give her opinion on what she thinks looks good, and I really appreciate her expertise! Price was very reasonable and I'm so so pleased with how the dress turned out read more

Very reasonably priced. Quality workmanship. I was given a reasonable time frame and the work was done on time.

Came here to get my wedding dress altered and bustled and it turned out beautifully and so much more reasonably priced than the other two alteration centers I was quoted at. This was 25% of the price and so worth it. I've come here a few more times to get my pants and jeans hemmed and was equally happy with the work. I've found my alteration spot!! read more

Reasonable prices and very skilled seamstress who is not afraid to cut things up to make it really work. It's a little bit out of the way but right now is my go to place for alterations read more

Excellent service for dress alterations and the price is perfect! Rapid turn-around and they know tailoring. Very skilled at alterations.

I would recommend Poway alterations to everybody!! I was so nervous as I went here on a recommendation to have my wedding dress tailored. What I was asking for I knew would not be easy and wasn't even sure if it could be done. Kim worked MAGIC! And on top of the she is so kind and such a pleasure to talk to. My mom used to own a bridal shop so she was on FaceTime with me for each fitting, and she was beyond impressed with the work that was down. I will certainly be returning, and highly recommend Poway Alterations for all of your alteration needs! read more

Kim made a plain wedding dress into a beautiful dream gown. She hemmed it to fit me perfectly and made it such an easy process. I bought a $20 belt online and Kim made it look like the $200 bows that you buy at bridal stores (and she practically charged me nothing to do make it!). She had me come in for multiple fittings to make sure everything was perfect and she did it all for an incredible price! So thankful and appreciative for her and her family's work on my dress. I highly recommend coming here for amazing/beautiful/cost efficient work! read more
