It was the worst experience of breakfast ever. I ordered egg benedic with steak. My eggs are fried eggs not poached like they were supposed to. The steak taste like rubber , not real meat whatsoever. The muffins a were burnt and hash brow were half cooked. If you don't know how to poach an egg then don't call it egg benedic. It was 12$ so expensive worth of junk in my mouth. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the BLT, my bacon was perfect. The kids had Mickey Cakes and biscuits and gravy and hubby had biscuits and gravy. We were all very happy with everything. Service was awesome, everyone was smiling and happy. We bought caramels on the way out-which were also AMAZING and our dessert is in the fridge. Can't wait to try that later! read more

My second visit for breakfast was as great as my first. Four of us ate here twice and there were no complaints and not much conversation as we wolfed down our food. The food is excellent and the service top notch: friendly and fast. There can be a line to get in for breakfast, but the wait is generally under 15 minutes and the food is worth it. Attended a wedding last night which was catered by Keys .Have been to many weddings in my 70 years many of which were done on a shoestring and the families did their own food which was plentiful and good. This is the worst food I have ever had at a wedding reception! Salad greens were limp. Hot roast beef for sandwiches was full of fat and corn was soggy. Luckily the dressing looked so bad with the dry bread sticking out of it that I didn't take any. As other guests commented, "Thank heaven for gravy! You owe your customers a refund for terrible food. Please stick to your restaurants and breakfast. You should not be in the catering business! read more

Wow so disappointed with the service today. I have been eating at the different Keys locations for the past 20 years and u. ntil today had never had one bad experience. Took friend here for lunch and once our food came the waitress disappeared. We waited and waited for over ten minutes and she did not return. Finally a bus boy brought us a box for our leftovers. Still no bill so I went to register to express my irritation that we never got one and to pay. The waitress came up at this point and gave cashier bill. Waitress apologized saying she had to step out a minute and someone else was supposed to be watching her area. I had card in hand and was ready to pay since at to drop friend at airport by certain time. The cashignored me and proceeded to count the til. I couldn't believe it since she knew I was already bothered that our server had disappeared. I asked if she could hurry it up and again explained i was in a rush and had already had to sit waiting forever. At this point she got very rude and condesending telling me " It will be okay." She spoke to me like I was about two years old. I was so upset that I did indeed resort to name calling which is somethin I never do. I am so sad about my experience today. At least the waitress apologized and was not rude but this cashier was unreal. I love the food and could not believe the poor customer service that I received. Sorry Keys this time you failed to impress and lost a longtime customer. Figured I would call once I got home so did and got manager who listened but offered me absolutely nothing for my troubles. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Not only is the food atrocious but the service as well. Came in with my Grandma today and was told we would have to wait a little bit by the receptionist. That's fine, she was friendly and apologetic. The problem is when Celine came. The receptionist says to her "table for two." Celine looks right at us with this annoyed look and says "I'm already trying to seat other people." Really? No hello or okay one second? Talk about rude woman. As for the food, one of the worst places in town. The cheese is plastic molded like, the eggs are like a webbing of disgust and the sauce tasted repulsive. The service was very fast, which made me wonder if everything is made in advanced and nuked. One of us had their hash and I had a bite. Awesome roast beef in it. I ordered the salmon eggs benedict and it was mediocre at best, although the eggs were done as advertised and the way I like them. The English muffin was rubbery to cut, which made me wonder about the nuking; the hollandaise had *not so much as a hint of lemon flavor* and had me wondering if it was chicken gravy, and the honey-whatever salmon was uninspiring. Our server was cheerful and patient but next time I want eggs benedict, I'll go to Al's in Dinkytown where they make real hollandaise. This is the place to go for good comfort food. Portions are huge, great bacon, and pancakes. Dinner options are an assortment of options you might make from home and every bit as good. Do try the roast beef. Broasted chicken is some of the twin cities best. Great spot to grab breakfast or lunch. It is a diner, don't expect much in the way of classy. Absolutely terrible wait staff, and I can't believe a diner can't cook hash browns properly. Raw hash browns aside, the bottomless cup of coffee was far from bottomless, having to ask for the single refill we were allotted. I'll just stick with Perkins from now on, they know how to cook hash browns and give you a truly bottomless cup of coffee. Also my over easy eggs where nasty and goopy, that is not how you cook an over easy egg, the whites shouldn't be goopy. All in all a terribly overpriced waste of time. read more

Go to Keys a couple times a week. Love the marinaded chicken salad, burgers great, breakfast hash fab and the Potatoes etc are my breakfast go to. Great servers and great service. The rhubarb bars and lemon cookies are to die for! read more

OK Key's, what happened? I haven't been in a while, but went last night with a guest--he ordered the turkey dinner, usually a great choice--and I ordered a Walleye fillet. Hmm. First, food was crowded on a smallish dinner plate--why not use a platter? You must use them at breakfast. Secondly, serving a big wad of mashed potatoes and turkey gravy with my crispy walleye seemed so strange. Food did not look attractive and worse, tasted very blah. My friend was served green beans that were either canned or overcooked. My broccoli, while fresh, was also overcooked. Was the regular chef off? Just not the Key's I remember. read more

I had a great experience today at the St. Paul Key's location, food and service was great as always! My only issue was during the process of paying the cashier up front after dining in. The cashier was conversing with her coworkers behind the counter rather than having her complete attention with us, my girlfriend payed with her credit card and I handed the cashier the tip in cash for the server, I just hope the correct server received my tip given the fact that the cashier was not really paying attention read more

After trying to host our a Baby Shower for our 1st Grandchild we were lied to by another restaurant where we had made an agreement with for our event just up the block. We came to Key's Cafe to host the shower. Celine literally went above & beyond to make this a special occasion. The table was set SO BEAUTIFULLY set it was lovely. All of my guest were very impressed by not only the delicious food but by how lovely the table was set. I can honestly say that our event was VERY SPECIAL because of what Celine & staff did for us. Nick was our server & did very well at making us happy & the food was DELICIOUS & everyone left happy & full, most guests taking part of their meals home. I have eaten other Key's locations for years but the White Bear Lake location is now our favorite of the locations. I understand they have a larger room to host events & I recommend them for any size event you are having. Food & service can not be beat. Please give them a try, they won't disappoint.
