Myself , my wife, and kids came here for an Easter dinner after spending the day with extended family. The restaurant was not busy as we arrived around 7:15pm on a holiday and we were seated immediately. Our waitress came and got our drink order and got those back to us quickly. She proceeded to take our order while answering any questions my children had about substituting menu items or adding additional items. She was courteous and friendly during the whole exchange. Two of my kids got chicken fingers and fries, adding cheese and bacon, while the other got fries and hash brown casserole. My wife and niece got the Grandma's sampler platters. I got the chicken fried chicken with three sides. Mashed potatoes, hash brown casserole, and fried okra! Everyone loved their food and left stuffed with some leftovers. The store was clean and decked out with old fashioned items throughout. The country store was also a hit! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious as always! read more

I had the campfire chicken, actually I tried to have the campfire but when it finally came to the table a half hour later it was actually pink on the inside and cold. I generally don't eat raw chicken. My wife had the shrimp skillet. It was pretty good. When we go out to eat we like to eat together but my meal took another 20 minutes to complete. Waited 30 minutes to be seated to find out half tables were empty. Upon arrival to table we got comfy and when Trey came to take our order he told us we need to move to his section? Gave him our drink order and came back with no straws. Waited 15 minutes at least for each time after he came to our table. Gave our food order, got food, never got any silverware. Came back 15 minutes later with silverware - no napkins.... At this point I'm waiting for John Quinones to come out and give an interview.... Trey was also training a new hire - horrible idea. I always love coming to Cracker Barrel! Even though we had a wait last weekend when we came, we were able to shop around the store and sit on the rocking chairs to pass the time. If only every restaurant did this! It was a fun wait. We got in and ordered at 11:30 a.m. I ordered a salad, which was good. My meal was a hamburger steak and steak fries. The fries, few and hard like they were warmed up! The hamburger steak was maybe a quarter of an inch thick, dry as could be and I had to use a knife to cut it. I asked for worcestershire sauce to help. I was told they did not have that. They use to serve good food like thick burgers on sour dough bread and the marinated tenderloin steaks in biscuits. Now it is not a country restaurant but an expensive retail store. She demanded he get in line behind us and we told him to go ahead. She was very mad at us for letting him go ahead and at first refused to let him. He was nice and we didn't want his food to get cold. There is no sign or anything saying that they changed their policy on call in orders. Just all around rude! read more

This is the worst Cracker Barrel experience I've had at this location not once but twice I'm thinking bout not going back the first time it took over an hour and a half to get our food with my wife and her 7 year old sister it's sad that a kid gets soo hungry she starts to cry and on top of that 3 employees were arguing and crying right in front of everyone and tonight was no different got in there pretty quick for a table but as soon as we sit down no one acknowledges us that we were there and waited 35 minutes for someone and no one came!!! Only bad experience I have ever had at a Cracker Barrel. Hostess said it would be 20 mins before we had a table. It was 50 mins. Ordered food and it took over 1 hour to get our food and the quality was missing as the pancakes were hard and multiple orders were messed up. Hopefully they just had a bad day - but I would stay away on a Sunday afternoon for a while until they get their staff trained better and hire more people. read more

This is by far the best Cracker Barrel I have ever eaten at and I have tried them all over the Southeast. The food is always delicious and the biscuits and cornbread are always fresh. I'm 42 years old and I have been eating here since I was a child. The service is phenomenal and you simply can't beat the atmosphere. Weekends tend to be crowded. I personally enjoy having the place almost to my self so I either go for breakfast right as they open at 7:00AM or opt for a 5:30-6:00 weekday dinner. read more

