Lychee Martini
Em R.

Came here for drinks at the bar on a Friday night, small place, but nice atmosphere. It was pretty lively and busy, noticed it was a lot of large groups and birthday celebrations. Service was good although I was double charged on a cocktail and good thing my friend checked the receipt and the bartender removed it. We came back later around midnight to check out the club downstairs. It was ok, we didn't stay long since we did not like the music. Also, I was surprise there was not a lot of people ordering drinks at the bar and that they charge 20% tip included with the drinks which I noticed later. I probably won't be back at this spot.

*this review is for the bar/club below* This is a busy club, not super huge. They have a long bar, small dance space, DJ booth, and some reserved tables. The music was good, it got busier/more crowded as the night went on. Got some dancing in, then I was ready to head out when it got really crowded.

Went to Ketchy Shuby for a birthday dinner with 17 people. It was great that they were able to accommodate such a large group. We were given a prix fix menu at $85 pp. However, after drinks the price ended up being closer to $200 pp so do what you will with that info. The vibe is very fun. It's a great place for a night out with friends. They had a DJ playing, lights out, and sparklers for the birthday girl. People stood on chairs and twirled napkins. Overall it was extremely exciting to go! As for the food, it was unfortunately pretty mid. The best thing I had was the yellowfin tuna tartare. The rigatoni is mentioned in many reviews on here but unfortunately it was flavorless. Not sure if our huge table was a factor there. I wanted to love the food because the place was fun, but for the price it was just not worth it. Overall, it's a nice place for a celebration or girls night. Not sure I'll be back, though.

It was good! Not great. The ambiance is wonderful from the moment you walk in, it is a truly gorgeous space. The service was impeccable as well with a friendly host and an attentive waiter. Now onto the most important part, the food. It was very good but nothing stood out. I don't have any complaints about any of the dishes we got as they were all adequately cooked and seasoned but there was just nothing special. We had the crispy rice, tartare, dips, Burger, Branzino and rigatoni. Each were very good but again, nothing blew us away. In a city of incredible food it's imperative to offer stellar items.

Food was so amazing! One word to describe it is spectacular and unique in flavor. The chicken was cooked to perfection, it was flavorful and luckily not dry! Drinks are on the stronger side so I guess that's worth it! Service was great the hostess found us a table despite us having missed our reservation spot. This was amazing considering it was a Saturday night . Our waitress was attentive and sweet. This is a nice chill spot they have a lounge downstairs from them however it's pretty pricey to get in there .

This place gives Tulum vibes in SoHo. Recommend reservations as the place is small. I recommend dressing it up as everyone was pretty dressed up on a Saturday night. The service was solid and attentive. They were trying to flip the table quick so I thought it was a bit obnoxious the servers trying to clear a dish when almost empty or drinks. I get it but it made the experience rushed. However, the rigatoni was flavorful and cooked well. The cheeseburger and chicken sandwich were also a big hit at the table. The ding in the stars is also the club partner below. They have a basement club underneath and we went to the bouncer inside after eating and said they are open just need to get a stamp from the front. We go to the front and the bouncer said they are not opening for the night. So it was misleading and seemed like judgement on our party. Whatever the case, the place left a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn't recommend.

Ketchy Shuby is a trendy spot in SoHo that is mainly known for having a club beneath, but we came for dinner in the restaurant. Love the vibes and interior design here. I started with the SoHo Bay drink - it was decent. They make their drinks strong here, but needed a tad more flavor and "oomph." We tried a variety of food items Things we loved: -Rigatoni Vodka: this was DELICIOUS and very flavorful. Vodka pasta can be a hit or miss, but Ketchy Shuby makes a good one. -Curly Fries with truffle cheese: hard to go wrong with a curly fry, and we don't see a lot of these on menus! -Chocolate Lava Cake: a must, we ordered the dessert platter and this was the star of the show. I could have passed on the Heirloom Carrots (needed a bit more sweetness), the Baked Bread (it wasn't bad, but nothing outstanding - too seed-y for us), and the other dessert platter items. I also would not suggest ordering their Espresso Martinis - they have too strong of a vodka flavor. Overall, we had a solid experience at this spot and would love another plate of the rigatoni!

Ketchy Shuby is a great place for groups. I came with a group of 4 on a Friday at 7:00pm and the restaurant was about half full. The restaurant picks up around 8:30-9:00pm and is filled with larger groups. Most people dressed pretty casual but some were dressed up. The restaurant is well staffed with pretty good service, but once it got busy service took a bit of a turn. Drinks were fine, not great. The bartender gave me a hard time about modifying a drink so stick to the basics. The food, however, is really good. We loved everything we had, especially the Rigatoni, Tuna Tartare and Ricotta.

This is apparently a sceney spot with late night dancing! BUT I'm old and had a 6pm dinner reservation which was still fantastic. Service was prompt and always there to help. The food was incredible! Highly recommend the rigatoni

Sea Bream - watch for bones!

Had a horrible experience. The fish had so many bones I almost chocked. Service was not good and generally rude staff. The inside has a dim vibe which could be enjoyable to some. I'd go elsewhere.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. My party went in and had dinner at Ketchy Shuby and then asked to go down to the lounge - we were told to go back outside and get stamped, fine ok two different doors. The bouncer Richard was insanely discriminatory and literally saw our party of 8 - majority were not white - And would not let us in. He let a group of 4 white people in before us with NO minimums with 2 guys in the party. We had three guys in the group and he quoted $200 a guy. I've been in NYC a long time and that's a price to get you to turn away, not a "oh yes this is a standard minimum" The even more concerning thing is this is their response from a supposed Supervisor. He literally says "the claims are unfounded" and tried to gas light me on my own lived experience. Honestly the worst place I've ever been to, clearly doesn't know how to handle customer relations, and has zero remorse around this. Literally walk down the block to a true self respecting club and go out at Gospel or Jeans rather than this shit hole

A trendy restaurant and lounge tucked into the heart of SoHo. The drinks are good and bartenders are fun. The music here in the downstairs lounge was great. We stopped by for dinner before and I didn't feel particularly strongly about the meal, was a little on the salty side.

