This place is freaking amazing. My brother and his friends took me here with my buddy (we were visiting from San Francisco area) and didn't expect much since it was kind of empty for a Thursday night. Regardless, the pianists/singers/comedians/geniuses absolutely killed it. It was like a Paseo sandwich for my ears; amazing and dirthy..just filthy. My only regret was not bringing more cash to throw at these guys to play re-worked Disney songs and AC/DC. I visit Seattle about twice a year and will be coming back each time. Made a reservation on-line and got confirmation! GREAT!!! Was the first stop in a string of places for a friend's bachelorette party. Tuesday night comes around and we show up at 7:30 our reservation time to find the place CLOSED! No sign except for the times which said they were suppose to be open. I LOVE THIS PLACE. YOU MUST GO. The talent is crazy amazing. They could make that Rebecca Black song look good without even batting an eyelash. I've only seen Jordan and Aaron play, but I was completely blown away. Their range of music is huge! They played songs ranging from Sisqo's Thong song, to Nirvana's Teen Spirit to Aretha Franklin's R.E.S.P.E.C.T. The entertainment is top notch. The service is moderate, but good considering how busy the place gets. It's kind of a dive, but the pianists make up for it and I have always had a good time. I recommend making a reservation if you have a party of 5 or more as it's not easy to walk in and be able to be seated. Holy crap, the caliber of talent on display here blew my mind. We planned to stay till 11:30 and stayed till the pianos stopped at 1:30. There was a man and a woman playing and I found their dynamic together extremely charming with a feel of genuine spontaneity. The woman had an absolutely gorgeous voice I thought, which isn't exactly typical for a piano bar. I don't think it does these performers justice to call this a piano bar, it felt like I had a front row seat at a traveling comedy/music show that I'd have felt good paying $100 a ticket for. It was like broadway quality performance, or the time you thought you overpaid for some big comedy act and then had the time of your life and understood better what world class performance feels like. Hard to believe they really do this multiple times a week with that kind of energy, wit, and skill right there on Roy. The establishment itself felt like it was aggressively managed with total focus on the performance. No food (because it would take too long and too much space on tables), no cover (because they believe enough in the performers and their ability to keep you there, drinking, and tipping for songs). Got there at 10:00 Saturday and it was slammed. Drinks in our hands in 8 minutes and with some aggressive hovering we got a table in 20 minutes. I appreciated that when my wife ordered a drink and the server didn't understand what she was asking for, the server knelt down and very carefully asked for clarification and wrote it down and had my wife check it. How many times have I had a server just bring the wrong thing when a place is as slammed and as loud as this was? Anyway, it strikes me that this place will always net the occasional pissed off review, partly because it is edgy, and the performers take some serious risks in pretty aggressively cajoling the crowd, but more so because everything happens at a million miles an hour, and the whole establishment kind of rings of performance, not restaurant-style hospitality. Not like, "we run this show, so screw you" at all--you feel very welcome--rather, all of the energy is on pulling off an insane show, first and foremost. So there isn't the sort of "customer is always right" attitude that I notice a couple negative reviews demanding. And i can imagine when the occasional Bar-type error arrises, the manager isn't going to be there in a jiffy to comp your tab or whatever. Why the heck haven't i noticed this place before?! Such a hidden find (somewhat). No cover, great drinks, and 100% awesome music! Pretty easy to park around the area. I am not sure if they have food, but they defo have allllcccooohhhooolll! This place can get rowdy and pretty loud, so this isn't your romantic date kind of place. I love Keys on Main. Having used to live three blocks away, my friend and I were fairly often and always had a great drinking drinking Touchdowns and singing along to people's requests. Last night however I had my bachelorette party there and Ben, Aaron and David the Bartender took such good care of us. They went along with our absurd requests and had fun with us and made it such a great night for me and my bridesmaids. I was my friend's birthday, so a friend and I wanted to surprise her with a bday party here. The experience working with the employees here was awesome and the piano players were awesome. We all had a blast. SERVICE // THUMBS WAY UP I called and made a reservation about a week in advance and it was so easy AND I originally had 20 people. This got shaved down to about 12, I called the day before to update them and the entire experience was seamless. MUSIC & FUN // THUMBS WAY UP The two gentlemen who were performing were fantastic! They were so charming, exuberant, and incredibly talented. It was such a blast. I've been to 88 Keys in Pioneer Square and yes, it is Pioneer Square, so it's a different feel, but it was waaaaay more crude there. The guys here at Keys on Main were hilarious but didn't have to degenerate themselves to super dirty jokes. There's a fine line. DRINKS // SO-SO The prices were great for the wine, beer, and cocktails, but the cocktails were on the sweet side. No biggy though, they got the job done ;) TIP: come with dollar bills - you get to hear your song requests sooner the more moolah you have. I will definitely be coming back here. read more

