The Hudson Bar - Mirror, mirror on the wall what's the best bar of them all?

Recently I've heard a lot about The Hudson's famous Chicken Wings so I thought I better check them…read moreout. Firstly I thought that on a Friday afternoon that the place would be rammed and I'd have to wait an age to get ripped in to those tiny, tender poultry pieces but I was wrong I walked in ordered at the bar and less than 15 minutes later I was presented with a wooden bowl of 33 glazed buffalo wings - all for £8.95! The price was good and the wings did live up to the hype but I wouldn't say they were earth shattering. There was just the right amount of glaze but the wings themselves lacked meat. Yesterday's visit to The Hudson reaffirmed how good the bar is in my eyes - it's such a jack of all trades - serves a whole host of different beers - I had the Sam Adams, something that you don't see too often in Belfast. It really is the perfect place to garb some wings and have a beer on a Friday afternoon.

I had a club sandwich which was served with skinny fries & a nice little bit of salad, really enjoyed it all. My husband had the steak sandwich with chunky chips which got a thumbs up from him. Will definitely be back I'm back! Having food before my birthday party which is happening upstairs, tonight I went for scampi & chips....yum! Menu is limited but what they do, they do well. Table had a mix of chunky chips, skinny fries & sweet potato fries all of which are delicious

Not usually a fan of Frankie & Benny's, but enjoyed my visit to this branch on 13/06/2019. Heard…read morethe chain has recently started offering vegan options, so was curious to find out more and try them. My dining companion and I began with starters of vegan loaded potato skins and garlic pizza bread with vegan mozzarella. So far, so good. Comforting junk food, numerous vegan items clearly marked VG on menu and attentive service from waiting staff. We both opted for Viva La Vegan Burger mains which were extremely tasty. Desserts consisted of delicious mini Lotus Biscoff vegan cheesecakes and Americano coffees. My dining companion wanted a soya milk latte but unfortunately they were out of soya milk, but the Americano coffee was good. Ultimately a thoroughly enjoyable experience, much better than I expected...

Food was a solid 4, but the inattentive service kinda pulled it down. We had the Frankie's super deal or something, 15 inch pizza and 3 pasta plates of choice (we went for pepperoni pizza with Mac and cheese, carbonara and lasagne) between my husband, son and I. The food was great, pasta was well cooked and well seasoned, arrived timely and hot, reasonably priced at £24. Had to wait forever for someone to come by and ask for the check too. Toilets were also clean and they had a few. This place has potential to be a great place to eat, and very conveniently located with good parking.

My wife and I dined here on a Thursday night while on tour in Belfast. It was recommended by our…read moretour guide, and we were lucky and got in without a reservation. The ambiance, service and food were all excellent! I ordered the 16 ounce Chateau Briand filet cut, and finished searing the slices on the hot rock at the table just to my liking. The steak was excellent, and the experience was great fun! I paired it with a local Rye River Lil' Bangin' IPA and was very happy! Price was reasonable. My wife had the Chicken Supreme and also greatly enjoyed her meal. We would visit regularly if it was in the States! Will visit again when back in Belfast.

We only had a few days in Belfast and figured why not make one of them a steak night. The concept…read moreat Stix and Stones is somewhat unique. Effectively, you finish your own meats on a hot stone brought to your table. It is great for steak since you have no one to blame but yourself if it ends up over cooked. We decided to go with the 3 course theater option. What a deal! Honestly, I was expecting to drop a lot more cash for a steak dinner and figured they would have to make up for it by providing smaller portions, however, that was not the case. We started with mussels and the goat cheese. Tons of mussels in a tasty white sauce made my day. The goat cheese dish was just ok. We got a steak meal and a tuna for our mains. Loved them both. Then, we opted for an amazing Baked Alaska for dessert - great call and highly recommended. Service was on point. I appreciate how often they checked in, whether to see if we need more drinks or to ensure we were comfortable with our food. They never made us feel rushed nor did they intrude. As I mentioned, the price was well within line of expectations and the special was a deal. They did not skip on overall value at any point of the meal. I am not sure if I'll be back to belfast, but if I am, I will be back to Stix and Stones.
