The Reality of KFC's Chocolate Chip Cookies
    Kayce M.

KFC was once a good place to go for fried chicken. It was always crispy, tender, tasty, and they had great sides. Sadly, this is no longer true. We rarely eat fried foods, but sometimes, fried chicken sounds really good. We decided to get some Kentucky Fried Chicken. What a huge mistake that turned out to be. The chicken was horrible - overcooked, incredibly greasy, and tasted like it had been refried. All we could taste was the grease. The cole slaw was really dry, so I ended up having to put some dressing on it to make it edible. The bottom of the container was dry, so that told me someone did not follow instructions at KFC. There should have been a little excess dressing at the bottom - even if only a drop or two. I ordered the 'famous' bowl - this needs to be renamed, really, it does. If it looked like the picture, it would have been good. I know, food never looks like the picture - so sad. The bowl I received did have cheese, potatoes, corn, and chicken, just like the picture. That is where any resemblance ends. The chicken was so dry, it was almost inedible. The corn seemed like it had been cooking for a solid twenty-four hours. Okay, the potatoes were decent and the cheese was good. Cheese makes everything better, right? Nope, not in this case. I bought a dozen of the chocolate chip cookies - they looked good in the picture and my husband loves cookies. I know, pictures of food ... Reality was so sad. They were these little cookies that obviously came off of an assembly line, lovingly wrapped in individual plastic wrappers, and dumped in a box with a thousand other little clones. At least some other fast-food places bake them on the premises (okay, from pre-made dough, but at least they look like real cookies). We have now removed KFC from our list of places to eat. Not sure if it is just this local one, but do not want to spend a bunch of money to get the same miserable food at another location. Sigh ...

This is apparently a fresh Nashville hot chicken tender meal

Terrible service. No one at the counter. No employee acknowledged people at the counter.

Wings were meaty, both flats and drums. Love the flats!!!! Had onion rings as my side, Very crispy and good flavor. Washed it done with a tall Cider on tap. Wife had the taco salad and she liked the seasoning on the beef and the lettuce was very crisp and none wilty. So many thing to choose from, we will be back. I want to try the baked oysters. And quite a few of their other appetizers. This will become a go to place for my family!!!

When I arrived, the hostess was polite and helpful. I grabbed a menu and was directed to the bar to place my takeout order. I was the only person at the bar at the time. The bartender came over and asked what I was drinking. I don't drink alcohol, so I mentioned I was just there to place a to-go order. Without a word, she walked away. After I had decided what I wanted, I placed the menu down -- a pretty clear sign I was ready to order. Another customer walked in, sat at the bar, and was immediately helped by the bartender, who took his order and served his drink. Then she left the bar entirely, walking past two servers who were just standing at the end of it. What surprised me most was that the hostess noticed I was still sitting there. She kindly asked if I had been helped. I told her no. She approached the two servers and asked if one of them could take my order, and instead of helping, they actually argued with her about who should do it. She eventually walked away, and I was left sitting there -- completely ignored. This level of service is unacceptable. It's frustrating to see restaurants hike up their prices in the name of "paying staff a living wage" when the staff can't even be bothered to do the bare minimum -- like take an order from a waiting customer. Needless to say, I won't be back. And as for DoorDash -- while our first order was edible, it arrived cold, which has been a rare issue in my experience with the platform.

If you're looking for a great place to get away from the city and enjoy some amazing live music,…read morethis spot in Liepers Fork is absolutely worth the trip! We've been here several times, and the one thing that never changes is how incredible the music is. Every visit has had a great lineup and a fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it easy to forget you're just a short drive from Franklin. Make sure you get a reservation! This place sells out almost every night, and for good reason. If you don't plan ahead, you might miss out. Once we were seated, I started with a Margarita, not bad at all, but honestly, this place is really about the music, not the drinks or food. For an appetizer, I went with a couple orders of Pork Rinds. If you know me, you know I always look for hidden menu gems, so I asked for some pimento cheese on the side, and trust me, this is a must! I've been asking them to officially put it on the menu for years. Maybe one day! The pork rinds come out sizzling hot, and with that pimento cheese, they're absolutely next level. For my entrée, I had the Saturday Special: Beef Brisket, Baked Beans, and Mashed Potatoes. It was solid comfort food and hit the spot. Others at the table went with the Famous Big Bologna Sandwich, which is honestly a memory in itself, definitely one of those signature items you have to try at least once. But let me be clear: you are here for the music, not the food! And the music alone makes the whole experience worth it every time. Tip: Get there well before the show starts so you have time to eat and settle in before the music begins. Once the band starts, you won't want to miss a second of it. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better music, this place is a true hidden gem just outside the city.

(3.5/5 stars) I've…read morebeen to Fox & Lock many times over the years, enough to try nearly everything on the menu. It's a solid, casual meat-and-three that's become a gathering place for both locals and visitors. The friendly staff and frequent live music create a lively atmosphere, and if you're already coming to Leipers Fork for a show, it's a great place to grab a meal beforehand. The menu offers classic Southern comfort food with rotating daily specials. The pulled pork is one of the more consistent meats, although I've had it arrive perfectly tender on some visits and a bit dry on others. The second meat changes throughout the week, which keeps things interesting for repeat customers. I've worked my way through all of the sides, and the fried okra is easily my favorite. It's consistently served hot and crispy, though I think a signature seasoning blend would make it even better. The macaroni and cheese is another standout, although I've occasionally received it lukewarm. The sweet potato fries are also enjoyable but could use a little more crispness, and I think they'd really shine with a house-made dipping sauce like a hot honey mustard. The green beans appear to be canned, which doesn't personally bother me, but they leave an unusual aftertaste that keeps me from ordering them often. The collard greens have good flavor but tend to include more stems than I'd prefer. The baked beans lean savory rather than sweet, which may appeal to some diners, though I usually prefer sweeter baked beans with barbecue. The mashed potatoes are simple and would benefit from the option of either cream gravy or brown gravy. One item that always kept me coming back was the chicken fingers. For a long time, they were some of my favorites in the area--crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I've driven out from Nashville just to order them. Recently, however, the breading seems to have changed, and they haven't quite been the same. The onion rings are another reliable choice, arriving consistently crispy, though I think they'd be even better paired with a signature dipping sauce or seasoning. Overall, I think the atmosphere is what makes Fox & Lock special. The staff is consistently welcoming, the live music is excellent, and it's an important part of the Leipers Fork community. If you're visiting the area for the music or exploring the town, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a meal. While I don't think the food alone is worth making a special trip from Nashville, it's enjoyable comfort food in a fun setting and a place I'm sure I'll continue to visit.
