We made the request for the bikes online, filling out the appropriate paperwork for 2 bikes, for what we thought was the next 2 days and hit send. We got back the appropriate disclaimer and waiver forms to fill out right away, which if you read through the entire thing, was hilarious (bonus stress relief)! The following day, which is a Sunday, we waited for our bikes to be delivered. After a half hour delay of when we were expecting the bikes, we decided we had better text them to make sure they were coming. Another delay and we looked more carefully at our reservation and found we had mistakenly put the dates of the next week instead of the current one! We had hit the wrong buttons and made a big mistake and thought we were going to have to walk around town again but before we knew it, we received a telephone call to let us know they were outside our vacation home with the bikes ready to go! They had received our message and scrambled to get the bikes out to us. The fixed the computer reservation and we were ready to go, all with smiles on their faces, on their day off! In addition to us receiving such great customer service, a friend joined us later in the week and wanted to rent a regular bicycle. She walked to a local shop only to be turned away very rudely. Walking home, she came across this same Island Bicycles & Skateboards shop who not only welcomed her in and got her outfitted with a bike, but they also let her have the bike on a day-to-day basis as long as she texted or called to let them know. It was all just that easy!

This last visit in January of 2023, we rented two bikes for myself and my daughter for 2 days. On the day to be returned 01/27/2023, we return the bikes, chain them to the post and put the keys in the drop box as we have done in the past. We returned our bikes approximately 9:30pm, at the South street location. There was an older man sitting in a small hut in the store front driveway. He came over to assist. He was chaining my daughters bike up and my daughter said, should i put the key in the drop box? I said yes, but then the older man said no give me the key. My daughter stated, oh sorry I already put it in the drop box. He proceeded to throw the bike lock down and stated "do it yourself bitch." We finished locking up our bikes as he continued to yell profanity at us in english and spanish. I called the location the following day to inform them of the employee that is representing their company in a very distasteful, disrespectful way to customers. I was informed the manager would call to get a report of what occurred but no one has ever returned my call. My next visit to Key West will not be with this rental company.