The experience was overall awful, There was probably an average number of people there for a Sunday afternoon, and the service was nothing short of terrible. Firstly, they were out of coke, so we had to order other sodas. After we ordered them, it took them forever to come out. We were long out of water, and waiting for soda at the same time. We ordered appetizers, and it took them forever to come out. They barely came out before our food. While we waited for all of these things, our waitress disappeared for 20 minutes or so. Even if things had been ready, there was no one to bring it to us. She was nowhere to be found. When she finally came back to our table, she didn't apologize for being gone for so long, and had no sense of urgency to go grab things we had been missing. If they had been short on help that's understandable, but to be short and just not care about the customers is an entirely different issue. When our food finally came out, multiple pieces of it were missing. The waitress made multiple slow trips to go grab what was missing, and every time she came back, she would forget what we had asked her for. It was like our food came out in stages over the course of 10 minutes. It was absolutely ridiculous. Worst service I've had in a while!. read more

We have eaten in Cracker Barrel all over the Eastern half of the country. This one was probably the dirtiest one we have been in. There was food, napkins and butter containers all over the floor. The men's bathroom was also very dirty. It looked like it had not been cleaned in hours. The cashier, Linda, was all alone and extremely slow. I remarked to the couple behind me that I would be 75 yrs old before I got through this line. And there was only 3 of us in line. Our server, Cearra, was very good and very attentive. The food also very good and was up to the usual Cracker Barrel standards. I think we will avoid this Cracker Barrel in the future. read more