Meh. Major snoozefest for me. The pianists are extremely talented, so I must give credit where it's due....but I don't know, something about the place just was very plain and boring to me. I went for a friend's birthday celebration, and originally went to the wrong venue - 88 Keys. By the time I made it into Keys on Main, I was surprised how different the vibe felt. 88 Keys felt more lively and looked more like what I'd consider to be a dueling piano bar. Keys on Main felt stuffy and conservative, and it looked like someone had simply converted an old warehouse into a piano bar. At one point during the performances, I looked around at my table and the majority of our party looked bored. To be honest, dueling piano bars just aren't my thing. I've tried to like them, I just can't. People were paying $10-$15 to hear a song that wasn't even played in it's entirety. I'd much prefer to keep my money and listen to a DJ spin music where I can hear the actual song. Again, just my personal preferences. If dueling piano bars are your thing, this might be a decent spot. I came here on the Friday after the 4th of July with a group of 5. We made a reservation online and followed the instructions (show up by 8, show starts at 8:30) and really didn't need to. We rushed dinner, but definitely could have shown up at 9 or 9:30 and gotten a table without a problem. The three performers were excellent. Super high energy, did a great job getting the crowd going, and knew an amazing repertoire of songs. We heard rock to classics to new pop songs to SNL comedy songs. Different groups seemed to tend to request different music genres. If you only want to hear one type of music, you might not love this place. I didn't love the rock, but they generally would do one rock song and then do something else next. You can request a song with a tip, generally $5 but more money will get your song played faster. There was a birthday party there that night that was putting down $30 on songs to get them played! Drink prices are great here. We shared a $20 bottle of wine that was pretty good! Glass prices were generally around $5-6. The performers definitely encourage you to keep drinking to get more into the music. Not the most family friendly (well, and you have to be 21+), but a fun night for a group of friends. Do note that they do not sell food here, which is too bad. read more

I visited Keys on Main to celebrate my friend's birthday. We had a table reserved, which was great because by 11:30 PM it was standing room only. All of the players were very funny and talented, but special shout out to Aaron B. for making our night so much fun. His 90's mashup of Spice Girls - Wannabe and The Fresh Price of Bel Air was flawless. Only to be topped by his rendition of Tupac's California Love. I love that they were able to play songs of all genre's and eras. I found some of the bad reviews sort of funny. Complaining they gave away your table? Then don't show up late! Complaining about the song choices? You should EXPECT to hear any classic karaoke songs because that is what everyone else wants to sing along to. And my favorite - complaining about getting called out for being on your phone in the front row. It happened when I went too. If you're going to be directly in front of the players, it's pretty rude to be on your phone. DISCLAIMER: I have been there only once and on a Friday night. tl;dr: Amazing place. Cheap beers. Talented performers. Expensive song suggestions. Longer version: I never thought piano would be so much fun. I had expected a nice formal setting with someone playing slow classics. It turned out the scene was almost like a night club (yes even with just the piano). It turns out the beer was much cheaper than I expected. 6$ beer mugs. Song suggestions are expensive. How it works is suggestions with higher $ tips are played first. It went up to 20-25$ per song that night (ppl were drunk :p) Would've given it the 5th star as well. -1 just for costly music suggestions (yea you guessed it right they didn't play my song). Love this place! I am a passionate music lover who lives on top of Queen Anne hill and this is is the perfect neighborhood spot to get together with friends for drinks and songs on the weekend. It's also a great place to have a birthday party, going away party, holiday party, ANY party, etc. I have been to many get togethers here, I had my last birthday party here, and this is where my company is having its holiday party this year! During weeknights it's also a cool spot to come down and sing karaoke or check out an open mic while they have some cool drink specials. The bartender and serving staff have always been friendly, many of them have taken the time to memorize my name. All in all they have an amazing staff full of talented musicians and singers who always seem full of good cheer, ready to accommodate, and keep the party and good vibes flowing. I love few places the way I love Keys on Main. I typically come on Thursdays which I find to be completely underrated. I have spent the past couple birthdays at Keys sitting... oh wait who am I kidding... DANCING to the tunes! Aaron and Jordan are amazing, the nights they play together are everything. Travis behind the bar- my man. He's the best! What amazes me about the staff is that if you give them a request they don't know, they will try to learn it- if not on the spot, by the next week for sure! PLEASE visit them. You won't be disappointed. Also, they recently redid the bar area and it makes the space SO much more open and welcoming. I hate that there is now a cover to get in on Friday and Saturday but it's WORTH IT! It's the type of place you go and don't need any other bar stops throughout your night- 1 stop shop. I have been to my fare share of dueling piano bars in multiple states and I have to say this is one of the best. I have gone with a group before, need to go online and book reservations well before if you want to accommodate a large group, and just with a few friends and neither time has disappointed. The groups that have reservations usually get there around 8:30 (start of the show) so if you are not going in a large group if you head over around 10:30-11:00 you can usually get one of the tables as a group leaves. Great place for bachelorette parties as well as I have probably seen a group of girls celebrating one of their bachelorette's every time I have been there. The piano players/singers are really good and truly go out of their way to make everyone have a good time by being funny, engaging the crowd and feeding off of the room's vibe. The group can get a bit raunchy so you will definitely need a drink or two to get on their page. Overall a great place and I look forward to coming here every time I can. read more

