First of all, I just can't understand why this place changes names and themes every couple of…read moreyears? I'm pretty sure it used to be Italian, And before that it was something else, but it does seem to have a new name every time I check into the attached Holiday Inn. Tonight's issue was all on poor management! Maybe I should change that to terrible management.... Hope they make some improvements or the restaurant will be a Tex-Mex or Asian theme the next time I come to town! I checked into the Holiday Inn and wanted to get a decent meal. Decided to give The Rivers a try. It was a pretty busy Thursday night, almost all the seats at the bar were occupied including a large party table with 8 guests. There was some kind of event going on in the banquet hall in back and the dinning area was a less than half full. I did find a seat at the bar and immediately noticed the poor bartender was overwhelmed. Not necessarily because he was a bad bartender, more because he just didn't have any help. I wasn't really in a hurry so I decided to stay. During my time at the bar I watched as waitresses came in to order drinks, and not even think to help. I also saw a guy that I'm going to assume was the manager come in to get some change for the back room party bar... and also did not offer any help. The bartender had to serve drinks and food to everyone at the bar, including the group of 8 at the party bar. The waitresses would come in with the food, but only stood there until the bartender came and got it from them.. gave no thought to actually serving to to a customer to help out. In fact when my food came in, I actually had to tell the waitress twice that it was my food before she reluctantly served it to me! They were also out of glasses at the bar. The poor bartender had to individually wash each glass as it came in so he could refill it! He also ran out of $10 bills, so anyone getting change got multiple $5 or singles! There were also a number of times that overflow guests from the back room decided they could come up and get drinks quicker at the bar. They were even coming up for water!! Poor bartender... Poor customers like me who's drinks were empty forever as the bartender washed a dirty glasses to fill them with water orders for the customers from the party in the back! Unbelievable! The food was okay. I had the Double BLT. I like it, except the toast (bread) had a little too much garlic. I also ordered their special Brat Cheese Soup (Which came out well after my meal... instead of before). When it did come out it was still warm, but it had that film on it that comes from sitting under a heat lamp waiting for one of the waitresses to remember to bring it out! The soup was a very salty, but I did like it. Oh yeah.. one more thing that ticked me off! Even though they are a Holliday Inn Restauraunt, their system is not set up to charge your bill to your room, which isn't that big of a deal. But I'm a IHG Point collector so I couldn't get my points!! Management better start advertising for bartenders or retrain their staff to help out, because your not only going to lose bartenders... your going to lose customers.

I would like to preface that me and my friends all have service/restaurant experience, so when we…read moresay it was bad it was BAD. It was five of us, and we ordered breakfast and appetizers. One of us had a custom omelet but otherwise nothing that should've taken longer than 10 min to cook. For one, we waited twenty minutes for drinks, and all of us ordered water. the place was half empty. Then, we waited almost 1.5 hours for our food to show up, and it became blatantly obvious that they forgot our order or messed up something, even though the order was submitted via a tablet by the waitress. We had explicitly asked for appetizers to show up with the rest of the food, and they brought it out early anyway. Then a second set of appetizers showed up that we never ordered. When they started to bring out the rest of the food, there was a noticeable gap between the first half and second half of food. We were asked by three different people if we got all of our food and food was brought out one item at a time. By the time we got our food we wish we had left and weren't hungry anymore. And you would hope with how long it took that our food would be phenomenal. NO. Pancakes were crunchy like chips and the portion size was pathetic. The actual chips tasted like plywood. The food was lukewarm or cold. The only item that was to par was the artichoke dip. As I said, I have restaurant experience so I tend to be forgiving in most cases. Most of the time it's one part of the operation that's slowing things down. In this restaurant, everything is fucked. The cooks were slow and not good at their job, the waiters were in no hurry and did not update us on our food. The management didn't seem in command of anything going on and it looked like they just went with the flow instead of addressing issues. And again, this restaurant was barely half full and there were at least three waiters walking around. By the time our food showed up, it was far beyond lunch rush if there was even one to begin with. Do not go to this place. There is nothing here worth going through the effort for, unless if you want to waste two hours of your Sunday watching simple orders get messed up and noticing questionable management decisions. The best way to describe this place is the episode of Rick and Morty when they are in the Denny's (S3 E1). It was like an alternate dimension. The silverware was magnetic. The only accessible bathroom stall is the handicap one, all the doors in the regular stalls are so close to the toilets that you couldn't enter one. The decor was strange. Everything was metal and pastel, it felt like a low quality indie game or an early 2010's 3D animated children's show on Disney channel.
