Did you know you can buy pillow ice at Sonic? I didn't until my wife and I were looking for some because crushed/pellet/pillow ice was a specific ingredient my mom needed for a dessert she was preparing to serve to many people. My wife and I went to the Food Lion and Family Fare on Westchester before my wife suggested Sonic. Growing up in Statesboro, Georgia, she used to go to Sonic just to buy their ice to chew and eat. We rolled up to the single drive-thru lane of this Sonic on South Main in High Point on a quiet Sunday around 11:40am. There was only one car ahead of us. I asked the carhop if they sold crushed ice and she said they sold "pillow ice." It wasn't the first time I heard this kind of ice described as pillow ice. It's desired for its soft and chewable texture. It's not as hard and bad for your teeth as regular ice cubes or cubes that have been crushed. If I recall correctly, the carhop said we could buy a 10-pound bag of pillow ice or buy ice by the cup. We ended up purchasing three large cups for $1.60 after tax ($0.50 per cup before tax). The name that printed on our receipt for the carhop/cashier was Kristian. She was very polite and well-spoken, definitely one of the most eloquent drive-thru employees I've ever interacted with. Thank you, Kristian. I noticed this Sonic has a dining room, so dine-in is available (and was open) at this location. A five-digit restroom code was printed at the bottom of the receipt. The receipt also said this Sonic is "now open until 4am Mon-Sat." The sign outside said 3am instead of 4am. This is the only Sonic in High Point. The next-closest one is in Thomasville. read more

Used to be a family favorite, I should have left it in the past. Placed my order in the app, waited 25 minutes before I went inside. Got my order, was given a plain hotdog with ketchup, but I ordered a chilli cheese dog, didn't even realize until after i left I was missing two orders of tots and was given one order of fries. As a teen, I also worked fast food, so I can kind of understand when places are busy but, it wasn't busy as all.. no other cars where even in any other stalls and one car in drive thru. I can't believe the service at my local sonic tonight! First of all, when I pulled up to the stall one of the TVs was broken, and I had to move. I was so excited for my Large Ocean water, but little did I know I was going to be waiting a lot longer. I watched two drug deals happen before I could even get to a working TV! My order said it was ready at 8:27 pm and I am still here waiting for my food at 9:08 pm. I have gone in for service, and was ignored after waiting for 10 minutes and I also went through the drive through. My friend just got her order and it's pretty fire but her onion rings are cold! When the carhop brought me my food they brought me a Dr Pepper instead of two cherry limeades, upon looking through my food to make sure it was right I realized one of my chili tots had no chili, only onions and cheese. Good luck getting any food at this location. it's consistently slow even when you order ahead. Came tonight and sat there for 10 minutes while the workers were all outside hanging around doing nothings and on their phones. I rang the bell twice but no one ever took our order. when we decided to just go ahead and leave one of the workers yelled at us to go thru the drive thru bc their speakers weren't working, even though they had been standing there watching us try and order. seriously don't bother. visiting this location is a waste of time. read more

The service is the worst anywhere. The staff are unclean, self obsessed and disinterested in serving. The manager is the only employee actually pretending to work and doesn't have a clue how to speak to guests. She is curt and impolite. After waiting 10 minutes to be spoken to, I witnessed someone waiting 15 minutes for service while the other employees chatted amongst themselves. The young lady in the drive thru wouldn't even let us get our order out before saying "will that complete your order?" After every single thing we ordered. Then she acted as if she was bothered by the fact that we got to the window and needed her to repeat the order. Not sure why it takes so long to make some food at lunchtime. I was told to pull to the side and had to wait for almost ten minutes for two breakfast burritos and an order of tater tots. Also, every car that came up behind me also was to pull to the side and wait. This made things super unorganized, seeing as a guy came out with food and basically had to go from car to car asking if the food he had was theirs. When I finally got my food, the burritos were supposed to be bacon, egg, and cheese, but they were basically bacon and tortilla. It was almost like they only made enough egg for one and just decided to stretch it between two. This is the WORST Sonic that I have ever been to. Decided to try it again after quite some time, and the experience was the same, TERRIBLE!! The fries and tots were cold, they said they were out of onion rings. They put the jalapeños on the wrong burger. I told them a Supersonic Cheeseburger "with only meat and cheese" they put mustard and jalapeños on it. Also ordered a Number one cheeseburger "mayonnaise style" and when I got home it was only meat and mayonnaise! I have learned my lesson and will NEVER be back to this location! if you're looking for the slowest service, horns honking in a drive thru, frowning faces AND horrible food this is the place to go! With terrible service and no focus on what you as the customer have ordered, they really have it all! Don't forget to bring your own ketchup or condiments because this sonic surely doesn't supply that! Please also make note that these workers will give you the death stares of a life time! For fast food...I think this is one of the better sonics in the country. Employees are super friendly. Food is absolutely delicious and total junk food. If you get the craving for this sort of thing, this is the place to go. I wouldn't recommend making a habit of it, but they do have tasty treats! Along with the normal Sonic drive in stations, this locale has a drive thru which is also convenient. My fav menu item is their chili cheese footlong. Can't go wrong there... Great place to eat there chicken was not that great but I also tried the sonic burger with everything and it was a great burger. the service was a little slow but it all turns out to be a great lunch...for my sweet side I had gotten a strawberry cheesecake milk shake and that was great,and the fountain beverages were fine and they offer u to make ur beverage cherry or vanilla and I'm sure there are many other flavores but over all it was a great place to sit and have lunch . read more

Today I went to this Sonic with a couple of friends. The speaker was apparently bad and the employee on the other end said that he couldn't hear me. I had to speak loud so he could understand what he was saying. Apparently he was frustrated, because after taking my order I over heard him refer to me as "this bitch.." to another employee over the speaker. I don't think he knew that I could hear him. I received what I ordered, but this is not an acceptable way to treat customers. I won't be visiting this Sonic again. read more

The food isn't very good and they are over priced for this area. The slushies are usually not frozen, just colored, flavored water. The milk shakes have to be eaten like ice cream, they're to thick. The wait staff brings the food to your car. I recommend counting your change as I have yet to meet a wait staff there who can count. They either give back to much change :) or not enough, be sure though, they won't get it right! read more
