Well, it is now a Sunday family tradition for me to pick up KFC, and bring it to my parents. It actually looks like the prices came down a bit, which is great for the pocket. I like how the worker said "Howzit, what can I get you, boss?" Eh, can pass for one local! Ordered the 8 piece family meal. They were out of cole slaw, so I got corn. The extra crispy is the way to go! We didn't finish it all, so a couple days later, I had the last piece which was still crunchy. I love cold fried chicken! Love their bithkits too! LOL! Changed the location to Kailua & you get the advertised price of $10.00. Kaneohe Store has bad management, went to the store to pickup an order & they did'nt have coleslaw! Employee apologized & I told him not his fault. I'll notify the corporate office & let them know what's going on in Kaneohe, even if it's a franchise store, they should not advertise, promises they don't intend to honor! This review is specifically for the fried chicken offered at KFC and their customer service. There are 17 locations of KFC in HI, with the Kaneohe location opened around 1987 or 1988 in the Windward City Shopping Center. Originally known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, it changed its name to KFC in 1991 to appeal to health-conscious consumers, as well as to shorten its name. The restaurant chain is known for its buckets of fried chicken, combo meals, sandwiches, sides, chicken pot pie, and bowls. Since I was in the area, I visited the Kaneohe location of KFC to order their Tuesday special of 8 pieces dark meat chicken (4 drumsticks + 4 thighs) for $10. It sounded like a deal. I ordered all pieces original, knowing the extra crispy did not have any taste. Yes, all 8 pieces came with a bucket, but it was so misaligned, as the bucket was so much bigger than the actual chicken. Yes, the chicken pieces were puny, as the drumsticks looked like drumettes, and the thighs were so small. One drumstick actually showed a side of the bone, with the meat gone. All chicken pieces were also greasy. The chickens were tasteless. Even at this good deal, the chickens' quality is compromised, which made this deal not a good one. Now I know why I haven't had KFC for years. Three stars for the chicken. I was told that this special was on my app. So, as I was trying to finalize my order on my app, I was having a problem, as it kept saying that this special was not applicable to this location. Fortunately, there were no customers in the store, so two staff members (CJ and a female worker) helped me to delete the app and reinsert it into my cell phone, as well as to ensure proper info was inputted. The two individuals were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and so I was very grateful that they helped me. Other places would have just told me that I had to do it on my own. Add on another star for their helpfulness and friendly attitude. Minimal staff at this small KFC location, with most of their customer contact is via drive-through. Staff is very friendly. It was slow during the peak lunch hour. They have a nice interior dining area that is clean and bright. Hours of operation are daily 10:30a to 9:30p. Free parking in shopping complex that is shared with other businesses. I remember the days of the past when KFC was the best chicken around with its regular original batter or extra crispy batter. You would find buckets of chicken at many potlucks around town. And now, I just couldn't believe how tiny their chickens are and greasy they are. No wonder I haven't been part of the scene for many years. What happened to its quality? If the Colonel was still around, I'm sure he would be very upset. We were at Windward City Shopping Center and wanted to get something for dinner. It was late, around 7:10pm. I wanted to try the dim sum spot but they closed at 7. We decided on KFC and ordered on the phone app. Luckily, they closed at 8. I ordered some extra crispy chicken pieces and mashed potatoes. The hubby ordered a Nashville Hot Mac & Cheese Bowl. When we went to pick up our food, it still wasn't ready. They told me that if I wanted the extra crispy chicken it would take another 20 minutes. However, they had the original recipe chicken ready if I was ok with that. I went with the original instead of waiting another 20 minutes. They also messed up with the Nashville Hot Mac & Cheese Bowl. He just got the regular Mac & Cheese Bowl. The food was still good though and the cashier was nice. read more

