We hadn't booked anywhere but had intended to dine in Embers next door. Embers refused us entry due to reservations. Uluru gave us a warm welcome. They looked after us very well. The seating was comfy, has an open kitchen and it was quite a large dining space. I did something out of character ordering a burger & chips (£16). Apparently the chips are hand cut I suppose rather than machine cut. I'm not sure it matters really, what matters is the potato, freshness, the cooking medium and cooking temperature. It wasn't cold pressed olive oil used for frying - that would impress, rather than spuds being hand cut. I didn't enjoy the chips. I didn't like the taste. I don't think they were fried at the right temperature and doubt they were maris piper spuds. My burger was venison another first for me topped with pasteurised Brie. It was tasty; my wife has a beef & bird burger(£16) which she enjoyed. They were tasty served on factory - made not hand - made bread rolls. Stripping it all back it was (albeit) two tasty burger & chips, two cappuccinos (£4 each) and a glass of wine (£7) total £50. It ain't a bargain now. The risk is that folk will cook at home or opt instead for international cheap rubbish fast food choices. Customers will be sensitive to price gouging especially as energy costs are dropping. I buy grass fed Irish fillet steak and the kilo price hasn't changed in three years, but no one should ever forget how we all got here. It's courtesy of a bunch of robbing scoundrels pretending to govern. They pretend they lowered inflation but Arab states did that. They've imposed austerity on the population for 13 years that's not needed. They've hollowed out every aspect of critical public service to near death. They've weaponised the benefits system against the poor and sick which isn't generous to start with (lowest pension paid in Europe from the 3rd richest country in Europe) and Truss one out of five useless spiv prime ministers who lost £120 billion inside a few weeks lost her job after 45 days but has just taken her £125k annual PM pension for life. So Cameron also gets £125k like May, like Johnston and when he is kicked out Sunak and he will be kicked out we'll be forking out well over half a million quid annually to sheer chancers pretending to be tories who have left the country in ruination and poverty. They wouldn't recognise a real Tory policy if they stood on it barefoot. And as for this statelet, well don't get me started let's just say we got the politicians we truly deserve; a first minister totally untouched by experience and a potential deputy first minister who really is just a cowardly shiver looking for a spine to crawl up. He won't give up his Westminster salary so all you suckers who vote for this gutless shiver can go to the chippy if you can find one open.

The pate was light, almost a soft mousse, served with excellent soda style bread, a chutney and side salad. The main sirloin was a thin cut and delightful piece of meat really darn good. It reminded me of the entrecôte served up throughout cafes in France, also known as steak-frites, thin-sliced hanger steak similarly cooked by the French to order. It was served here with a generous portion of chunky chips, pepper sauce and side salad. I asked for champ instead of chips and it was no problem. I'm delighted to say we return here in a few weeks and reserved a table for six.

I opted for a steak & chips but it was a close run thing to a delicious sounding vegetarian risotto but it was my third dine out in 4 days with the other two being non meat, so steak it was. I asked for medium; I got medium. The meat was really flavoursome too. I asked for English mustard (best in the world) and it was a yes and I flipped the onion rings for tobacco onions and it was no problem. Just to note in passing the number of so called steak houses that don't have English mustard is as staggering as it is unacceptable. The tasty steak had a bacon jam spread atop. I'd never heard of it. It was salty, sweet so bacon, balsamic vinegar maybe sugar, I ate it all though my personal preference remains mustard. I'd like to try it as a spread on toasted crumpets with a lightly fried egg on top. The only thing I would change in my meal is the pepper sauce but again it's personal taste as I'd add double cream and a lot more black pepper. My wife opted for salmon and she declared it delicious. It also offers sweet crepes (£4) and waffles. So I got one with ham, onion and egg and my wife opted for ham and onion. We also ordered a flat white and a cappuccino at £2.4 each. The coffees were very good too so no downsides on food, food quality, food portions, temperature and great service. It Audi has soups, toasties, sandwiches and panini. I paid on ordering which meant when we were done we could just up and go. This place has only one downside, it's a small, and narrow place inside with only two tables, with most seating on stools. It's also an ice cream parlour and a sweet shop. There's a large choice of ice cream cones to choose from too. The ice cream is Morelli's, which I can't say I've ever had, and the vivid colours put me off - they have to be artificial. They did have a pooh bear equivalent (I'm a Mauds pooh bear honeycomb fan) but really I couldn't get beyond that blue colouring.

On my way back to the car I spotted this coffee place just adjacent to where I'd parked so I picked up a take out cappuccino - it was a good size, great tasting and I think £2.79. I tried to pay with Revolut but their card machine was broken so folding money it was. Had a bit of banter with the barista as he made my brew so all in all pleasant. I'd give it 3 green stars for their locally made produce and the degradable coffee cups and no pressure to use a plastic lid. I sat in my car and listened to John Denver's Wildlife Concert. A highlight is the Gourmet Night - I have been to one (Italian themed - however each night is themed differently) but do plan to go to many more as I had the most amazing night. Five courses of truly outstanding food and accompanying wines - absolutely scrumptious. A beautiful night (very reasonably priced) and the service was impeccable. Better food than I've had in New York, London, Edinburgh, Madrid, Barcelona and many other cities around the world. Can't praise this place enough - the people of Armagh are extremely lucky to have this gem of a restaurant...
