I was recommended this place when looking for a brush pole (a very small fishing pole) for my then soon to be born great nephew. The staff and owner are extremely friendly and I've visited a few times since because I love to fish. Though freshwater is more what I do since I've been fishing freshwater since I was a toddler. Being near the ocean this is mostly saltwater - which I'm still a huge newbie at. So I do feel overwhelmed looking at the saltwater gear while they're busy with other customers. But they never have made me feel bad for not knowing a lot about saltwater fishing. Which is awesome. Sometimes being a woman who fishes people tend to be a little - odd - with me. The owner has a very loving dog that I gather is named "Shop." Definitely a huge plus and makes me want to come back. They should have a sign with his photo on it reading "Shoplifters will be licked to death." Got to love a store with a dog. I'd come back just for him alone. It's small but deep. Still, I wish they were bigger and could move to The Grant Boy's old location so they could have more stuff, maybe some knot tying and other types of fishing classes so those of us trying to expand the type of fishing we do can learn without having to wait for things like The Fred Hall Show. I love shopping for fishing gear the way some women love shopping for shoes. So a bigger store I can browse more - HEAVEN! read more

The selection was very good. I enjoy being able to see what I'm buying especially when it comes to soft baits such as swim baits. It can be convenient buying online thru Amazon or other online retailers but you miss out on talking to guys that just enjoy fishing and know the area and are more than excited to provide tips to help you out. Alan was very helpful. He did not pressure me into buying anything and was very knowledgable about different applications for fishing saltwater and freshwater. I enjoyed being able to speak to him like a normal person about fishing and not someone who was trying to sell me on a brand or technique. He was also able to repair the rod tip of an old rod of mine fairly quickly as it was crushed after leaving it in my parents garage for a few years. I'll definitely make an effort to stop here before my next big fishing trip. read more

Taking my 10 yo son to pick up a rod n reel set up. These guys r friendly and don't try n sell u wgat u don't need. Ill post my review after ee r done. Super excited! Later.....as expected, got a great price on a shimano setup, the guy hooked everything up for me so I could walk out and hit the pier. Taught my son and I how to tie the knots, gave me eveything I needed to go. Didnt try to upsell at all. Patient and friendly. Great little gem! read more

Jimmys has quickly become my favorite tackle shop. Looks small from the outside but it is very well organized and clean so they are able to carry everything the bigger guys are. Good selection of rods, reels, and tackle and can outfit you for anything from surf to bass to party/charter boats. I visit their shop fairly regularly to pick up more tackle as I'm on the sand fishing the surf 2-4 times per week and do other types of fishing throughout the year I've never experienced any issues with stock levels. Best of all is their staff is very knowledgeable and does a very good job of making me feel valued as a customer (something I find lacking in *many* businesses these day). read more

Great customer service. Rick was very helpful with everything from bait to lures, etc. will def be back!

The guys at Ketcham were awesome! I went in for my pole to be restrung. They answered all my fishing questions & helped me get the correct tackle for my next trip. read more

This tackle place was such an awesome area to look for whatever fishing things you need, it's also an awesome environment to be in. There's always a good furry friend waiting for you at the door named Shop. Thanks to Mr. Ketcham we were able to find everything that we needed to have an amazing time fishing experience later on. read more

I am new to fishing, at least catching the fish. Instead of going to my usual big box stores, I decided to come and check this place out Couple of weeks ago. There are some reviews that are not very flattering but I I've learned that you can't please everyone. When I came, Aaron sold me a few items contrary to what I wanted to buy per YouTube recommendations. He sold me this yellow surface iron instead Of a light pistachio color. I went fishing the next day in La Jolla and boy did I catch some major fish with it. It included a fish that Brooke a 50 pound test monofilament line. I have also returned things to them. If I could give them six stars I would. They're knowledgeable, friendly and very pleasant to learn from, purchase from and conduct business with. I will be coming to this place over and over again and highly recommend it to others as well. read more

They had everything I could ask for. Salt and fresh water. Great fishing store. The owner and his father are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Shop dog is a plus. Excellent selection for a small store and reasonable prices. I've now bought several high end reals here and they always hook me up. Tackle selection is on par with much larger stores. I'll be dropping a lot more money here in the future read more

More than just a tackle shop. A family owned business that has a long history of helping local anglers catch fish. A deep knowledge of local waters and conditions with innovative products to help land "the big one". Owner Jason Ketchum and his dad, Rick, are more than just proprietors of a business. They ARE fishermen !! A very comfortable place to shop where it feels more like you're visiting old friends and picking their brains for the knowledge they have of what's working on the ocean right now to catch fish. read more

I m from NorCal. Walked into this store today because of yelp good reviews. Reasonable price. Great customer service. Will come back when I am around the area next time. This store has great potential to expand their product inventory. read more

With the closing of Glenn's tackle I was looking for a good small local store to give my business to. I've used angler center for some stuff but if you're not a professional bill fisherman dropping $500 at a time it feels like they are looking down their nose at you when you walk in. I found Jimmy's and is just what I was looking for. Small shop but has everything you need from trout to big game. Prices are always decent and they frequently have sales and clearances to make room for the newest gear. The guys are friendly and helpful and I usually end up there just to shoot the **** when I've got some time to kill. Jimmy's will continue to get my business as long as they are around. read more

This place is great. I have been picking up some new hobbies and i wanted to give fishing a shot. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful especially with my lack of knowledge. This is the place to go. read more

Had everything in stock and the staff was very knowledgeable, what a great experience. I would recommend them for all your fishing tackle needs. read more

I stopped by this shop to browse around while I was waiting for the wifey to finish her final exam and it was by far the best decision ever! This shop might not be the biggest but it has the greatest staff and the best prices around. Highly recommend this place for anybody in need of some tackle. read more

I've bought my whole arsenal of fishing gear there. There the best in town. Go there!!!

