The staff is very friendly and the doctor guided me step by step on everything he did and saw. It feels the entire office really cares.

Took my mother-in-law to see Dr. Barke. He has a poor bedside manner. Everyone else in the clinic is good.

I went for a contact eye exam... they didn't tell me they were going to change me much more than my insurance paid. RIP OFF!

Here is what I told him about my results: As soon as I began using the atropine drops, I was 100% satisfied. When I first found Dr. J's website, I remember reading another patient's review that said "it feels like I've gotten my life back" and that is exactly how I'm feeling. I feel like myself again thanks to the low-dose atropine drops! I've decided that from now on, I'm going to mark January 31, the day I started using the drops, on my calendar as "Atropiphany." Feels like a fitting title for the day that things turned around for me. As a 25-year-old floater-sufferer, I needed the hope that these eye drops gave me.

Results and outcome are ultimately the true measure of the value of any business, particularly a…read moremedical practice. It is also the reason people turn to Facebook and Google reviews; for honest information and input from reviewers. Working with eye floaters and determining improvement is very subjective and a very complex issue. However, I hired Dr. Johnson, "The Floater Doctor", for Yag laser Vitreolysis treatment of a large Weiss Ring floater, and unfortunately, following 2 treatments, I viewed my condition as actually worsening by about 10%. In a nutshell, my one large organized Weiss Ring floater in the side of my vision became many, many disorganized floaters in the center of my vision. That's how I quantified that my outcome represented a 10% degradation. The degradation is the result of the increased number of floaters combined with their location in my eye and the disorganized nature of those many floaters. For a bit, I thought it actually got better and I advised Dr. Johnson of that but again, in different lighting conditions have different effect and what I thought was an improvement, has since become worse again. After a couple months I've now realized that the improvement I thought I noticed was actually illusionary. Unfortunately one cannot really notice the full nature of the results of Yag Laser Vitreolysis for some time after each treatment is performed; at least until the dilation and numbing drops wear off and therefore impossible to know if the treatment was successful for an extended period of time. I would put that minimal time at twenty-four hours and then perhaps even up to several weeks following the treatment for complete results to be realized. Because I drove 800 miles each way to Arlington, TX to meet with Dr. Johnson, I wanted to make certain that I planned enough time to ensure a positive outcome and advised Dr. Johnson of that when I made my appointment and through email communications leading up to the appointment. Essentially, I was available for as long as needed. Although I did anticipate having to undergo additional treatments and had planned accordingly, I did not pursue further treatment because at the conclusion of my second treatment Dr. Johnson said that he was very happy with the results and was surprised at how clean everything looked after starting with such a large floater. Dr. Johnson then advised that he had completed the treatment and no further treatments would be necessary or indicated. That advice from Dr. Johnson lead me to understand that it was Dr. Johnson's assessment that additional treatments were not likely to produce better or more thorough results. Prior to posting this review, I did try to call Dr. Johnson but there was no answer and his phone number does not allow one to leave a message and to paraphrase, simply says that he's very busy and to email him instead. The above is my personal experience with Yag Laser Vitreolysis. I've since put together a five step analysis based upon my experience that I share (when asked) on social media with other floater sufferers who are considering Yag Laser Vitreolysis to help them decide how to proceed. #floaterdoctor #thefloaterdoctor #jamesjohnson #drjamesjohnson #drjamesjohnsonarlington #eyefloaters #weissring #wiessring #yaglaservitreolysis #vitreolysis #laservitreolysis The Floater Doctor - Treatment for Vitreous Eye Floaters #thefloaterdoctor #vitrectomy #treatmentforvitreouseyefloaters #vitreouseyefloaters

As someone who works within the medical field (optometric/ophthalmic field specifically), I don't…read morethink I've ever been this disappointed in a medical staff as I have with this specific KE center. I have multiple family members who have had procedures done here, so I'm sure the doctors do a fine job. My issue isn't with the doctors - it's with the front office staff. The inability to get a singular paper filled out and signed and returned in an appropriate time is actually ridiculous. To tell me to go over to the LASIK department when not a single soul was there and then lie to my face about a doctor being gone and JUST conveniently returning from his vacation on a Thursday before Labor Day weekend is actually insane for a lead supervisor. To send a "completed form" back where words were inadequately covered by white out tape and the doctor's name being misspelled is quite frustrating. For me to return and explain that I need this form filled out and told "we'll get it to you by the end of the day" just to not get it by the end of the day is wild. For me to have to come back after Labor Day and get scoffed at as I walked in to inquire about a form that should've taken no more than a week to be completed and returned, I was already out of patience with the lead supervisor and the staff. She told me "the person in charge of these special paperwork was not in office on Friday." She said "the doctor isn't at this office today." I ended up driving to the Southlake location where the doctor was working in order to get a signature for a simple form that needed to be turned in ASAP on my end but it got dragged out since August 15th when the form was first given to KE-Arlington. I wasted so much time over a form that should've taken 2 minutes to fill out and 2 seconds for the overseeing doctor to sign. Something that should've been returned within the day, or at the very least by the end of the week when the form was given. Now their staff probably thinks I'm a difficult and crazy person, but in reality, they pushed me to become this nasty person.

Upon checking in for our appointment, we were asked for ID. We provided an expired Driver License and copy of the Insurance Card. Without regard for the disabled senior I was bringing to the doctor, we were told the appointment would have to be rescheduled. They would not permit me to bring ID later, nor would they accept a SS card as ID or any other documents we had. No prior instruction was given to bring any ID with us. And they were inflexible and rude about enforcing their decision. After going there for many years, I will no longer recommend them.

I have been overdue for years and for me it was hard finding someone that had availability and was accepting new patients, plus location. Insurance was a whole nother thing that I had to figure out. I called several locations asking if they accepted my insurance. Turns out you need vision insurance to cover eye exam and eye 'things'. Some offices accept medical insurance to cover eye exams and this place does yay! I asked coworkers and unfortunately nobody was able to help me so I had to find a place on my own behalf. After lots of phone calls i stumble across this place. They answer their phone and I was able to schedule an appointment with him for a week out. When I arrived I filled out the traditional paperwork and got process within 20 minutes or so. I would like to say thank you to the receptionist who was very patient with me and explain to me what the difference between some of their exams were. I never needed glasses so i did not understand any of those terms. I could tell she was having a rough day but she was still very nice and patient with me. Another 10 minutes after that they called me back to get started. The whole process did not take more then 30 minutes. Quick and efficient, the Doctor and his staff were professional and knowledgeable, they answer all my questions. I passed my exams with flying color wohoo! My results: 20/20 vision baby!! waz up ahaha! Got my clean bill of health and now I dont have to see them for another year.

In turn, I have been scarred for life and avoid seeing the eye doctor for as long as possible. Then came Dr. Slifer at Texas Vision Center. I began seeing her at age 15 in order to obtain contacts for the first time and have seen her almost every year since. She is very calm, gentle, and caring, which puts me at ease when I was haunted for so long. Now it's been 20 years and I have followed her around town to various locations while she's been growing her business. Her brand new building is very nice, has its own parking, and the hours are accommodating. She patiently gives me loads of trial contacts in order to find a comfortable fit for my astigmatism, suggesting new styles that might be suitable, never making me feel like an annoyance, which I probably am. She'll even squeeze you in for emergencies if necessary. If you need an eye doctor in the area, I HIGHLY recommend this woman. She is a saint for dealing with my decrepit eyes all these years and for taking it all in stride.

They are just the best: knowledgeable, skilled, caring, and kind; and they will spend all the time you need for the best visit and care. They are a true family practice and not the cold assembly-line "care" you too often get these days.