I placed my order on the app and arrived approximately 5 minutes after it's completion. I went up to the counter and was observed by three employees, one of which I believe to be the manager. None of them approached, welcomed, or acknowledged my being there. I waited 7 minutes, saying my meal on their metal rack. Finally, when the manager looked at me for the third time I waved my hands and said "Hello". The woman who I believe to have been the manager walked up front and said "What do you want?" I told her I believed that was my meal sitting on their counter, she looked and asked my first and last name. I wanted to converse with her about my long waiting, and she simply looked over my shoulder at the next customer in line and refused to reply. This "KFC" is located in the Winward City Shopping Center in Kaneohe. I was driving through town and decided to pop in for a quick meal. Because I dined in, and because the food didn't have to endure the rigors of travel, the plate that they served me was aesthetically "picture perfect", and the taste was textbook good. The store was very clean and well maintained. But I can tell that this restaurant is still feeling the aftereffects of the pandemic. There seemed to be a shortage of workers; and the store seems to be focused on drive-thru business with occasional walk-ins. My only complaint? There was a note posted in the entrance stating that the bathroom was closed; but, if necessary, there was a restroom available next to the sushi restaurant. Out of my 53 years of life this was by far the best tasting chicken from KFC I have ever tasted. It was not drenched in grease like main land KFC, rather you could actually taste the chicken and thoroughly enjoy the extra crispy taste. I went through the drive thru and although it took quite a bit of time to get to the window, it was well worth it! Further, the guy that served me at the window was very pleasant and friendly on Saturday evening around 6:00 pm, 10/5/2024. Didn't catch his name. This is one of the worst fast food restaurants on the island. Service is poor and I didn't even get a chance to taste the food because of their issues. I ordered online and when I arrived and finally got a rep inside the store, was told no wraps were available. I asked why the app allowed me to order wraps if they were out, but she didn't know. I immediately asked for the order (almost $65) to be cancelled and she told me that she couldn't do that, I would have to call KFC customer service. She first gave me the toll-free number for door dash, and then finally for their customer service. It took me 15 minutes on the phone to cancel my order and I had to talk to two representatives. The money has been refunded, but I will never return to KFC. The lack of customer service is the big decision. read more

Chicken pot pie in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii... My friend, Donna O., was urging me to get the Chicken Pot Pie at Kentucky Fried Chicken. She said that I would like the buttery, flakey crust... hmmm... sounded intriguing! So, I went to Windward City Shopping Center where there's abundant free parking. I entered the deserted restaurant where there was one customer ahead of me. I stayed more than 6 feet away and waited for my turn. The lone cashier manned the cash register and tended to the drive-through window as well as us walk-ins. Two cooks were busy in the open kitchen. When I was called forward, I ordered a Chicken Pot Pie and paid with my credit card. In just a few minutes, my order was filled and I drove home. I'm really glad that I ate this meal at home because I had easy access to soap and running water. Even though there's only a top crust (no bottom crust), it's wrapped around the edge of the aluminum foil pie pan, so I had to peel the crust off the perimeter and break it up into the pie pan to soak up the gravy... mmm! The shredded chicken was better than having cubed chicken - it had more flavor and was more tender this way! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the pot pie! First, the food is great as always. But...... I placed an order through the app at 4:30, for a 5pm pickup. Just two pot pies and some biscuits. Got to the restaurant 10 minutes early and was prepared to have to wait, but the car in front of me was by the order area for over 10 minutes before I finally decided to park and walk in. There were several people in the back, but I only saw one girl at the front counter. I mentioned to her that the car at the drive thru was there for 10 minutes, and she said she's training someone. No problem, I thought the people were indecisive and didn't blame the staff. Told the girl I was there to pick up a mobile order, and she looked at the computer and said they "just got it"--and that it's not their fault. I didn't mind waiting, so I sat down but a minute later she plopped a package on the counter and just said, "here" and walked away. Should have checked the order before leaving. First, in lieu of the beverage bucket, they gave us 2 large drinks instead. Ok. Figured they ran out of the beverage bucket containers. No big deal. Got the order home - went to take a drink - nothing but carbonated water. Apparently the machine was