A highlight is the Gourmet Night - I have been to one (Italian themed - however each night is themed differently) but do plan to go to many more as I had the most amazing night. Five courses of truly outstanding food and accompanying wines - absolutely scrumptious. A beautiful night (very reasonably priced) and the service was impeccable. Better food than I've had in New York, London, Edinburgh, Madrid, Barcelona and many other cities around the world. Ample free car parking, large airy cafe/restaurant with plenty of seating and not badly priced either. Don't be expecting gourmet cuisine here, they do not even offer the staple spud bread with breakfast (WTF???) VEGETARIANS NEED NOT APPLY Clean and you get a free coffee refill (don't bother, I saw thinner looking sludge come out of the arse of a 1942 Massey Fergusson) A Workman's dream, plenty of grease and meat on offer, if you have a more delicate palate opt for the local freezing works. I just about hit the deadline but others in the queue after me were also allowed the deal. Pretty decent of Greggs and the young servers are ace friendly. In contrast I was in a local Spar (Monaghan St Newry) recently which has a similar deal ending at 11:30am but I was denied the deal as it was a minute past the time, but facts didn't seem to matter, particularly that the server was inside a kitchen area, that the food I wanted was still in on the hot plate and I was waiting for service at 11:30. I politely left empty-handed and won't bother returning. There's a Greggs 5 minutes away from here. Anyway back to Greggs. I wanted a croissant with my cappuccino but they were all gone so I had to choose something else and ended up with a sausage roll. My first Greggs sausage roll. A meat one not the vegetarian option and it was £2.55 in total. The cappuccino is machine dispensed so it's borderline 3 star. The sausage roll had flaky water based pastry l, it was hot and full of the sort of rubbish I mostly avoid and it tasted as cheap meat and anything with 22 grams of fat - 13 grams of which are saturated - does. Hopefully next time they'll have croissants next time.

The food was excellent, the price was great and Paddy made us feel at home. There were three of us and we had salmon, turkey and ham and roast beef. All three meals were great. The restaurant is in an old church hall and as the name suggests is themed Heraldic. At 6 pm it was quite busy. We all plumped for the Early Bird menu, served from 16:30 to 18:30 two courses, main and dessert (£12.95). True to form our two offspring decided that they'd also have a starter. Hang the budget! Daughter went for scallops with black pudding fritters in a celeriac sauce while son ordered the beetroot and goat's cheese salad. Due to the chef's oversight, the goat's cheese arrived but the beetroot was AWOL. This was corrected promptly with apologies. For main course we had chicken goujons with salad and a spicy dip, steakburger with onion marmalade and grilled cheddar (x2) (in one case blue cheese was requested, and served, in place of the cheddar) and beef stroganoff (x2). I had the latter and loved it. Home-made chunky chips accompanied some of the dishes; they were beautifully cooked and couldn't be faulted a remark that applies across the board. All present tried the Tobacco Onions. Very good. Desserts (from a choice of four) were lemon tart (x2), Bailey's Cream and white chocolate cheesecake and pavlova. Wife strayed from the menu and ordered ice-cream. A pint of lager, vodka and mixer, three diet cokes and four Cappuchinos were the beverages consumed. Total Bill: £100.10. Fine. The food was both delicious and plentiful. We all left the restaurant agreeing that a return trip was inevitable. I have no hesitation in recommending Viscounts.
