I'm a bit surprised at all the one-star reviews for this KFC location. My recent experience here wasn't that bad. There are two KFC locations in High Point, this one on South Main and another on North Main. My dad prefers this location on South Main over the one on North Main because he thinks the chicken here tastes better. He told me he thinks the chicken at the North Main location is sometimes overcooked and/or has been sitting out for too long. It's been a while since I've had food from the North Main location so I haven't been able to verify for myself. I came to this location recently because the place we originally wanted to pick up lunch from was unexpectedly closed and my dad had received some coupons in the mail from KFC. He used the coupon for "Dinner for Two" for $8.99. We used the drive-thru and had no issues. Service was quick and we got exactly what we came for. This was on a Saturday afternoon. The Dinner for Two came with a box of chicken and biscuits and four sides plus two individually-wrapped sporks and napkins. Inside the box was five pieces of chicken (drumstick, thigh, wing, breast) and two biscuits. The sides were coleslaw and mashed potatoes and gravy (we doubled up on each). The fried chicken was good. It was nice and crispy, and juicy and tender. My wife made the observation that KFC's chicken has broken bones. We noticed the chicken bones at both this location and a location in Atlanta we tried a few months prior were broken. We wonder why that is. I thought the biscuits were a little dry. The staff at this location didn't include any condiments, but we didn't ask for any either. At the aforementioned Atlanta location, they included packets of KFC honey sauce and hot sauce by default. My dad used some butter he had at home to butter his biscuit. The sides were delicious. I'm a fan of both KFC's slaw and mashed potatoes and gravy. They both just really hit the spot. These are classic, yummy, fast food sides. I recommend them. I'd come back to this location. read more

My husband and I have been coming to this location off and on for many years. Between orders for us and buying for other events I can honestly say that this location has really made a complete turnaround. On our most recent visit my husband ordered a 24 piece hot wings along with a family meal. As per usual they had to cook the hot wings. The turn here was that the cashier was extremely pleasant and apologized for our wait and offered us a complimentary beverage which we politely declined but found the offer nice. She made sure that we had fresh chicken for our family meal once the hot wings were done as well. The dining room was clean. The bathroom was clean. I also noticed that the kitchen was clean as well. It was really good to see that the area where my food was prepared was being kept clean. Great experience! read more

Tried again ~ even went in the door knowing I may have to wait 20 minutes for them to make chicken..no, but we waited 10 minutes for old bad chicken.. We ordered extra crispy 8 piece meal ..the cashier was not pleasant at all. she said she didn't have any extra crispy legs, I asked her if she could substitute wings for the legs, she said yes. but she stood in front of the chicken like she was waiting for something, then went around the back, she came back and packed up our order. (no fresh chicken came out, nothing was added to the rack) We got home to find the chicken was not extra crispy, there were legs in there that appeared to have been made yesterday, the chicken was not KFC quality. We went and got the hottest (freshest) chicken tenders we have ever got. The food was delicious and the staff was great. Thanks for making our 35th anniversary great. Worst EVER! Stopped in for a 2 piece dinner to bring home - a 2 piece dark meal was $ 6.39 which I thought was expensive. Once I got home it went from bad to worse. The service was pretty slow when my friend and I walked up to the counter. Once my friend paid for the food, the card didn't go through so we had to wait maybe two more minutes for the same cashier to come back and "correct" the payment. The food is fine; it's fast food fried chicken, cheap, but for the third or fourth time, I've gone there for lunch and been told that the chicken tenders are frozen and won't be ready for ....whenever. 1) It's lunchtime. By now, you should know that you'll need more chicken tenders/fingers and all the other things I hear you tell people are not ready! 2) I shouldn't go through the drive through and have to remember to ask for ketchup AND NAPKINS! Ever...came through the drive thru to order a 16 piece meal with 4 sides and 8 biscuits..paid $39 for this meal and got home and it was wrong only had 10 pieces of chicken and 4 biscuits and I was missing 1 side and another side was wrong...so I tried to call for an hour and the phone line was busy nonstop for an hour...so I drive back up there and explain to them about my meal being wrong and the manager was extremely rude and proceeded to say she made my meal and she's a "manager" and wouldn't make that many errors but she will replace it for me this ONE time...like I was lying or something..and on top of that she said I had to pull up and wait on chicken and it would take 22 minutes she said. Service is very rude and the little bit of chicken they give you in a potato bowl (when your ordering 5 and your white) 1/3 of a bowl that's Including potatoes, corn, and burnt old ass chicken, and a little gravy. I always enjoyed going here until recently, about a month ago, that the manager slid out through the drive=thru window to attack me, cussing and very abusive. We were eyeball to eyeball. I went through the drive-thru last night in the hopes of getting some chicken. After all, this is a chicken place. I asked if they still had their $10 six-piece chicken deal. You could literally hear the girl working the window heavy sigh at my question. She mumbled something back that I could not even make out so I asked her to repeat it. She spoke to me in the nastiest tone. I just told her to never mind I would go somewhere else where they're not so rude. I have a real pet peeve about doing business somewhere where they act like they're doing you a favor waiting on you. There are so many people today working jobs who have no concept of how to be friendly and polite. If I were this girl's manager, I would fire her in a skinny minute. Not everybody needs to be working with the public. If you can't do your job without grunting and groaning and using a rude tone, you don't need to be working a drive-thru. We entered this kfc around 8:50 p.m. this evening to order a 12 piece dinner. The lady waiting on us checked to make sure there was enough chicken to fill the order. She rang me up and started pulling everything together. However, she realizes there are no breast. I said oh, you guys are getting ready to close aren't you? She said no, we close at 10 p.m. I told her I would wait for chicken. Someone, the manager I think, told me it would be 16 minutes for fresh chicken and offered to complete the order with dark meat. Or he could speed cook it for 11 minutes. I wasn't interested in the extra dark meat option or the extended wait time, so I requested a refund. To which, he replies he can't give me a refund on a 12 piece this late at night. I said let me get this straight, you don't have what ordered, what I paid for and now you're telling me I can't get a refund? I told him he better get me my refund. He then proceeds to tell me there's no need for that tone. Here's a tone he can appreciate, I will never eat at this restaurant again, which doesn't mean much. Went to this S. Main location on Friday and got the 12 piece family dinner. Everything was great. Went back again today (Sunday) and ordered the same thing. I was told there was a five minute wait on potato wedges so Tori told me to pull up and she would bring it out. I waited a long time and someone drove up and gave them a box through the drive through window. Someone finally came to the door and said what was your order? I said I've been sitting here for 19 minutes. I said I had the 12 piece dinner.....she said she was one of the managers and I could come in and get a refund or wait 5 minutes on potato wedges because the box that came through the window was wedges. Well the wedges came through 10 minutes earlier but no one told me that they were waiting on any or that I would have to wait more than 5 minutes. In fact people who walked in 15 minutes after I pulled up sat down with potato wedges on their plates while I watched from my car. Also, my nursing scrubs were not clean and I didn't want to go in. Just wanted to take supper home to my family after a hard days work. The manager said there must have been a mistake. She ended up bringing my food out to me 30 minutes after I placed the order. She did apologize but she didn't he the order right. Between her and Tori they should have gotten the two slaws and one order of potato wedges I repeated my order more than once to both of them. Instead i received two wedges and one slaw. I feel like Tori dropped the ball because she never came and said something. She could have said it will be linger than 5 minutes because we are waiting for someone to bring us wedges. You don't ask people to pull up then send the manager out there 19 minutes later to say what was your order? And you would think someone would throw an extra biscuit or something in there after all that. I am amazed that people aren't required to be trained in good manners at restaurants.