I came to Ketchy Shuby for a dinner date the other night. The vibes of this restaurant were super cute - it reminded me of Tulum. We were seated in the back and started off with some drinks. We both preferred the espresso martinis which weren't bad. As for food, we ordered a Caesar salad, the branzino, and the salmon. My personal favorite was the salmon. It was cooked just right, with the center being a bit rare, and paired with lentils, greens, and a sauce. The branzino was also yummy and a large portion. I thought the Caesar salad could use less dressing as it was quite salty. The servers were also a bit slow at times. We had tried to order another drink and it never came. Once we finished our dinner we headed to the speakeasy downstairs. It was still early so it was pretty empty when we were there but the vibes were again cute and I could see it popping off later in the evening.

Here's the rundown: - naan: recommend this, though maybe overhyped myself based on previous reviews. The yogurt sauce was delish, but the bread itself was very good but not mind blowing. - BLT salad: dark horse fav! Tons of flavor and I kept going back for more. Recommend as an app - Union Square bento: honestly, wish this came in a real bento box. Seems like a miss, but I suppose separate plates give you more volume. Good to add as a side to whatever else you get. Cabbage was the best of the trio. - rice bowl: squash and rice were solid, but the shrimp was the standout here! Very flavorful shrimp. Not sure how they packed so much flavor into the little bites of them - fried chicken thighs: I mean, yes. They're juicy. They're fried excellently. The side sauces are creative and great for vinegar-lovers like me I also got the carrot cocktail which was ultra smooth and had the right amount of dill flavor. We got two cookies to go which were divine. I'd get them to stay to try it with the oolong milk next time, but we had to run. The service was friendly, courteous. Ambiance was trendy but not uptight. Would recommend for a nicer night out

The gnocchi was nice - just the right amount of chew with a cheesy interior, and a nice sauce that was creamy, crunchy from bread crumbs and little bits of toasted garlic, and a nice herb oil over top. The tiramisu was next level - definitely more chocolate forward than coffee, but still did a nice job of bringing those two flavors together with the salted mascarpone. There's a layer of crunchy wafer bits halfway down that made the experience particularly unique. Total worked out to just under $57 after tax and tip. It's expensive, and getting in is such a hassle. I'd still come back at least for the dessert (and the pasta is decent too).

Every single dip was so delicious I wanted to take some home. The layers of flavor were amazing, and it was impossible to stop eating it with the freshly baked pita! The other dishes--North African eggs, steak, and Brussels sprouts--were just okay. The biggest surprise was the dessert--Lemon Frozen Yogurt! It was so delicious I wanted another serving!! The acidity was just right, refreshing without being too sweet. A bite after the meal was incredibly soothing. Not every plate was a hit, but the standouts were SO good that we'd absolutely return. We made a 6:30 PM Saturday reservation to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. I'll admit, the location initially threw me off. It has a somewhat corporate feel, tucked between buildings near the Lincoln Tunnel Expressway on Manhattan's West Side. But once you're there, the buzzing patio and lively atmosphere win you over. Great for date night, dinner with friends, business meals, large groups, or a pre-event meal. A wide age range and a crowd that feels like it's hitting on all cylinders. Bonus points for a thoughtful anniversary card waiting for us when we sat down. Such a sweet touch! We skipped cocktails after a full afternoon of drinking, but more than made up for it with the food. The menu is designed for sharing. What we ordered: * Fattoush salad | 3/5: A creative spin on the classic, topped with pita, thinly sliced Honeycrisp apples, and candied pecans. The apples and especially the pecans overwhelmed the dish for me. I'd love to see more vegetables and fewer sweet toppings. Prefer a traditional fattoush, but this was fine. Need 1/4 the amount of pecans given * Tuna tartare | 1/5: Unfortunately, the one miss of the evening. The description with cucumber, figs, and cardamom sounded incredible, but the dish fell completely flat. The cucumber purée had an almost gel-like texture, and the tuna didn't taste fresh to us. We sent it back. More acidity, spice, and sumac could help, but the freshness and texture were the bigger issues. * Octopus carpaccio | 5/5: STUNNING. I usually gravitate toward a cooked octopus tentacle, but this preparation with fennel absolutely won me over. One of my favorite dishes of the night. * Pita: Thick, soft, and delicious. We went through two baskets! An excellent vehicle for the dips and appetizers, but honestly good enough to enjoy on its own. * Little gems | 3/5: Served with za'atar crumbs and roasted grapes. The grapes initially threw me off, but the combination worked surprisingly well. A creative salad I really enjoyed, but $19 for some leaves, breadcrumb & grapes is pushing it * Manti | 5/5: Little wonton-like dumplings stuffed with spiced beef, served over garlicky labneh with oven-dried tomatoes. Absolutely delicious. A must-order for us. * Crispy latkes | 5/5: Everyone should order these. Perfectly crispy with a lovely thyme finish. An excellent side that deserves its own spotlight. * Charred broccoli: A very generous portion served with cashew harissa that packed some heat. So tasty that I accidentally ate the entire side myself... oops. Bottom line: Zou Zou's is worth a visit for the atmosphere alone, and do need to return to have actual entrees. The tuna tartare was a miss, and the fattoush wasn't my favorite, but the octopus carpaccio, manti, latkes, and broccoli more than made up for it. Add in thoughtful service touches and a lively, versatile setting, and we left happy.
