Authentic Thai restaurant. Want Thai and didn't know where to go. So glad we decided to try Aoy. Tasty food and great service.

A family-run intimate restaurant in a strip mall, this is a gem. It's very friendly, with fantastic food and great service. We were especially charmed by the individual tea pots for our tea order, and the fact that duck is so prevalent on the menu. We both had the Thai Noodle Soup with duck, and it was just the right mixture of hot/sour/salty and rich. You will be asked what level of spiciness you like, 1-5. My husband chose 1, and I picked 2: Mine came with chili flakes and chili oil among the bean sprouts, garlic scapes, bok Choi and noodles. It chased away my winter blahs! We strongly recommend this restaurant, especially if you have not previously had Thai before: There are curries, soups, noodle dishes and stir-fried rice dishes. Daily lunch specials. The restaurant is closed daily 2:30-4:00, and there's a minimum $10 amount to charge.

If you love to discover little local hole in the wall spots and you love Thai food, definitely check this place out. Some of the BEST Tom Kha soup I have ever had! Aromatic and perfectly spiced (aks for mild + a kick) Panama curry was also good, but that soup...next time I will ask for a big bowl! Service was kind and straightforward. Thank you for the great dinner!

This is an absolutely amazing restaurant, with incredible Thai food, some of the best service I have ever received, and the quaint atmosphere. One of the owners, Swee, manages the front of the restaurant. She is very busy managing takeout orders while also being the sole person working all the tables. Prices are very reasonable, and the food quality is superb. I got a khao soi (curry with egg noodles and chicken) and it was so delicious. it was presented beautifully, and the flavors were rich and spicy. I asked it for the hottest they could make, and they did not disappoint. This is one of the best Thai restaurants you can go to, and they definitely deserve all of the business around town!

We found this restaurant during our long drive and it is excellent!! The food is very delicious. The texture of the tofu is extra crispy. The server is so sweet, she provided us some great recommendations. They have plenty of seats inside and it wasn't too busy during lunch time. We really enjoyed the meal and service here. Thank you!

Always a great experience! Amazing food! Attentive wait staff and friendly. Check their hours before you go as they are not always open. It is always busy when we are there.

Best Thai restaurant in town. My favorite is the Pad See Ew. I would skip the Thai Iced Tea for next time, wasn't that amazing! My only con is the amount of flies in the establishment. It was quite annoying to eat and flies constantly swarming us and our food. They should get that under control. Minus the flies the food is a solid 8/10! I prefer getting takeout from here over the other options in town! If you're looking for good Thai food this should be your new go to spot!

I travel for work and seldom have good meals in Altoona. Aoy was recommended by several people and I was completely impressed by the amazing flavors, textures, temperature, and quality of the food I had. This is a tiny restaurant in a small strip mall but the server was friendly, attentive, and frankly worked her butt off waiting on customers, taking phone orders, and handing out takeout orders. I had a simple meal -- the spring rolls which were fabulous; the yum yai salad which had large pieces of white chicken breast and several whole, peeled shrimp; and for an entree, Thai spicy (no 4) red curry. The curry was hot but nowhere near as hot as I was hoping even after adding more heat. But the flavor, texture, and amount of chicken and vegetables was outstanding. I spoke with several of the other customers to get ideas for my next visit. All the other reviews here are correct -- Aoy is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and I'm so glad to have enjoyed a delicious meal served by a friendly and attentive server. I can't wait to come back ... five stars and two thumbs up. Yum !!

Highly recommend! Aoy is a small space with just a few tables and was packed on a Friday night (rightly so). The service was great - it was a one-woman show with one server taking care of both take out and tables, but she did an amazing job! I had the drunken noodles with vegetables and it was great - lots of flavor and the perfect amount of food. Excited to go back!

Excellent Pad Thai with chicken! I would eat here again, but try more menu items. I had take out, but the dining area looked nice too.

We chose to eat outside in their beautiful garden, which made for the perfect setting. I ordered the Hawaiian-style poke bowl, and it was absolutely delicious! We ended up sharing a table and great conversation, which made the experience even more memorable. The service was excellent. We asked our server for a recommendation, and he suggested the poke bowl--and I'm so glad he did! Everyone in our group loved their meal. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely return. But we decided to not spend more time for finding something else and stepped in. It was very charming, surprisingly well kept,of course old,but in a good way. Menu was intriguing, modern and seasonal, which I value the most. Waiter was engaging in our menu exploration and was knowledgeable. Now to the food.. cauliflower appetizer made as General Tso was one other best cauliflower in my entire life. Lightly fried, not mushy, but with exact chicken like texture in divine sauce, kicking spicy with sweet undertones. In the same way not overpowering to forget about cauliflower itself. A+ for that dish!!! Pirogi was a little doughy on my opinion, but taste was good. Asian bowl with salmon had great flavor profile: cabbage salad was beautiful and freshly crisp, carrots were marinated perfectly with slight vinegary flavors, bok choy was unbelievably delicious. I asked for medium salmon, mine was almost well done, but taste was good and rice in the middle wasn't sticky and flavorful, but had watery texture and was bland. Overall, this is an amazing festival of flavors and technically challenging menu. Bravo!!!