If you are looking for a disappointment then this is the place for you. I decided to celebrate my birthday here and invited 16+ people. Seating was cramped, almost all of our bills were overcharged, & they ended my night early without any explanation. I contacted the manger & they later informed me that they do not know why they did this. Pros: 1. Pianists are mostly friendly. 2. Place takes advance reservations. 3. When pianist knows your song & likes it, the pianist plays the song well. Cons: 1. $5 cover charge regardless of party size. 2. Cannot accommodate big parties adequately (12 - 16 people) - space is small, chairs are elbow to elbow & server is almost non-existent. 3. Expensive songs - prepare to spend $20-60 a song. If it's your birthday then the pianists "encourage" your whole party to contribute at least a $20 bec. "it's your birthday." Talk about awkward! 4. Pianists sometimes do not play your song (even if you paid) or when they do play, they cut it short or botch the song. 5. They over charge your drink bill by $20-40. 6. No food menu. 7. If you want to let loose, dance, & have fun then they kick you out. I summary, come here prefer to mostly sit, spend tons of money, and pay for drinks you did not order. read more

How do you begin to write a fair, yet honest review of a place that you absolutely did not enjoy? Well, let's start with the positives... Entertainers/Pianists: 5 out of 5 The entertainers/pianists here are absolutely talented and really impressive. They know most songs (though a friend requested one that they didn't know) and being able to have high energy, musical talent, and keep a crowd engaged is impressive. Seating: 3/5 A friend had planned an outing for us, so she made reservations for 12. We got there and luckily had a seat, but if you don't get there in time to have a seat at a few of the longer tables, you'll be left sitting in random chairs that are lining the walls. I guess a seat is better than not having a seat at all, but the layout felt a bit awkward and wasn't one I cared for. Service: 2/5 The server lost my friend's credit card (she'd only ordered one drink), and while mistakes can happen, the way she handled things were lackluster. After my friend told her that her credit card wasn't in the holder when she brought the bill over, the waitress had a perplexed look on her face. She shrugged and told her that she'd be back to find it, then proceeded to take drink orders at another table. My friend was a bit shocked that finding the credit card that the server had lost wasn't the first priority. A few minutes passed and my friend had to flag down the waitress again to remind her that her card was still missing, only to have the waitress shrug her shoulders and say she didn't know what to do. Umm... all of us had a look of bewilderment on our faces. We spoke with another waitress to explain the situation and then a group of us started to look for the card. Mind you, credit cards get misplaced, but I was disappointed at the overall service and communication during the process. If you've just lost someone's credit card, I think that's the time to over-communicate with them. Tell them that you need to do X task and will be right back in Y amount of mins. The fact we had to flag her down a second time and remind her about the lost card was a problem. After some tense minutes spent searching, the waitress eventually found the card. Music: 1/5 While the musicians are talented, the actual song selection is pretty terrible. Imagine being trapped in a bar hearing folks screaming every stereotypical bar song at the top of their lungs -- Sweet Caroline, etc... It was like being at karaoke but less fun and way more expensive. Atmosphere: 2/5 This was my first time at a dueling piano bar, but I quickly realized this is a place where many groups come for bachelorette and birthday parties. There were quite a few obnoxious groups, but I think this comes with the territory. I also didn't care for the business model of having to tip money for song selections, only to be potentially outbid and have your song ended OR only get about 2 mins of your song. My friend requested a song earlier in the night along with a $25 tip. The performer didn't know the song and they were going to just keep her money. Ummm... what?!?! She ended up seeing the same pianist at the bar when he switched out with another performer and asked him if she could get ANY other song since she'd paid. They finally agreed on a song and he did a great job with the performance... but she had to follow-up with him in order to get him to perform anything. This easily could've been $25 thrown in the garbage. Price: 1/5 There aren't many places in Seattle that charge a cover, but once you pay to get in, you'll continue to pay for drinks, and then need a ton of cash to request songs... only to potentially have your song outbid, etc... basically, I can't understand how this type of business model is actually successful or fun, to be honest.The drink prices are reasonable, but there isn't any food (they allow outside food to be delivered) and the amount of drinks you'd need to have a good time here PLUS request songs would lead to a really expensive night out. To be honest, I'd never go back here and actually count this as one of the least enjoyable venues I've experienced in Seattle. Maybe 3 songs tops were enjoyable, but after that I was ready to leave. With that said, the place was packed and people DID seem to be enjoying themselves so to each their own. The service and seating could definitely improve, but if you like annoying bar songs and spending a TON of money on a night out, you may enjoy this place. read more

I had a fun night yesterday. I pianists were good (comparable to the other dueling pianists I've seen. They did a great job of celebrating occasions. The $10 cover for a Saturday night was fair as was the drinks prices. What was a turn-off for me was the waitress repeatedly hassling me because I was not finishing my drink fast enough to order another drink. Finally, she asked me if I wanted to close my tab. I did and then enjoyed the music for a bit more standing at the back. That was more fun than being at the table anyway. read more