out of Sierra Mist syrup. Darn. Total rip-off. 8 piece meal with no drink or dessert was way less than $40. Unpacked the bag - no chocolate chip cookies. Double damn. So, no drinks and no dessert. Went to make plates and...only 8 pieces of chicken. Seriously?! Definitely contacting GrubHub support for a refund. Also, check your orders before you leave and taste your drinks. This is the place we used to go to get Chicken on the way home. The food is what you would expect from KFC and it is good; however, the cardboard "to go" containers are flimsy, low quality and the entire gravy spilled all over the other containers by the time we got home to Kailua. In addition, our order was not right. Instead of 4 pieces of chicken thighs we ordered there were only two. The bag as stacked so high, I had to lean it sideways to get it into our car window, which probably contributed to the spill. The Cashier didn't go over our order, just asked for payment. Sadly we will probably not return after giving them business for the past three years. I hope the owner of this franchise reads this and can take steps to improve customer service and reliable packaging to keep loyal customers coming back. read more

First, I LOVE KFC. However, I don't know what's happened to this franchise. Their food quality has diminished while their prices have skyrocketed. My bride and I were lucky to be able to have lunch together this past week (this NEVER happens mid-week). Since we only had an hour to get from her work, eat, and get back, I suggested that we head to KFC because it was close and we both had been salivating over the "bowls" we've seen advertised on TV. Good idea right? WRONG!!! First, we walk in and the place is filthy. I kid you not, there was trash and food on the floor, and the tables hadn't been wiped in some time. Not the greatest if starts. I really had a Purell moment and felt I needed to douse the joint down. Second, we approached the counter to hear a VERY rude Eastern European tourist berating the counter person who was, to her credit, being as pleasant as humanly possible. I have very little tolerance for this behavior. Kudos to her. This is the only reason this place gets a star at all . . . well, and Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars. After scanning the menu board, we thought that the 5 piece finger meal looked good. But it was almost $12!!! Really?!?!?! So the Mrs suggested we share. Sadly, the food we got was nothing like we expected - disappointing in both quality and quantity. When my husband went to ask about our order, he told them that we have been waiting for 30 minutes. Turns out I was really stupid when I was a kid and my grandma's tastebuds are dead. KFC is not good. The food tastes bland and old and dry. It's more expensive than other places. After getting home in Kahaluu, many miles away and starving already, we noticed that our large bag, which had two servings of mashed potatoes, had ZERO container of gravy. WTH! * Biscuits were HORRIBLE. Our order came with 4 biscuits and all of them were super dry and super hard. It was bad. I don't remember a time when it was ever this bad. Someone needs to ensure that orders are filled correctly and food is up to par before it goes out to customers. KFC chicken speaks for itself and everyone knows what it tastes like. This review is on the staff that helped me tonight. From Charity, to Leann and Kevin they all were helpful with my order. I ordered all white meat and they patiently explained to me how long it would take and why it took so long since they needed to hand-bread all the pieces. I really wanted the white meat so I waited the 20mins. During that time they made me feel welcome and talked story to make the time go by fast. The restaurant was clean and everyone there appeared to really enjoy working there. I have read all the reviews here but I had a great time today and that's why I am giving it 5-stars. She asked to take our order so we ordered and then waited for a couple of minutes with dead silence. When she came back on she asked to take our order again so we repeated it. We asked if they had butter and honey for the biscuits and the response was "is that what you want?". Got to the window and she barely said a word to us except for when we were driving away. Now the food- ugh! The extra crispy chicken was anything but. It was soggy and overly greasy. There was lots of undercooked batter that was just mushy. The chicken itself had no taste- really tasted like plain chicken with no seasoning. We got mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and biscuits as our sides- that was probably the best part of the meal. We did get butter and honey for the biscuits which made them taste so much better than plain. This meal was not worth $28 + tax. There are better food places in Windward City. read more
