We have only ever been here for breakfast or lunch. Always happy. Tonight we went for dinner. BETH our server was amazing! She is a star for this diner!!! Both my husband and I had pasta dinners. Appetizer of calamari was not great but the marinara it came with was very good. Salads came out fresh and cold. I had the chicken Florentine. It came with 2 large pieces of chicken breast served over fettuccine pasta with a lemon and spinach sauce. The pasta was slightly overlooked ( it should be al dente). Husband had a chicken, sausage, shrimp, broccoli pasta dish served with penne over a cream sauce. The food here is enough to take home for another meal. Breakfast served all day, sandwiches and wraps as expected from a diner. Greek specialities as well and always about 6 dinner specials. It's clean, well staffed and Florida cute ambiance. read more

I've been a regular customer at Key West Diner for several years. I have a late breakfast 3 or 4 times a week there. I've been ordering the same thing for years. Two eggs, sausage links, home fries. It's always been good, but the last time I went, the sausage had a peculiar taste and I couldn't eat it. I sent it back and got some bacon. Worried that the restaurant had changed to a different brand of sausage, I called and spoke to the manager about it. It was a friendly, cordial conversation. He assured me that it was the same sausage he's been using for many years. Ok, fine I said. I guess it was an anomaly that one time. Today, I ordered my usual breakfast and the first sausage was good and tasted normal, but the second sausage had that strange taste again. I asked my waitress if I could speak to the manager. I just wanted to let him know so he could look into it. I saw her go up to the manager and whisper in his ear and he looked across the room at me. And then he walked down the other side of the restaurant and never came to my table. I waited and waited but apparently the manager had decided he didn't want to hear what I had to say, or offer any customer interaction. I looked over at the kitchen and he was standing there just looking in my direction, but he never came over. I finally gave up waiting for him and went to the register to pay my bill. My waitress was the one at the register and she apologized for the manager not coming to my table. She said "I'll let him know you're not happy". I told her that I will not be coming back. Yes, I'm giving up one of my favorite restaurants that was several miles away from my home, but I refuse to be ignored by the manager when all I wanted to do is help him. On another note, the waitresses have always been superb and friendly. I'll miss them. I've literally spent thousands of dollars at Key West Diner and this is the first time I have ever asked to speak to the manager there. I think it absolutely wrong for the manager to ignore me like he did. Fortunately, there are many other good restaurants who serve breakfast. read more

I went to have have lunch with my family and service dog. I was told that I needed to provide documentation in order for my dog to be with me. I asked for the manager and he told me I should just print a fake card from online. I actually do have documentation and proved my point which is illegal for him to ask and left. He was very rude and told me he could refuse service to whoever he wanted. I said so you are refusing service based on a disability and he said yes! Under Florida law and the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), people with disabilities can bring their service animals to all "public accommodations," such as: restaurants. Had to create an Yelp to warn people to not come here!! The server Victoria let us know some dirt about the kitchen and the cooks and never again will we come back. After the server told us she was "on her period and to give her a break if she messes things up." LAST THING I WANT TO HEAR BEFORE I EAT! When I asked for recommendations on food all she could tell us is things she didn't recommended like the soup, fries, and she warned us away from the salads. The management let our server walk around on her phone when we needed her and she kept rolling her eyes when we asked her for things. If you come to this place! DONT ASK FOR VICTORIA! Showed up at 7:25 after a 12 hour day and no meals in me. They refused to seat me because they were going to close early. Business hours are business hours. Don't say you are open until 8 when you are going to stop serving at 7:25. I had been here a number of times and recommended it to a number of people visiting from out of town. The inside decor serves as an island oasis, while the menu dishes up diner classics, breakfast staples, and Italian/Greek influences. Right up my alley! Our service was 5 stars from beginning to end. It was apparent we had a service industry veteran who understood the value in filling up our coffees six times! Brunching for us five only ran us $50 plus tip. Of course I ordered off their special menu. The Steak Benedict did not disappoint. Overall, the steak was cooked to my request. The one qualm I had were the first two bites, which were extremely fatty. Luckily, the rest of the steak was to my liking. The accompanying home fries were just like the ones I remember from New York diners. Crisp edges, yet still tender in the center! I visit Jensen Beach a few times a year. It's crazy to see which businesses are open from my childhood and which ones have closed. Key West Diner will prosper for years due to their hospitality, affordability and satisfying menu. So when I mentioned it to her she yelled it's not my job to ask what size you want. So I got the hungry man and ask how much it would be to upgrade to banana pancakes and she said she would have to check and see, instead of going to find out she just put the order in without coming back with a price. Overall food is decent. However, "on the weekend" don't be a single diner and let them seat you at a table. How dare you finish your meal and sit for an additional 10-15 mins to let your food digest and finish your drink reading. They charge for coffee refills after one refill in their small mugs which costs $2.25 plus tax. Not written anywhere on the menu or special menus either. It should be written everywhere so the consumer is aware. It is only on a white board in the corner by the cash regIster, which is very hidden and I didn't see it until the cashier pointed to it when I paid. She said they don't have the money to redo their menus. I told her I owned a restaurant and you slap a label at the top of the breakfast section and write it on there. You also write it on the specials menu if you can't reprint it from the computer. I would rather they raise the initial price for their coffee than be sneaky. It is the principle of the matter. There are countless amazing places in Stuart and Jensen Beach to have breakfast that do NOT do this. It isn't like the food and service are so amazing that I can allow this huge issue to slide. Thank god for Key West Diner. This area is honestly hurting when it comes to food, and Key West Diner is the beacon when everything is feeling "blah". When I don't feel like going to a "chain" place, or spending a bunch of money, or trying something different and possibly being let down, I just come here. They have the best hours to food to staff to price to parking to seating ratio lol I know you know what I mean!!!! The food is always fresh and never greasy and heavy feeling. Bad experience. Food had a rancid or spoiled taste. Are maybe a quarter of it, but it was just awful. Waitress said she could remake it, get me something else or take it off the bill. Since my husband was finished (and frankly my appetite was ruined) we just asked for the bill. My order was still charged and the fill -in manager (looked like he was the cook) was rude and dismissive and told us not to come back! Over $10? Just thought people should know that this was a very unpleasant experience and perhaps the REAL manager or owner should have his employees on the same page when dealing with problems like this. read more