Service is completely lackluster. Sat down to grab a bite with my Grandparents tonight, 11/6/22, and went completely unacknowledged for over 20 minutes. Needless to say we up and left at that point. It's really not hard for the server to stop by the table and say, "I'll be with you in just a moment." I should know I've worked in food service for years. Another visit to this Cracker Barrel and another good experience. While most Cracker Barrels are very consistent, which is a good thing, this Cullman Cracker Barrel is notch above the rest. The service was excellent the food tasted better than usual. I had the Country Fried Steak dinner and the meat was properly cooked, the gravy was good and sides complimented the meat. I know Cracker Barrel is a chain, And the thing about chain's is it's lack of consistency; in quality of food and customer service. Unfortunately, Cracker Barrel has fallen into these inconsistencies, EXCEPT THIS ONE! This, by far has got to be my favorite location. We had a 25 minute wait on a Sunday afternoon. An employee by the name of Delores was outside saying high to guests who were waiting and she was very friendly with all the children and had a slinky to entertain them. There was also complimentary water and sweet tea which was very appropriate for the Alabama humidity. Once we were seated, our waitress was very energetic and friendly. Cracker Barrel is one of those cookie cutter places that is only sold on their name. Their store front far out weighs the food. Great place to shop but not for breakfast. Driving through Cullman on I-65, the Cracker Barrel is a great place to get your fill of country cooking. Be careful not to order too much fried food - Grandpa's Breakfast with chicken fried chicken, gravy, hash browns and eggs will definitely satisfy. For something a little lighter, try the grilled chicken tenderloins or grilled chicken sandwich. The fried catfish is always reliable too. Was disappointed today with the new Prime Rib Sandwich...first it was light in the meat, but what was worse, the meat that was in the sandwich was nothing but gristle...I had pulled it all out and showed the waitress. My wife and I eat at Cracker Barrel restaurants at least 5 times a month and sometimes as many as 10 times a month. Today has to be our worst experience for eating at a Cracker Barrel. First of all, the environment was terrible, with paper and food in the chairs and on the floor around us. This was not only at our table but also at the tables surrounding us. Secondly, when our food arrived, my wife's salad had bugs (gnats) on the lettuce. That's right, plural gnats stuck to the lettuce. When the floor manager was notified, she simply said, "sorry about that, the lettuce is fresh and was only delivered yesterday." Some comment was made about "protein with the salad...". When we asked for the general manager's information, we were given the local store's phone number and when that was called, we were told that they could not give us information on how to contact the general manager, but if we would come back tomorrow.....blah, blah, blah. You get the picture. Our server (Sally) was very apologetic and we do not hold her responsible, but if you are in the area and want to eat at a good Cracker Barrel, drive north about twenty minutes to the store in Hartselle. It is well run, clean and the food is always good. P.S. We noted that during the approximately twenty minutes we were seated in the Cullman Cracker Barrel, there were three servers standing in front of the fireplace chatting, making no attempt to clean the floors and seats of the food and trash nor to assist the other servers in bussing the tables. This is a first for us. We eat at restaurants all the time. Sure, we'll grouse among ourselves about the occasional slow server or wrong order, but most of our experiences are just fine and some have been quite good. And then there's the Cracker Barrel in Cullman, Alabama, which heaped a manager's shocking arrogance and intransigence onto several glaring staff errors to create a perfect storm of awful. Those of us who were there that night (Saturday, Oct. 15) still can't quite believe it actually happened. Eating with my wife's elderly folks in the midst of a long road trip, our first clue that something was wrong was the fact that we still hadn't been served 50 minutes after ordering. We watched as a couple a few feet away arrived later than we did and got served well before we did. We joked that they might finish their food before we got ours -- never thinking that it would actually happen. We finally spotted our server and asked about our order. There was a "computer problem," she said, and they didn't have the chicken pot pie I had ordered. I ordered something else, and we asked her to go ahead and send out the vegetable plates my in-laws had requested. Another several minutes passed, and my wife -- a former Cracker Barrel server herself -- approached the manager. Could we please have some of our food, she asked? Some biscuits at least? You're wondering: Why didn't we just leave? Well, the in-laws were tired, we were all hungry, and nobody was up for seeking a new place. We were all Cracker Barrel fans, and we had actually been talking over the previous hour about how much we were looking forward to eating there! Another 10 minutes or so passed, and our food did come -- well, not mine. The hamburger and baked potato I'd requested came 20 minutes later, in the form of a cheeseburger and fully loaded potato. At no time did the manager or the server circle back to check on us -- basic training 101 when you're dealing with customers you know are unhappy. When it was time to leave, we had to find our server and ask her for the check. If this misadventure had been limited to slow and indifferent service, we might have chalked it all up to bad training or someone's bad night, and I might never have written this. But the worst was yet to come. Yeah -- the worst was yet to come. We'd been upcharged for the unwanted items, and by this time all four of us were angry -- so I wasn't about to pay for a fully loaded potato I hadn't eaten. We actually showed the untouched spud to the checkout clerk. But she said my wife and I needed to pay our full $17 bill (I offered $16) or the difference would come out of her pocket. Don't leave yet, she said. She put in a call to the server, and the manager drifted up to the front desk. This bearded gentleman, white and perhaps 30-35 years old, proceeded to throw buckets of gasoline onto the fire. Where other unit managers might have responded with apologies and soothing words, this guy was argumentative and condescending. He seemed convinced that our party was trying to pull some kind of free meal scam. (Our total bill between the four of us? About 40 bucks. We were willing to pay even with everything that had happened, that wasn't the issue -- but I drew a line over the potato.) "I'm sorry you got too much food," the manager told one of us, pointing out that a loaded baked potato and a cheeseburger is more food than a burger and plain potato. ("Too much food" was a priceless gem, by the way. We've been making "too much food" jokes ever since.) At another point he said, "Well, most of our customers have had a happy experience." Cracker Barrel's Cullman, Alabama manager on the night of Oct. 15 was not giving an inch. There would be no attempt whatsoever to mollify unhappy customers. Question: Doesn't Cracker Barrel instruct its managers in the proper way to respond to customer complaints? A little humility could have gone a long way. It was all too much for my 79-year-old father-in-law -- a man kind and generous to a fault, a man I've never seen utter an unkind word to anyone. His face reddened. "This is the worst Cracker Barrel in the United States, I want to tell you," he said, the words tumbling out in an angry rush. "It's the worst in the United States." "We're one of the best in the United States," the manager shot back. In the end -- nearly two hours after we set foot in this place -- we dropped the in-laws off at the hotel and my wife drove me to Arby's to get some food. We all wish none of it had happened, and none of us will ever forget it. Do better, Cracker Barrel. read more
