Small KFC branch, just off the road connecting the 2 main cities in N. Ireland and does get quite a lot of trade from passing people.

The Hudson Bar - Mirror, mirror on the wall what's the best bar of them all?

Firstly I thought that on a Friday afternoon that the place would be rammed and I'd have to wait an age to get ripped in to those tiny, tender poultry pieces but I was wrong I walked in ordered at the bar and less than 15 minutes later I was presented with a wooden bowl of 33 glazed buffalo wings - all for £8.95! The price was good and the wings did live up to the hype but I wouldn't say they were earth shattering. There was just the right amount of glaze but the wings themselves lacked meat. Yesterday's visit to The Hudson reaffirmed how good the bar is in my eyes - it's such a jack of all trades - serves a whole host of different beers - I had the Sam Adams, something that you don't see too often in Belfast. It really is the perfect place to garb some wings and have a beer on a Friday afternoon.

I had a club sandwich which was served with skinny fries & a nice little bit of salad, really enjoyed it all. My husband had the steak sandwich with chunky chips which got a thumbs up from him. Will definitely be back I'm back! Having food before my birthday party which is happening upstairs, tonight I went for scampi & chips....yum! Menu is limited but what they do, they do well. Table had a mix of chunky chips, skinny fries & sweet potato fries all of which are delicious

Ohhh Papa, come to Mama. You're heaven in a pizza box…read more Oh yes, Papa Johns' pizza is (in my opinion) the best tasting pizza around. Everything about it screams perfection - the dough is always so soft and fluffy, the toppings are spot-on, and the sides just add to the whole experience. It's definitely pizza love (sorry Pizza Hut, you come a close second). When Papa John's came to Northern Ireland a few years ago, I'd never heard of it. The first pizzeria opened in Dundonald, and the second in Dungannon not long after. To this day, these are the only two branches in Northern Ireland, unfortunately. Luckily for me though, it's a mere five minutes down the road. And they do free delivery (usually in super-quick time) if you spend £10 or more. Oh, I am a lucky girl... Papa Johns have consistently good offers on, with a buy one get one free 'Early Week Special' (or BOGOF if you prefer, though that could really be disastrously misinterpreted) on Monday and Tuesday, as well as special carry out prices - £12 for any large pizza which has three or less toppings. I personally love their meal deals - meal for three = medium (12") pizza, potato wedges / garlic pizza bread, chicken wings / chicken dippers and a 1.25 litre drink for £14. The cheese and tomato pizza is a safe, but incredibly tasty option, and the chicken bbq is always a good call. If you're in and around Dundonald, Papa Johns will satisfy all your pizza needs. Mmmm...

However more and more in recent years there have been a large range of Pizza places popping up that are frankly mediocre.Fortunatel that isn't the case at all with Papa John's! This is the only branch of Papa John's in Northern Ireland which is astounding to me considering its success and prominence worldwide! On both Mondays and Tuesdays this place does buy one get one free offers which trumps even the might dominoes! The pizzas here are great. The pizza bases are delicious with really tasty crusts, so you want to eat the whole thing rather than littering your house with leftover bread ! The sides in the store are better than you would get at dominoes too, with their chicken wings and chicken dippers surprisingly tasty! You can customise your pizza any way you want, so if you love pizza in anyway like me, feel free to head to Papa John's and grab a pizza of the action! ;)

My dining companion and I began with starters of vegan loaded potato skins and garlic pizza bread with vegan mozzarella. So far, so good. Comforting junk food, numerous vegan items clearly marked VG on menu and attentive service from waiting staff. We both opted for Viva La Vegan Burger mains which were extremely tasty. Desserts consisted of delicious mini Lotus Biscoff vegan cheesecakes and Americano coffees. My dining companion wanted a soya milk latte but unfortunately they were out of soya milk, but the Americano coffee was good. Ultimately a thoroughly enjoyable experience, much better than I expected...

We had the Frankie's super deal or something, 15 inch pizza and 3 pasta plates of choice (we went for pepperoni pizza with Mac and cheese, carbonara and lasagne) between my husband, son and I. The food was great, pasta was well cooked and well seasoned, arrived timely and hot, reasonably priced at £24. Had to wait forever for someone to come by and ask for the check too. Toilets were also clean and they had a few. This place has potential to be a great place to eat, and very conveniently located with good parking.

Our lunch in Browns in Town was a feast that probably could have tied us over until the next day…read more The meal was so filling that I felt I would need a wheelbarrow to be led away. But the food we ordered was worth feeling so full because it was wicked good. Located on Strand Road in downtown Derry, outside the City Walls, Browns in Town has a modern interior with brown wood walls in the primary dining area and a little postmodern-styled lounge in the front entrance. The vibes are fairly relaxed where you don't feel you have to dress up outside of jeans and a shirt to enjoy a meal. The food per our experience is certainly that of comfort and quality. One aspect my wife and I loved about Browns in Town, and many of the restaurants we visited in Northern Ireland and the Republic, is that on the menu we know which dishes are celiac friendly or have a celiac option, and note all the allergens present -- e.g., gluten, shellfish, dairy, eggs, nuts, etc. My wife is celiac, so this allowed us to choose this restaurant since it offers many gluten-free options -- and not just salad. Both of us ordered the local seafood chowder (I had the gluten version, while she had the celiac option), which was creamy, buttery, and delicious, loaded with a variety of seafood caught in the area and served with homemade bread. The Mushroom & Black Garlic Risotto was out of this world, with the pine nuts and parmesan providing a nice balance with primary ingredients -- also luscious and rich. The chefs cooked the risotto to perfection. I probably was fine just ordering that, as the black garlic chips (fries to us Americans) were overkill, but I couldn't help myself being at a restaurant for the first time in a city I have never visited before. My wife had the beer-battered cod in the gluten-free option and incredibly tasty, especially when combined with the mushy peas and tartar sauce. We didn't even attempt to order dessert because we were full to the point of being in a food coma. Fortunately, we had a lot of walking around ahead of us, which helped work off our meal a little. But I would absolutely return to enjoy some of the other fares they have on the menu.
