I had a problem getting the full feature installation on a new HP printer which is supposed to scan document to searchable pdf with the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) from IRIS. The directions and instructions HP offers give multiple approaches and app installations, all of which failed to successfully install the pdf scan option for Searchable PDF. Greg from Kevin's Computer Service came over to look into it and set up everything on two of my computers. He came on time and had both of them going in about an hour. We were very happy with the service and the on-site visit, so to be extra safe, we also scheduled a remote support scan on both computers for virus & malware detection even though we use both the consumer versions of Malwarebytes and McAfee. My Mac Air would not charge even after trying a new charging cord. I took it to Kevin's for a repair. He tried to charge it with his cord with the same result. He looked at the charging port and realized a small piece of metal staple had gotten stuck to the magnet inside the charging port. he took it out and the problem was fixed on the spot. I took two of my very problematic computers there and left them overnight and picked them up the next day. They can fix most any laptop or desktop computer and they get it right. Their prices were competitive and they displayed competence from the moment I called there. One of my computers was a badly out of date very large iMac and they replaced it with an up-to-date version and transferred all of my programs and files. And the cost was very reasonable. Do not use this business. It is a horrible rip off. I took in my Mac because my email accounts had stopped working. They initially sold me a virus protection service and upgraded to a new operating system. They supposedly fixed my email. The charge was $415. I still had email issues so I returned the Mac. They denied that the email had been in the initial scope of work despite the fact that that is what I needed fixed in the first place. They claimed to fix the email and charged another $125. I picked up the Mac on Dec 9 and immediately left on a trip. When I tried to use the email for the first time on Jan 11, I could not send from any accounts. I immediately returned to Kevin's but they insisted on a $50 payment because it was past the 30 day warranty! (By 3 days and they knew I had been gone and had not used the Mac) I was furious! I took the Mac to the Apple Genius Bar and they fixed the issue in 30 minutes at NO CHARGE. I have never experienced such poor service and it felt like a scam. read more

I deeply regret bringing my computer to this branch for repair. I'm on day 10 and my 8th trip down to the shop since first bringing my MacBook Pro to them with a dead screen display. The display needed to be replaced and Kevin's quoted $455 for the replacement screen and labor (after trying to upsell me on $300 worth of "anti-virus software"...for my Mac ), $100 cheaper than the Apple Store Genius Bar, so I decided to try them. A week later, they called me in to pick up. When they presented the computer to me with the screen open everything looked fine. When I closed the laptop to bring it home, the left corner of the screen was lifting 1/8" off the case. The manager, Dave, felt strongly that the computer itself had to be bent, not the replacement screen, but said he'd open it up and take a look. I left. Dave called me later to say that he'd confirmed that the computer case was bent and there was nothing I could do about having a repaired laptop that would no long close properly. I returned to the shop. There Dave proceeded to lay my laptop on the counter, keyboard down, screen hanging down over the lip, and tell me "See, you can clearly see that the corner of the case is lifting off the table." I looked. Now: I am no computer expert. But I am 42 years old, college educated with extensive building experience and 20/20 vision, and I did not see any air between the corner of my inverted laptop and the surface of the counter. Not clearly. Not at all. I said "Dave, I gotta tell ya, I don't see what you mean." Dave reiterated his claim, louder this time, with stronger emphasis. I looked again and then I was forced to say, after an awkward beat to decide if I was really going to, "Dave, you're lying to me right now." It was super weird. Two people seeing two completely different things. The upshot is, I told Dave I think he needed to order a new replacement screen and try this again. He relented. I would take my jenky computer home overnight so I could try to catch up on a week's worth of work. Today, they informed me the new screen had arrived. I dropped off my computer in the morning. When I came for pick up in the afternoon, lo and behold, the new screen closed perfectly. I took the computer home. When I went to use it, I discovered the Touch Bar is now dead. Wasn't like that yesterday. Now I'm sitting in the parking lot of Kevin's Computers after the latest drop off. People: what is the definition of insanity? read more

I had a corrupted disk drive that had important business information on it. Kevin's computer worked to extract the information on this drive. It was a very difficult and long process for them because the drive was badly corrupted. Each time they tried to extract the data the process failed BUT THEY NEVER GAVE UP. It took longer then expected but eventually they succeeded. I am impressed because each day I checked in and they told me exactly what had happened but they would keep trying other procedures to extract the data from the drive. I brought in a 2 1/2 year old 14" H-P laptop for diagnosis & repair. The BIOS was reporting a defective CPU fan and you could hear excessive fan noise. For their diagnosis, they spent extra time helping me, trying to locate a replacement fan, but this specific "made-for-Costco" laptop fan replacement wasn't available anywhere. At their suggestion, I reached out to the VISA Extended Warranty Protection, added after Costco's 2-year warranty, so I got a full refund of my purchase price from VISA. Unfortunately I don't think they are honest in their explanations or trustworthy in their work. They updated my OS system without telling me making all my 34- bit programs inoperable. Their response: "you asked us to fix your start up issue and we did." We aren't responsible for your programs." I asked why they wouldn't call and explain the ramifications. He apologized but didn't offer anything except a discount on future work. I asked him to confirm the price on replacing my keyboard. (The previous week was $100). He said $200-250. They also have multiple people work on each computer so there is no consistency or accountability. I won't go back. UPDATE: Christian, the owner of the company called me requesting details of my experience. He not only listened but accepted responsibility. He sorted through the issues and is making things right. Drove over wife's old iPhone 6 (don't ask long story) and shattered the screen. Found Kevin's computer services online and gave them a call he said he had one in stock took the phone to their shop in Dana Point he had it fixed and tested in about an hour for a very reasonable price $80. So I ran over phone, broke screen, found Kevins, got repaired, and back in her hands in about two hours. Luckily she had other crap in her purse that took most of the cars weight and saved the phone.
