KFC finally made a return to Johnstown after a hiatus from the area. Funny thing is you can still view the old location of KFC up the street that now houses a bank. The building is just about exactly the same, save from a paint job. I was looking for a quick meal that day and decided that I would stop here. It was after the lunch time rush which meant that it wasn't all that busy when I came in. Since this is a brand new building it is an up to date KFC. Nice and bright, with that lounge feel instead of the fast food aesthetic of bygone years. As soon as you walk in the door you are basically at the counter. If you do not know what you want, step to the side so that others may be able to place their order. Once you place your order you can go find a seat. There are booths, tables, high top tables, counter seats, and like this large cushioned area with a table kind of in the center. You can fill up your drink while you wait for your food to be prepared and find a table to settle in at, that is if you are quicker than the workers. By the time I had filled my cup, my order was up. I had ordered one of the five dollar meals and you can add an extra side for a dollar more. Decent deal, and you get more food than other fast food joints. The food was what I expected. I knew it was KFC before walking in here, so I didn't have my expectations too high. It filled me up, so I left pleased. This place had a consistent busy about it. If there wasn't someone ordering inside there was always someone in the drive thru. Parking lot is a bit of a mess as it is just a strip of spots that are right off the street. Maybe should have done some more planning to add an appropriate parking lot and not put so much room for a single lane for the drive thru. read more

The quality of food was terrible. Chicken was all dried out like it was sitting under a hot lamp for hours...tiny pieces and 12/$27.55 was by far the worst value for my money ever at a fast food restaurant. Come on KFC do better! I won't be stopping at this location again. read more

I have to commend the employees who were there during the weather today. I tried the original recipe chicken fingers meal with the comeback sauce. The sauce was tangier and less peppery than I expected. The fries were tasteless and too salty. I ate two. The chicken fingers are very small. Compared to DQ all three matched one in size. They were dry and chewy. I can't recommend them to anyone. read more

I have learned my lesson! I would never buy from KFC on Scalp avenue in Johnstown again! Not only did I not get my order but was told the store could not cancel it. Tried to cancel on air and of course was on hold for 20 minutes and could never cancel the order. When we went to pick up the order was told they could not have the order ready for at least 20 minutes or longer even though we placed the order well ahead of the time. Ripped off and would never deal with this KFC again. Manager could care less. read more

I thought I'd try the new chicken/pizza very disappointed of the way it was prepared. Must be using imitation cheese because it was barely melted. The pepperoni was just layed on top and the chicken was over done. Most of the time your menu items are spot on. Most likely I'll never try again!! read more

Finger lickin good, as always!! There's people who always have something to complain about no matter what! And sadly, it seems that most people don't write reviews to compliment anymore. Well, my review is for that reason! This place gets really busy at times so you have to take in consideration that there's only so many employees trying their best to keep up. I never go to KFC .... i guess I always assume it is a greasy mess where everything tastes the same. But I was so happy to be wrong today. I got the classic chicken sandwich meal and everything was great. I do not care for the drink selections because they lack any decent diet choices. Super excited KFC is back in Johnstown! That being said, I was very disappointed. Visited the drive thru last night around dinner time on a Saturday. Service was fine. Food upon getting home was edible but very disappointing. The Mac n cheese was so dry it should've never been served. The bread of on the chicken was seriously lacking. I can't speak for the inside but it is brand new so I would hope it's nice for a kfc. Maybe it's my fault for having my hopes too high, but that should NOT have been what we received. read more

The old KFC was always my favorite place to eat. The chicken was crispy. The staff was friendly. The place was messy but the food made up for it. Only one word can describe the new KFC .. Gross. Chicken is not supposed to be bloody inside. I'm totally bummed. I'm still on the hunt for great fried chicken. Sad thing is they can have awesome chicken again by just cooking it longer. Shaving those few minutes of cooking time might save corporate money but it's costing a lot of customers. read more

This is, by far, the worst place in the Johnstown area. First visit in and will probably be the last. I ordered online. Made pick for an hour out, did my errands and walked into the restaurant. I was rudely told my food wasn't ready by some type of manager woman. Just a look at her and you knew nothing was going to be right. The drive thru worker was terrible as well. Instead of putting on gloves, she complained about touching customer's hands - she knows there's a pandemic, right? I waited 10 minutes past my scheduled pick up time. The guy who gave me my food was nice - kind of seemed like no one was home. I get home and my order was incorrect. I was only missing gravy, but the mashed potatoes were waiting for it. Oh yea, the manager lady LOVES talking about customer to other staff within an ear shot of other customers. Worst. KFC. Ever. read more

