After installing our pool in 2023, I've had constant issues with dead spots in my back yard, causing me to explore the idea of installing artificial turf. I did a lot of research on artificial turf companies servicing the Brushy Creek area and after some shopping around, came across Umesh and KG Lawn Care. After receiving some ridiculous quotes from some of the "bigger" artificial turf companies, offering a lower grade of turf for a substantially higher price, I went forward with the project with Umesh and KG Lawn Care. Umesh took on my project of installing approximately 1000 sqft of artificial turf, metal edging, and black star gravel around some cypress trees. Roughly a month before starting, I expressed to Umesh my desire to have the project completed in time for our family's annual crawfish boil, which he assured me he would fulfill. I can't say enough positive things about Umesh, Lucas, and their crew. As we neared the date of my family's party, Umesh assured me that he would push to make the deadline, even with unpredictable central Texas weather. Umesh not only kept to his promise in finishing the project in time for our party, but also knocked it out of the park! The artificial turf looks incredible and instantly became my daughter's favorite place to play. Umesh and his crew put a level of detail into the project in ensuring every aspect was perfect for my family. As pleased as I am with the project itself, the most noteworthy aspect I want to highlight in this review is how Umesh does business. In a world where so many are looking to cut corners, charge more, and provide less, I found that Umesh is a man of immense integrity who keeps to his word. Umesh delivered on his promise to ensure my yard was immaculate for my family's party, but most notably, his promise on pricing. A day before our turf was set to be installed, Umesh was notified by the turf company that the turf we picked out was no longer available (with zero warning). Umesh was forced to upgrade the turf at a difference of nearly $800. I offered to split the difference with Umesh but was told: "Nah man, it's all good. I like to keep my word and pricing. It's not your fault." This really struck me that Umesh was willing to eat $800 in order to keep his word with me on pricing. ****Update*** After posting this review earlier today Umesh called me a couple hours later and we discussed everything that I was unhappy with and he agreed to pay the cost for having the irrigation work completed by another company. It has been paid in by him and I will not pursue the issue any further. We signed a contract with Umesh at KG LawnCare last December to do some landscape updates to our backyard after a pool install. The work did not begin until February of this year and that was the start of several lies that Umesh would tell us as the project slowly went along. He definitely tells people what they want to hear but does not follow through on what he says and once you have paid him in full, you will never see him again. During the project, which took much longer than he had promised, with multiple things started and nothing finished, he asked for more money and I declined to do so until more work had been completed and thankfully I did. Fast forward to March 21st when I handed him a check for over $10,000 for the final payment he told me he would be returning in a week to make adjustments to our irrigation system and if we had any new sod that did not take, he would replace it. Needless to say he never did any of that. I have tried calling him and he will not take a call, he says he can only text so I text and send pictures of all the dead sod and point out the multiple irrigation issues we have and ask him to return and fix it as he promised. During the text conversation, after he made multiple excuses for not doing what he said he would do all along, I called him out on the lies said I would hire someone else and send him the bill. He offered to reimburse me to have another company come fix the issues so I hired someone else. I sent him the total amount due with a copy of the invoice last week and he said he would send me the money by yesterday, another lie. Today is May 27th and he has never returned to look at or fix anything like he said he would and he has not reimbursed me for the expense of hiring someone else to fix his mistakes like he said. We've been using Umesh for lawn care since before the Pandemic. He's attentive, and gets the job done. My wife and I are probably the worst customers imaginable, with often very vague ideas of what we want, but he's good at getting a vision out of us, and the quality of work is fine. With the Trump/ICE racist horseshit, it's getting harder to find labor, but he's able to deliver. When there are delays, he communicates. Sometimes, with our stupid Texas climate, there can be seasonal issues when it comes to the appropriate time for planting, but he clearly communicates and schedules us up. He quoted $95K and requested 50% up front to get the work lined up and finish in 6 months. This was in August 2023. After that NO work was done for 1 year. I'm very particular about hiring others to do work, as most can't meet the standards I normally expect, but can say that I was impressed with the attention to details, communication, and overall professionalism. My backyard project had some general challenges that he and the team were able to tackle fairly easily. It consisted of creating some wrap around steps coming from a new addition, regrading a poorly sloped backyard from the builder, a custom layout of a bunch of pavers, and ended up re-sodding the entire backyard. They were able to knock all this out in a matter of days and worked late to stay on schedule. Umesh and his team were some of the best contractors I have ever had the pleasure of working with, in any field of expertise. We hired them to build two new paver/gravel walkways in the front and side of our house, to re-sod our entire backyard, build a new flower bed in the front of the house, replace some other mulch beds with black star gravel & steel edging, and to install permanent backyard lighting and pathway lights in a few areas. The results were, in a word, stunning.
