We hadn't booked anywhere but had intended to dine in Embers next door. Embers refused us entry due to reservations. Uluru gave us a warm welcome. They looked after us very well. The seating was comfy, has an open kitchen and it was quite a large dining space. I did something out of character ordering a burger & chips (£16). Apparently the chips are hand cut I suppose rather than machine cut. I'm not sure it matters really, what matters is the potato, freshness, the cooking medium and cooking temperature. It wasn't cold pressed olive oil used for frying - that would impress, rather than spuds being hand cut. I didn't enjoy the chips. I didn't like the taste. I don't think they were fried at the right temperature and doubt they were maris piper spuds. My burger was venison another first for me topped with pasteurised Brie. It was tasty; my wife has a beef & bird burger(£16) which she enjoyed. They were tasty served on factory - made not hand - made bread rolls. Stripping it all back it was (albeit) two tasty burger & chips, two cappuccinos (£4 each) and a glass of wine (£7) total £50. It ain't a bargain now. The risk is that folk will cook at home or opt instead for international cheap rubbish fast food choices. Customers will be sensitive to price gouging especially as energy costs are dropping. I buy grass fed Irish fillet steak and the kilo price hasn't changed in three years, but no one should ever forget how we all got here. It's courtesy of a bunch of robbing scoundrels pretending to govern. They pretend they lowered inflation but Arab states did that. They've imposed austerity on the population for 13 years that's not needed. They've hollowed out every aspect of critical public service to near death. They've weaponised the benefits system against the poor and sick which isn't generous to start with (lowest pension paid in Europe from the 3rd richest country in Europe) and Truss one out of five useless spiv prime ministers who lost £120 billion inside a few weeks lost her job after 45 days but has just taken her £125k annual PM pension for life. So Cameron also gets £125k like May, like Johnston and when he is kicked out Sunak and he will be kicked out we'll be forking out well over half a million quid annually to sheer chancers pretending to be tories who have left the country in ruination and poverty. They wouldn't recognise a real Tory policy if they stood on it barefoot. And as for this statelet, well don't get me started let's just say we got the politicians we truly deserve; a first minister totally untouched by experience and a potential deputy first minister who really is just a cowardly shiver looking for a spine to crawl up. He won't give up his Westminster salary so all you suckers who vote for this gutless shiver can go to the chippy if you can find one open.

It reminded me of the entrecôte served up throughout cafes in France, also known as steak-frites, thin-sliced hanger steak similarly cooked by the French to order.