We were so excited when KFC came to town! It has been my experience that the food is good quality with a reasonable price. The flavor is outstanding and we always look to go here if at all possible. We only go through the drive-in but the staff members have been friendly and personable- focusing on the customer without being overly "pleasant". They have always made us feel as though we were the only customers in the drive-thru. The parking lot and surrounding areas are always clean without any dirt or rocks, etc. The only issue I could possibly note is that during times of high sales volume, they seem to be unable to keep up as it gets busier. It may very well be that these are just "growing pains" and the staff are still getting used to the new restaurant. read more

we went to start order after second item the lady (she was an older lady on July 3 around 6:10pm) she gave us our total I explained we had more. we get to window wanted to add another item when I asked. she started getting loud yelling that she can't do that the person before me added on and the people in the back was yelling at her because of people adding on. i work in fast food so I completely understand to a point. but I also know that customer service should main priority. you could have added it on and parked the car but instead I had to listen about other customers and workers in back yelling ( which you could hear how loud they were). we got no receipt no straws and horrible service I will never go back to that store again the customer service was beyond horrible!!!!!!! read more

This is a new location that always has a long line. I avoided eating here but decided to try it today. I ordered a chicken breast. The whole place was full of people waiting and complaining. I saw people asking for their money back. The tables were dirty. I cleaned a table myself because I was determined to try this place out. After half an hour or so (yes, really), they called my name and I got the chicken breast. It was OK. Not very hot. I thought we were all waiting on hot chicken to finish frying. Obviously that wasn't it or my chicken breast would have been piping hot. It looked like they were serving orders about 1 every 10 minutes; so if 6 people were waiting, you'd be waiting an hour to get a meal. That's not at all what people expect from KFC. I predict this place will fail over time. It's new now, but from what I saw, very few people looked like they would come back. read more

Never going back... waited 20min in line at the drive-through chicken was soggy and food was missing.. called up and told. Them about missing food the people who answer the phone had no people skill and I was told that they will mail me something for the missing food Gave my name and address almost 2 weeks later still didn't receive what I was supposed to and I don't understand why I couldn't go get it that night... food was bad and they owe me money for my cookie and my wedges... $14 for a some chicken tenders and fries and that doesn't include a drink, but you do get a nasty attitude free of charge. Ordered a 4 piece chicken strip combo. Was told they don't do 4, they only have 3, 6 and 12. Fine. Ordered the 6 piece (even though the sign shows to the contrary). The lady seemed to have a lot going on because she kept getting confused and kept asking me to hold on. Fine....its a busy place. Completely understand. When I pulled up to the window, I paid and she 'handed' me the order. When I say handed it was more like she shoved it out the window. I asked about the drink, she said that I don't get one for that combo. $14 for 6 strips and fries and no drink. I should have said something then or handed it back, got my money refunded and left but I didn't. I'm usually not one to complain about these things. There's more to life. But this really got to me. I got home, opened it to eat and..honestly...it was kind of gross. The fries were soggy and the chicken was chewy. Reminds me of what fried chicken is like when you microwave it. I've been on the fence about this place from my previous purchases. At this point I can say that I'm done. If I'm ever looking for chicken strips/tenders on the go, I'll just stop by Dairy Queen. Yes an ice-cream place does it better ... oddly enough. From looking over these reviews, I hope the place goes out of business. I don't know why I bother going back to KFC. They used to be good. A 3 Pc. meal. One tiny leg, 2 thighs which were also small. Potato wedges that were dry and mostly inedible. Canned corn. The biscuit was hard and stale. You can get better chicken in any local grocery. read more

Workers nice. Biscuits dry. Chicken was lean on meat. Regular fried skin fell off, extra crispy was soggy. I love KFC but this one needs improvement. Will go to Pittsburgh or Somerset when I can. I was so happy when I knew they were coming back to J-town, no running to Somerset for my chicken anymore. Please fix the problem. read more
