Late Fall 2018 in the drive-thru, our family received all one type of side (mashed pots) and significantly dried/hard grilled chicken in our usual order with the $20.00 family bucket of grilled chicken, 3 sides (green beans, cole slaw, and mashed pots) and 4 biscuits. Only when we arrived home at a considerable distance in Huron, did we discover their mistake. At other fast food joints, it's never been a problem to call with the issue, leave a name and have it credited or replaced on our next trip to town. On this occasion, however, we discovered the Perkins KFC phone was out of order. After trying a couple more times so as not to waste another store's time, we decided to call the nearest KFC which was in Norwalk. We asked if maybe they could help us get in touch with the Perkins Ave store. I can't say enough for the effort graciously offered from the Norwalk location but again, they could not get through to the Sandusky KFC either. A few days later my wife was in the area and stopped in to tell them of our experience with the dry grilled chicken (that had obviously sat too long as most everyone orders fried we've learned) as well as the erroneous 2 sides. To her amazement, she was immediately given the excuse that "...squirrels had been chewing through the phone wire and it's been a problem for a while". My wife then laughed the unusual circumstance off and simply produced the receipt to MARIA, the owner's wife, and asked if there was anything they could do for us. She added that we've been regulars in the drive-thru almost bi-weekly for the same order for quite some time as it's one of the kids favorite meals. In contrast to my wife's demeanor, MARIA was absolutely defiant that their store was not culpable in any way for the KFC phone lines since they were just a franchise and that notifying them immediately in person would have been the ONLY RIGHT THING to do. Maria again flatly refused even minimal compensation for our inconvenience and we have of course never returned. We can only imagine what her spouse would have said in the same circumstance...a complete 180 we are certain. Lee's on Milan road is now our local go-to chicken haunt and we will be all too happy to stop in the Norwalk KFC location when in the area as well. Hope this helps any of you as you navigate you and your children's chicken cravings! read more
