Delicious pineapple friend rice -- better than I was expecting! The spice range was accurate, spicy made my nose a bit runny. The vibes were great and service was quick and efficient.

Back in town visiting family and this is still at the top of the list of places to eat here. I had the pork buns, green thai tea, and rama curry with crispy duck. If you like spicy, order a higher level than usual. Absolutely fantastic thai food!

Decent Thai restaurant. I would say food is a bit on the oily side. Staff is amazing and super pleasant and accommodating. Awesome loyalty rewards program. Overall experience is an 8/10. Quantity could be a smidge bit bigger and food could use less oil. I would recommend it to those visiting the area if you are looking to satisfy your Thai food cravings! Chicken Satay is the best in all of Altoona!!

I've lived out of the area for years, but this place had some good reviews so I sought it out. Very good! I got the drunken noodles with tofu, and it was definitely tastier than I've had other places. The flavor and spice were right on target. The atmosphere was nicer than expected, but it's not a large place so I imagine it gets full quickly. There was only one waitress, which should have been plenty for the five occupied tables, but she struggled a bit and forgot the guy next to me asked for space and he didn't yet have it when I left. My only small complaint is portion sizes. It was about the same cost as other Thai restaurants I've been to, but less food. I can usually get enough for a second meal at home, but in this case I brought home just enough for a snack later.

I was BLOWN away by this thai, it was AWESOME! I got takeout the other day in my way home from State College. The pork buns were amazing, sooo much meat and it was delicious. I got the crispy chicken garlic basil stir fry which was packed with chicken that was so good! Loved this place and will be back!!!

Crispy milk, crab rangoon, and spring rolls

4.5 stars overall. Jaidee Thai Restaurant's menu consists of appetizers such as pork buns, soups, and salads; entrees such as curries, noodles, fried rice, and specials; a few desserts; and several beverages. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. At the front door, an employee immediately greeted us and walked us over to a clean table. I appreciated that every other table was unused in order to socially distance, that the employees wore face masks, and that they had a few bottles of hand sanitizer sitting out. Our waiter, Weston, promptly took our order, brought out our food and drinks, checked in with us periodically, and made friendly talk. The women's bathroom was clean and had a bench and chair. Here are my reviews for our foods: Crispy spring rolls - 4.5 stars - These rolls were made of glass noodles, cabbage, and carrots and were served with a sweet chili sauce. I liked that they were hot and crispy. Crab rangoon - 4.5 stars - These rangoon had a crispy dough, contained tasty imitation crab meat, cream cheese, and green onions, and were served with a sweet sauce. I really enjoyed the taste, but the center filling was cold. Crispy milk - 4 stars - I had never before eaten crispy milk, so I asked the waiter what it was. He explained that it tastes sort of like a funnel cake or pancake mix. He was right! The crispy milk was oval-shaped and consisted of batter with a sweet filling. (See my attached photo.) Green curry with chicken - 5 stars - I had requested a spiciness level of medium, and the cook did exactly that. This entree had a wonderful balance of spiciness and sweetness, and it contained a good amount of chicken and vegetables. Pad see ew - 4 stars - My husband ate this entree. It contained flat rice noodles with egg, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, and a sauce. He does not enjoy discussing his food, but he described it as "good," "fine," and "perfectly tasty but not the greatest ever." The total price for this meal for two people was $37 plus a tip.

Stopped here after talking about bubble tea and seeing everyone who lives in civilization putting up pictures of such as God's new invention for the hip and edgy. Getem out. Place is located near Altoona campus and in a strip mall shopping center. Not very big so my recommendation is to call and see for reservations or be prepared to wait a little while. Seems like they do a good business and the women who work there were very friendly. Since we were doing take out we walked up the counter and ordered, waiting near the restrooms and then paying upon receipt of the bubble teas. Overall it wasn't bad. With a thicccer straw you get the bubble immediately- wonder if it would make more sense to use a regular straw as well and alternate so you don't eat all the bubbles immediately? Don't know. I ordered a green tea which was good - nothing too fancy. And it allows me to knock another odd food off my list. Vog would be proud. Place looked clean and staff attentive. I'll try it for food sometime.

A friend had recommended Jaidee Thai so I stopped by on my recent trip into Altoona. I hadn't ordered ahead so when I got there the hostess opened the door and gave me a menu, then took my order. As I waited you could see a number of people coming by to do curb side pickup. The hostess and people inside were wearing masks. They had to have you sign the credit card receipt, but they had a container of "clean" and "dirty" pens that they would wipe down with sanitizer after they were used. I very much appreciated the restaurant taking the pandemic seriously. I got a green curry with tofu and it was packed with vegetables and had a great taste. When you order a curry they ask you how hot you'd like it. Overall I highly recommend this place!

