Doctors first comment when i met them " oh ...the va doesn't pay much" noreal meaningful conversation with the doctor "allowed" to ask one question before sergery. Not comfortable with not knowing. Removing your natural lens and replacing with an acrylic one is permanent so a patient should be allowed to talk to a doctor. I realized because the procedure was paid for by the Veterans administration the quality of care or just care would be minimal as the very first thing the doctor stated on the very first visit was. My husband had an appointment to review information about cataract surgery today. We began the appointment with Tiffany. She stated she needed to put drops in my husbands eyes and would be Bach in seven minutes. about 20 min later a gentleman comes in and tell us she is with another patient and he was going to take over for her. I said that I didn't think that was very professional. We got into a discussion about that and he walked out of the room. We left and received a call from the office manager, who was professional and in her speech said that the other (Tiffany) was doing paperwork that was why the gentleman stepped in. Terrible. They are not familiar with prior authorization with insurance company. I got denied by insurance because from the document i got said I have only try one alternative but actually I have tried a lot before. If they are familiar with that, they should ask me more about what alternatives I have tried. What's more worse, I got a very rude attitude from a so called manager Angela Loftin regarding my excuse from class matter. She refused my request in the first place without consulting the doctor. What she exactly said is like: I will not let my doctor write that note for you. I'm pretty annoyed by that attitude, I could understand if the doctor could not make that note for me but I could not accept she told me in the first place. I don't think she has the professional judgment in respect of this issue. Finally she emailed me said that is the doctor decision but who knows. So I'll go for another physician tranfering my prescription to another clinic. I've been coming here since Dr barke took over this practice many years ago. Before that he did my surgery on my eye lids (at a different practice when he was there) when my eyelids were giving me problems. That was in 1996. He's been my longest relationship with any doctor and I don't plan on leaving him until he retires lol This practice has always been kind and wonderful. I see the same staff year after year and that means alot to me. They are always friendly and kind and the personable nature of the staff and Dr barke goes a long way with me. .Dr barke is always honest with me and puts up with my silly questions every year. I recommend him to all my friends and family. He is very thorough and I can't recommend a better doctor. read more

I had a lasik procedure here 2-3 years ago and come in annually thereafter for checkups. While I don't have an issue with the procedure itself, this location has a serious issue with timeliness. It is the norm to wait over an hour in the waiting room before being seen, then to wait an extremely lengthy time in the procedure room for the doctor to actually come in. If it is expected that the patient arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, it should also be expected that the doctors and employees be held to these standards. There are 15+ other patients in this waiting room with me right now, and every single one of them is complaining that they have been waiting over an hour. Two of the patients claim that the South location is just as bad as well. If I would have known about the lack of respect for patient's time that this company has, I would absolutely not have selected Key Whitman to do business with. I will not recommend them to anyone and will be sure to others know about their awful scheduling and lack of concern for patient's time. read more

I brought my 86 year old mother-in-law here a couple of years ago. Dr. Barke was rude and condescending to her. I don't think he saw me sitting in the chair behind the door. I told him I would NOT be back. His manner was unprofessional. I sent an email to Key-Whitman but nothing was done about him. It's unfortunate because I like everyone else at the practice. read more

Great place! Fast check in, fast back to the room, very low wait time. This is the first eye doctor that does not talk above you. I think I saw Dr. Hardin, and she took her time explained to me what was going on, and what to expect, and how to remedy. I'm a whole lot less freaked out about the eye thing I have going on. Well, I honestly don't know why I continue to come here year after year. Always the same, forever to get an appointment, show up early (30 minutes in hopes of actually getting seen by appointment time), still sitting without call back for appointment 30 minutes after appointment time. The staff is friendly enough, but getting back for things to start rolling is ridiculous. Had better experiences with the generic Wal-Mart and Target eye places. read more

Ist Visit = Success I'm a healthy 76 who hasn't had need of a doctors' care other than dentist and optometrist in forty years. But after two optometrist diagnosed cataracts and I was tired of continuously cleaning my glasses I gave in and made an appointment with Dr. Barke of Key-Whitman Eye Center. From the young lady, Nora, at the front desk through each of the tests each person was personable, answered my questions and explained their significance to my satisfaction. I just had my cataract surgery in the Arlington location. I saw Dr. Faber who is so kind and explains everything and answers all your questions. Dr. Hong did my actual surgery. She is wonderful. I went to them for Lasik and got a nightmare . the operation failed (2 weeks later my vision return to the way it was ) and I went 2 month with a big zit on my eye lid (wax gland was clogged from tape used in surgery ) it would drip into my eye and for 30 seconds I couldn't see ) . Dr Barke said my eyes were ok , then said I need lenses implants and do to all the inconvenience that I had gone though he would do it for free. All I had to do was pay for rent on operation room $1200 and never reimbursed the $1400 I paid for Lasik . I said ok then 1 day before I found out it was ins deductible from consoler . After the surgery then the lens in left eye became lose (things moving around and blurry ) I kept complaining . he would keep telling me everything is great . I finally went to a different place (klinman evangelist ) KE and showed them a video of my dilated And the first thing I hear is wow that lens is all over the place , they did a yag surgery which cleaned and stabilized lens . I had them do the other eye (which Dr Barke was going to do free he said ) They did a good job and done in 1 day , no issues or lies . I recorded all my visits to key Whitman even the surgery . I suggest anyone that goes to him do the same . he lied to me , and I requested any other doctor Key Whitman said no I have to stick with him . that's when I sot a different outfit . Now I have scar tissue in my eye that I will have to go to surgery again FYI anyone read more
