Revised review I have high arches. Hit and miss with getting helpful orthotics but my podiatrist suggested getting fresh ones. Podiatrist tried to make some himself. He sent pattern to KevinRoot. They fit poorly and caused much more pain and actually created a new callous. He then told me to go to "see Kevin". I had no reason to make any connection with what I just received. Out of my insurance plan but I needed help. Meeting Kevin, he was very pleasant and seemed to be quite knowledgeable. Made a mold and few weeks later I was able to try. They were not comfortable at all and Kevin was notified. He made some notes and back they went. The "replacement" orthotics were mailed to me. No office visit or contact this time. Tried them again and walked about 10 feet. Very painful and I felt a rip in my forward arch. It was apparent that KevinRoot was not able to construct or modify the device through the mail and that my time allocated was up. I already paid his asking price. When I finally gave up on them helping I let Kevin know. No response. I had to start using other orthotics. This was not a small amount of money wasted and now left with a horrible arch pain that was not there previously. It took two tries to remove the callous and several ultra sound treatments and visits that have not provided any arch pain relief. EVERY step hurts. It wakes me up nightly. This started more than a year ago! THIS PROBLEM DID NOT EXIST UNTIL I SAW KEVIN. If you choose to go this route, I wish you the best. In my case I cannot recommend at all. read more

Just want everyone to know about what a ripoff I just experienced with Kevin Root Medical. My podiatrist created orthotics after I developed plantar faciitis. All was great until the insoles glued to the orthotics wore out and I needed to have new insoles glued on. My podiatrist sent them to Kevin Root Medical. I just received them back and a) the insoles they used were much thinner and cheaper than the original and was charged $58.00!!! For gluing a pair of cheaper insoles to a plastic orthotic!! Wow!! When I called, the customer service was horrible - actually, worthless. I took them to a shoe repair company and they quoted $30. including the cost of the insoles - which were much thicker. BUYER BEWARE - Do not have your worn out orthotics sent to Kevin Root Medical!!! read more

I met Kevin through a recommendation by Steven the owner of Bike Effect in Santa Monica, my road bike fitter for the last few years and one of the best fitter in North America. As a long-time alpine ski racer originally from Canada, I 've had my share of injuries over the years (broken tibia thus shorter leg, knee arthroscopy, and hip rebuilt..) which means my alignment in repetitive sports like road biking is critical to avoid pain and injuries. And of course, 2 years ago my right knee was acting up on the bike rides signaling an old injury area was degrading. I knew the answer would have to be Custom Orthotics that I 've had for 40 years for ski racing, working out/running, dress shoes and biking years ago. Steven knowing how complexed my issues are, he recommended I go see Kevin at Foot In Motion. Enter Kevin, he is the real deal. He is passionate, super knowledgeable and above all a perfectionist like myself and furthermore, he has the right tools to build the right orthotic in his shop. The key is the preciseness of the posting when the mold is made of the feet which is a real art combined with the right choice of material. Net, Kevin was patient enough to review about 8 pairs of orthotics I had with me and my injury history and built an aggressive custom orthotic for road biking shoes that corrected any extra movement that was irritating my knee before and locked in my high arch feet in neutral very similar to my current running orthotics. Instantly, my irritation disappeared and was able to get back to biking 50 mile+ rides. Kevin's knowledge and attention to details fixed my issue 100% and could not be riding today without the orthotics he built for me, He is truly a mad genius at what he does- you trust me as I've had my share of custom orthotics over 40 years for all different activities. By the way, Steven from Bike Effect reviewed my orthotics - he had never seen a pair built that looked like them and confirmed by video analysis that he had never seen me better aligned on the same bike over the last 10 years. I am a doctor who is using kevinRoot medical for the first time. The phone service is sketchy and the customer service is worse. I at first called and left a message and NEVER got a call back. NOT GOOD. I called again a week later to only get excuses. I decided to give them a try and ordered a brace. Their website says 24 hour turnaround from the time they receive the brace to send it back to the customer. They charge a LOT for the service but if they really did what they claimed it might be worth it. Bottom line it has been ONE week after they received the shoes to modify with the brace and they have NOT shown up. i had spoken to the company and told them I needed them by yesterday and they understood and PROMISED to have them ON TIME. They failed. Now my patient will leave for vacation for a month without a brace. POOR SERVICE. I am done with them and their false promises. The orthotics are really comfy and have helped to reduce my foot pain so that I can exercise again. Every single person at Kevin Orthopedic was a dream to deal with and highly professional. Kevin is very knowledgeable and knows exactly what to do. I have had a lot of foot problems for many years, and I work for hours and hours on my feet. I have had several pairs of orthotics made before, but then my podiatrist retired. An interim pair of orthotics was disastrous (actually created a neuroma), but Kevin came to the rescue. I was referred to Kevin by one of the best bike shops in LA, and its master fitter, who does bike fits for champion cyclists from around the country. If Steve trusts Kevin, I was inclined to trust Kevin. That trust proved to be entirely justified. Not only was Kevin affable and flexible, accommodating my schedule and even meeting me at the shop to do my molds, he was incredibly responsive to the many questions I had about my orthotics as I got used to them. He worked with me to get them to fit perfectly, even modifying them as I got accustomed to the higher arches and could handle getting them back to the shape of my original casting. I suffer from pretty bad hot spots, and also knee pain, and since getting my orthotics both have subsided. I am now on my second pair, and can't believe that I'm even happier with this pair than the first. After struggling to get custom orthotics to work from various other sources, I think I've found my guy to keep my legs happy so that the only thing that keeps me off the bike is work, not comfort! Kevin will make your orthotics quickly, and he will happily work with you to make sure that they are right for you, including modifications as necessary. I was referred to Kevin by my podiatrist who had attempted to fit me for a pair of orthotics. I have a fused left ankle and had recently sprained my right one. The original orthotics were just not working and Kevin was tireless in his attempts to make them right. He eventually, at no additional cost to me, fit me for a brand new pair and since I live in Malibu, had them mailed to the house. Needless to say the new ones work great and I am back walking every day with minimal pain. His office staff are friendly and responsive and the overall experience was great. Was introduced to this company through a friend's suggestion and I am so glad I did! I was suffering from this strange pain on the ball of my right foot for about 3 months. Nothing seemed to help. I workout regularly and spend a lot of time on my feet, so giving weight-bearing exercise up was not something that I wanted to do. I saw Kevin a couple months ago and he was able to diagnose exactly what was going on with my feet. He and his staff are very professional. I was fitted for a pair of custom orthotics and they arrived within about 2 weeks after the fitting. I met Kevin at the Foot and Ankle Institute in Santa Monica. I can't tell you how impressed I am with his professionalism and knowledge. For years, I have suffered severe pain in my ankle and have been at a loss for what was the cause.