I love Thai food and am very picky. Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant…read more Food: I was with a group of 7 and we tried different dishes. Chicken Laab/ Larb: Sooooo goood!!!! Got it "spicy, like Thai" and it's the best larb I've had in a long long time. Do yourself a favor and get it. Khao Soy: Very rich, almost massaman-like base. Worth getting again. The orderer got medium spice instead of high spice and regretted it. Pork Pad Thai: wonderful. Make sure to squeeze the lime and spread the crunchy peanuts. some of the best pad Thai I've had in a long time. Not too sweet (though it was a bit sweet- tasted like natural tamarind sweet, not a tablespoon of sugar sweet), and not too peanut buttery. The noodles were just right, not too greasy, not al dente and not gloopy. The orderer got mild and it tasted fine as it was. I added some powdered chilies for my tasting and loved it. Duck plate (forget the actual name): duck had a very crispy, flaky skin and the sauce it was in was good. The orderer wished they had ordered it with a bit more spice (they got medium spice) Fried rice: didn't try it. Looked like a Chinese style fried rice and the orderer seemed to have enjoyed it (but also seemed jealous of the other food on the table). The orderer got medium spice and wished she had gotten more. The dumplings and satay looked good too, but I didn't get to sample them. Service: the waiter warns you about the 10/10 spice level, relatively quick in getting out food, and attentive enough with water and needs (we ended up ordering more food and accidentally dropping silverware, etc). We ended up asking to bring out more spice and the orderer obliged with some dried and pestled chilies for our table to share. Ambiance: The inside of the restaurant is clean despite being in a run down looking strip mall with a dollar general and a takeout Chinese restaurant next door. The inside is sparsely and simply decorated with a picture of the old king, some basic tapestries you might buy at a tourist market in Thailand, some dolls, and some bright, flashy LEDs in one of the windows. Don't let this dissuade you. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! 5/5 means it is worth the hour there and back drive to eat here. I will do it again and actively suggest to my friends to eat here if we are looking for a place to go. Summary: For Thai restaurants, I almost always try a curry/ soup, pad Thai/ pad se eew, and a larb/ Nam tok/ beef waterfall. This one nailed all three.

Still amazing food and excellent service. We got to eat here again while in town, and it was even…read morebetter than before. Got the same as before (panang curry & drunken noodles) plus a crispy tofu app with a delicious dipping sauce. Everything was super flavorful. Can't wait to go again!

I was here for lunch in Nov 2022. The door was either jammed or locked and without the open sign I…read moremight have assumed they were closed. The sign caught my eye driving down the street as amusing. Everyone always claims to be the best but few put it in their restaurant name. It amused me enough to give it a shot. Despite the restaurant sign, I don't see any Japanese food on their menu. The name here (and menu name) do not say Japanese so I assume their they had it and it went away or they are not motivated to change their sign. That's probably a big deal to anyone driving by who sees the sign and stops in but wasn't for me. Their menu is pretty diverse but standard "American" Chinese fare. Ended up getting Sesame Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, Beef Chow Fun, Walnut Shrimp and 2 orders of spring rolls. Without specifying, the Sesame Chicken came as a lunch portion (which makes sense, I went at lunch and didn't say, tho I wanted dinner so it was a surprise). It was (also) a surprise to me that came with fried rice which I generally don't care for but my SO said was good. I actually think they may have done this because I said Hot and Soup Soup which they assumed was a combo. My SO also said this was good. Walnut Shrimp (at home advertised as Honey Walnut Shrimp) is probably my favorite American Chinese food dish but not all places carry it. This place did not disappoint. They only had a few pieces of brocolli but no-one orders Walnut Shrimp for the health value if they know what it is :P The chow fun was good (for those uninformed it's like lo mein but with wider noodles - also not carried everywhere). The sesame chicken was average (but the last sesame chicken I had was terrible so it was a welcome up trending change :P). The spring rolls were not well cooked but on reheat they were perfect. As far as the place itself, it was pretty empty. I'm honestly not sure if they have dine in or not. There was a side room with tables but there was a big curtain which made it look inaccessible. There are 4 wooden padded chairs for waiting. The staff is friendly though I was struggling to understand the person who took my order and I'd say I'm decent with accents. But all ended up well. Ultimately, I would recommend this place if hungry for Chinese and in the area but it definitely was not #1. But perhaps in that area it is ;)

Ordered a Szechuan chicken lunch special to have at my office for a quick lunch. When I went to…read moreeat it there was not a single piece of chicken in it. I ate my rice and couple pieces of broccoli and realized there wasn't ANY chicken in it. I called over and explained what happened and the lady said that it did have chicken in it and she didn't believe me and said I may have eaten it and just said that. I order there often and was surprised at how rude and argumentative she was. She said I had to return the meal in order to replace it but I only have 30 min lunch. I will never order here again or anyone at the office after her accusing me of lying about the chicken
