Back…read morein August, September, October, and beginning of November 2024 this was one of my Dads favorite places to eat. He absolutely loved the fish, and especially the coleslaw. The reason being? The staff, the manager and most importantly the cooks. My dad had brain cancer and had it set in his mind that he wanted "ice cold coleslaw". Every time we came in or submitted an order for my dad they always knew and remembered what he would order. The cooks would go out of their way to put ice cubes under the coleslaw in the Togo dish for my dad. It is because of this exceptional location and the caring people that work in it, that helped my dad feel some type of normalcy before him passing away. Our family is forever grateful for the love and patience you all individually poured into preparing his food. I'm sure he's eating a ton of coleslaw up in heaven. Thank you all, The Gleason's

When you walk in, it feels like you just stepped into a time capsule where calories do not count and everybody knows how to properly pronounce "slaw." The ambience absolutely screams old school BBQ joint. Wood paneling. No nonsense tables. The kind of place where you half expect your uncle to be in the corner arguing about college football. Now let's talk food, because that is why we're here. The pulled chicken? Outstanding. Tender, juicy, packed with flavor. It showed up ready to win. If it ran for office, I would vote for it. That chicken understood the assignment. The BBQ chicken had that beautiful crisped skin that makes you lean in like, "Oh yeah, this is about to be serious." But then it hit the plate a little under seasoned. The sauce was on the thinner side too. Not bad, just more "light drizzle at a picnic" than "bold backyard pitmaster energy." And let me take a moment to publicly thank the potato salad. Special shout out. Creamy, balanced, and clearly made by somebody's grandmother who does not measure anything and does not need to. All in all, Johnny's is a solid four stars. Historic, nostalgic, and when they hit, they really hit. I'll be back, mostly for that pulled chicken and potato salad combo that had me considering a second plate and a nap.

Jim 'N Nick's provides complimentary, wonderful cheddar biscuits with sweet butter to start and they are delicious! I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with white sauce and it was excellent. I added a loaded baked potato (sans bacon) and it was loaded nicely with cheddar, green onions and sour cream, but the potato itself was cold. If delivered hot I'd likely recommend it. I decided to make the best of it despite the lack of heating. The service was friendly and excellent, and because of that I didn't stress about the cold potato. And I was plenty full anyway.
