We visited this restaurant on 5/17 for lunch. Sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance. The service was excellent but not rushed which gave us time to relax on a warm afternoon. I had a hamburger which was very good and my wife enjoyed a Cobb salad. But what impressed us most of all was the precautionary measures that they took in regard to Covid-19. Paper menus which were discarded after each party and plastic table ware were used. In addition the rest room was monitored and cleaned after each use. What a great place. My daughter got married in Boca grande on Thursday. The loose caboose was not open but the owner, Jacques, said he would open just for us and let us have our small dinner party there after the Sunset wedding. Visited this restaurant for lunch and ordered a burger with fries. I received a burger with onion rings and the burger was overcooked and dry. I recommend a different choice if you visit here. The others in my group liked their choices (BLT and Railroad Wrap). Also have to complement the wait staff. They were tasked with more tables than one person could reasonably handle, but had great attitudes and moved as quickly as possible. Overall, just OK for me. read more

worst restaurant i've ever been to! to start, it took 45 minutes for us to get a fish and chips and a wrap. no one checked on us the whole time we ate. another waitress came to our table and snatched the drink menu off the table when we were looking at it and never returned it. after the food came i ordered another drink and there was a fruit fly in the drink! no one came to check on us so i handed the drink off to another server and she was rude when i pointed out the bug. then she brought the same drink back STILL with a bug in it and slammed it on the table!! we left the drink alone and told our server to take it off the bill and she said "well it's outside honey" like noooo honey we are servers outside too and we don't serve drinks with bugs in them! overall the place is way overpriced and the service was absolutely trash. read more

Good food butttt. Worst server in all my traveling ever. Yesterday we had to leave after waiting 20 minutes. The servers will watch a two top sit and sit while they run to grab the larger tables that sat after us TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!! Sue will say I'll be right with you and go get all larger sized tables while you wait if there are only two of you. Unfortunately there are not a lot of choices on this small island. read more

Absolutely amazing food, great service and you can also learn about the town and best places to find shark teeth. The owners are very friendly and shared some of their findings on their dives. My husband said the grouper wrap was "the best wrap I have ever had ". We are so glad we went to this restaurant and ate and we will re-visit anytime we are close by. A great lunch spot if you happen to stop by Boca Grande. I ordered the cheeseburger, nothing special but still tasty. The mango lemonade was surprisingly good, as was their special of the day: fried gruper. Staff and "atmosphere" are great, combined with sun and outdoor seating made for a good experience. We found this place driving around Boca Grande. Not many options which blusters their ability to charge a premium. It looked quite inviting with the outdoor seating options. I would say that they are overpriced for sure, but beyond that food was very average, service was very average and orders were slow to be taken and food slow to be delivered. One annoying thing to me was that they include gratuity automatically. That drives me crazy, especially for so-so service. Be careful with how expensive things can get. We ordered two one scoop ice cream simple cones (just vanilla and a sugar cone) and were over $9 alone. Lunch for four was $70. I would try elsewhere before coming back again. read more

Went for lunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Greeted by very nice server who quickly informed of us a 45 minute wait for food. We were OK with that and ordered cocktails. They ranged from $11-12, were watered down with ice and could barely taste any liquor. One person ordered a grouper sandwich which was priced at "Market value", I ordered a crab cake salad, $18 and the last person ordered a grouper sandwich, again at at "Market Value". Turns out market value was $20/item. A substitution of cole slaw for a bag of chips was $2 and we shared an order of onion rings. Food was just average and absolutely not memorable. I'll echo another review, but flip it -- decent service, okay food. Fried tomatoes were so breaded and greasy, it took away from the tomato (along with the mayo-heavy dipping sauce that came with them). Place was busy when we came (On a Saturday around 1:30) but that's to be expected. I never salt my food at restaurants, but the food was so bland I had to along with asking for ranch dressing to add flavor. Well the food was good but I would certainly call this place way over priced for something's that's merely a sandwich shop for the most part. I mean paying 50$ for a grilled cheese and a Cuban and a beer is definitely taking advantage of being one of the few options to eat on this tiny little island. But not to say I'm upset, definitely to be expected when you book a stay in a tiny beach town island that's secluded from the rest of the world. But was hoping for more hole in the wall beach side prices instead of the we know this is nothing but tourists and retired wealthy people prices. Service was ok, nothing to rant or rave about. Although the good to take from this was a delicious beer, a very good Cuban I enjoyed very much, and some nice ice cream to top it of (but again $5 for 2 scoops!!). The wife's grilled cheese with tomato looked good too, she seemed to enjoy it. Definitely can't give this place more than 3 stars however because the price to value ratio is way off, and the menu wasn't much to rave about, but the meal me and the wife are was good so there you have it. read more

I came here with my friend last Saturday, I had the shrimp basket I expected it to be wonderful as most of the locally owned restaurants in southwest Florida have amazing shrimp . Sadly I was wrong it was horrible and basically unseasoned I ate one shrimp and was done. My biggest regret coming here is actually paying for the food I should've asked for my $18 back. I also tired my friends burger and it wasn't any better then a one dollar burger you'd buy at McDonald's. The waitstaff was amazing though. read more

The atmosphere was cute, but pretty cramped. Loose Caboose has failed to grow along with its popularity on the island. There is one toilet for ladies and one for men which caused a huge line of customers waiting. The kitchen was clearly having a hard time keeping up with their flow of orders. Waited for our food for over an hour to finally receive the wrong meal. I was then told that I would have to eat the wrong food or wait another hour for my food. Then when I received the check they tried to charge me for the more expensive meal after the waitress said that it would be marked off. Excellent Service, great food, and good memories. Our family came down for a visit from up North, and we had a large round table outside. The server was very friendly, and made sure we had constant refills. I love the style of this place, and that it is close to a nice walk on the beach before, or after dinner. I've been eating at the Caboose for 10+ years (always lunch) and it never fails plus it's a great setting. My most recent visit was on Tuesday. We got there a little before noon and had no trouble finding a table (rare). This time I had a 1/2 salad w/ a 1/2 chicken salad sandwich - both very good. My husband had a Cuban panini - it's one of his favorite sandwiches and the Caboose's is his favorite version. I also had a piece of key lime pie - very good but could use just a little more bite. The loss of a star comes from the need for new cushions and the price tag... this is not a cheap, economical, reasonable (choose an adjective) meal. Oh and a lid on the paper cups would be nice. read more

Poor service and value. We came for lunch on a Saturday in early Jan 2013. They were busy. We had two small kids with us. It took forever for our order to come...so long I started to wonder if it had never been placed. When the food came I asked for tartar for a fish sandwich, she brought something else, and I didn't realize the error until too late (I was ravenous by then). She looked over and said "wait, did I bring the right sauce?" and then walked away without waiting for the answer. Others who arrived later were served before us. All this would have been ok if there was acknowledgement/apology. Food was nothing special and two sandwiches and two kids meals set us back over $60.
