Craving the deliciousness of KFC's Original Recipe chicken, I placed an order on DoorDash a few days ago. The food came in good time, but that was it. The chicken did not look like Original Recipe, nor did it look like Extra Crispy. It looked like it was something that had been deep fried a second time to heat it up. Thinking I was being picky, I pulled some meat/skin off a thigh piece to taste it. It just tasted like old grease and not a single one of the "11 herbs and spices" it is known for. DoorDash couldn't help me, so I drove the chicken back to the restaurant to see if they could help me out. If they had just said something like "our policy blah blah" I could have dealt with that. Maybe ordered more chicken. But, no, they insisted that this dark brown stuff WAS Original Recipe. I told them to just throw it out for me because it was 100% inedible. They looked surprised by that. I went home and ate two of the biscuits and one bowl of the coleslaw. The next day, I decided to eat the two bowls of macaroni and cheese for my lunch. The pictures below show what that looked like. My husband said it looked like worms. It didn't look like that to me, but it didn't look like anything I'd actually want to eat. We live near by KFC and my son loves KFC, so I went there 2-3 times weekly. Today is 3/18/23, Saturday. I forgot KFC closed earlier than DQ. Unintentionally, I drove to KFC right before its close time. There was only one car in front of me. Somehow, the driver took long minutes to order her food. I waited patiently.... Then it's my turn, and no car behind me. "Sorry, we are closed", then the lights turned off right in front of me after the female staff told me that. Really!!?? Did you see I was in line before 9:30pm? Did you not to realize you took long time to place the previous order? I've been told by some employees that we are allowed to walk through the drive thru when the lobby is closed, however some people get mad and yell at you for doing so. I would advise anyone thinking of going to this KFC to consider another place to go for fast food. This is perhaps the worst KFC in the entire area. Customer service is the poorest I have ever experienced. I swore two years age that I would never go to this KFC again when they wouldn't honor national or local coupons for reduced prices on meals. I even called the corporate offices to complain and they said that it was an individual franchise and they could make their own policies if they choose. The owner could care less about dealing with the public. Most recently, I finally caved when my wife wanted the KFC mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner. I ordered an 8 piece meal bucket, with two sides and 4 rolls. I ordered 4 legs, 2 thighs, and 2 breasts and paid extra for the breasts. I had to wait until the rolls were done, an extra 15 minutes, but when they were done, an employee brought my meal, in a large bag, to my car. When I got home, I discovered that they didn't include my 4 legs in the bucket. I called immediately, but no one answered the phone, and a short time later they were closed. I called the next day, and was told by the manager on duty, "I'm sorry, but you have to call on the same day". When I told him I tried to call but no one answered, he said, sorry about that, but they can't just take my word for it, (even with a receipt). I could call in a complaint, fill out a form, and then they would decide whether or not they would reimburse me for the chicken legs. They are not too speedy with the orders, and I have learned to check my bag when going through the drive through because they have forgotten an item or two in the past. Food was okay, service sucked. Asked for 2 piece dark with 2 drumlegs, received thigh and leg. Also ordered chicken little meal, fries were cold, old and gross. Didn't get condiments for meal to go, no spork, nor napkins. Called to complain, manager took my name and promised to replace food the next day since we live in Dallas, apologized and said she'd speak to staff. Went in today to pick up the food promised and the person in charge refused starting that they do not have a list and can't honor that promise made by someone else and said to call the owner and provided the number to call. The owner, while somewhat sympathetic, basically said if I send him a receipt and my address, he'd refund for any food ordered but not received only. He then said "no offense but I always check my bag before I leave McDonald's because they have staff like mine and forget things". Sounds like a nice way to shift the responsibility to the customer to make sure his employees do their job. I should not be so trusting that the staff at his restaurant can do their jobs and that, as the owner, he would train his staff on store policies, "my policy". Besides never once getting my order right or having want I want without a 15 min wait. The manager has never been apologetic for their services short comings but the experience that lead me to write this review is as follows: I ordered a pot pie and they asked if I wanted it in a $5 meal I said no because I am not into wasting food and didn't want anything else so I get to the window and they charge me $5.50 because I only got the pot pie and not the meal. My husband stops by on evenings where we have both been extremely busy. Yes it is expensive for three chicken strips, one side and a biscuit, but to spent $10.00 to $14.00 for two meal that aren't cooked completely is ridiculous. This has happened the last several times. We live about twenty minutes outside of town, so for my husband to turn around and take the food back is out of the question. I usually just finish cooking the chicken, but last week I had, had enough so I called. I was asked to bring the food back, when I explained the time it would take us to get back I was told no problem, our names would be written down and the next time we were in town we would get replacement meals. We had to go into town on Saturday so after doing all our errands we stopped by expecting two meals. We were told by the Manager that we had to bring the meals back. I don't know about you but I usually don't keep food in my fridge that has the possibility of getting botulism. I had thrown the food out, if I had been ask when I made the first phone call to keep the food I would have gladly put it in the freezer. Needless to say KFC is no longer on our list of places to eat in Monmouth - Independence. We spent a little more, just under $20.00 at the Wonderful Mexican Restaurant in Independence -San Antonio's, had a wonderful meal, friendly, fantastic and had leftovers for the next day.