The reason for giving five stars is because everytime I go in there they are more than helpful and they are all super friendly I'm glad that there's finally a good tackle shop in my town because everywhere else was a rip-off. I highly recommend this place to any angler. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff, won't try and sell you what you don't want or need. Highly recommend this shop.

I stopped in here because I shop at one of the stores nearby and needed some heavy duty fishing line for a project I am working on. I was soooo impressed! I have never walked into a more organized, clean and friendly business. The two guys working were so helpful and got me in and out in no time. I wish I fished just so I could go back, but if you do fish this is the best place to go hands down! There are the epitome of what a small business should be run like. Friendly, fast, clean, organized and super helpful! And from the looks of it, they have every single thing you would need for fishing. Thank you guys! read more

Our first visit the Ketcham Tackle. We experienced GREAT service. You don't get local knowledge, friendly one-on-one service and some basic fishing instruction by shopping online. Being a local business owner myself, I make every effort to shop local and support local business. Ketcham Tackle has a wide variety of price points. Our two boys are going to do some kayak fishing this summer and we needed to start from scratch. We were able to get all the equipment needed at a great price coupled with awesome customer service. If you need fishing gear, I highly recommend. read more

I found Jimmy's tackle shop because it's right next to my work and it makes it easy for me to get the gear that I need before a trip out. I've come in many times now, and I would consider myself a regular. There staff is always friendly and eager to assist if needed. I always talk to an older gentlemen, he's pretty funny. The gear that I get is anything from hammers for the harbor, lures and soft plastics for trout, and now that cat fishing season is right around the corner, i'll be coming in for some hooks. I was just there yesterday and saw they carried some pretty awesome fishing artwork and I decided to purchase two for the office. That way, when things get stressful in there, I can look at these pictures and "picture" myself somewhere else! Overall, these guys seem to like what they do and it's always a cool atmosphere in there. read more

Tell them your budget and fishing plans and they'll set you up right the first time. No unnecessary, ridiculous upsells or fancy sales tactics to get you to spend more on products that you don't need. no pretentious "tournament fisherman only" or "private boaters only" atmosphere like other shops nearby. The staff at this shop, Rick, Alan, and Jason, genuinely want help anglers of all experience levels to get on the fish as well as have fun with them while they're in the shop. If your lucky enough you might even get a sloppy lick from their resident shop dog aptly named "Shopdog" or "shop" for short. read more

Jimmy's fishing supply is awesome. If you know what you want, you simply walk in and buy any product without the notorious sales pitch. If you're unsure of what you need to get, Jason (the store manager) has a wealth of information about fishing. Whether it be pier, lake or ocean fishing, he will point you in the right direction without trying to up sale you on your gear like most outdoor stores. Great products, great employees, legitimate information, close to fishing. What else could you want? read more

Needed to buy earthworms for biology project. It was simple to buy them and store was easy to find.

Used to go to the anglers centers and grants for my fishing needs but I found a one stop shop with Jimmys. Whether I'm stopping in to grab some bighammer swimbaits for the bay or buying a new rod and reel setup for a trip, these guys have it all. Sometimes I go in there to buy a few things and end up shooting the sh*t with Alan while checking out the new gear. Guy is hilarious. read more

Stopped by today after reading the great reviews. Had used Anglers Center down the street in the past but figured I would give this place a try. I went in looking for some trolling gear for an upcoming trip but was also interested in picking up a new two speed reel and and a rod to go with it. These guys were super friendly and super helpful. Answered all of my questions about trolling tackle and I then asked about what they would recommend for a new two speed. They showed me several even though I let them know I wasn't really planning on picking one up today and answered all of my questions. I was so impressed I pulled the trigger and picked up the one I wanted. They strung it up for me on the spot and didn't charge for the braid, mono top shot, or 30 yards of leader they threw in. I'll be back! read more

Great bait shop, stopped by on my way to Newport Beach, gave me some pointers, very helpful and would go again 10/10 great customer service

Very nice shop, very well set up with plenty of gear stocked, they have all the nice gear, and at very decent prices. Excellent customer service, these guys really know their stuff and they're super friendly. I happened by here on accident on my way to Newport just to grab some bait, but i'm glad i stopped by - will be back here for sure! Very impressed with the level of knowledge and service these guys provide. Highly recommended!!! read more

Drove up and imediatly was helped. Any question i had was answered, (didnt have much of a clue to selecting a good pier setup) and bam, simple yet effective. They have a variety of fishing supplies for fresh and salt water but mainly salt. Thank you very much for your help! read more

Excellent service! Didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need and was very nice and friendly. Definitely will be back.

I was in a bind and after a disappointing experience down the street at Angler Center, I called up Jimmy's and they had the reel and line that I needed. They are always helpful, have a good selection of reels rods and tackle and their selection seems like its growing to meet some more big game stuff every time I go in. Thanks for the help, and the great customer service. read more

Love small shops with GREAT customer service. Anglers Center is a little closer but prices are higher and can't match the personal attention. Not to mention they don't have a Shop Dog! (Seriously that is the dogs name!) you will be pleasantly surprised how much inventory they cram into a little place. Been fishing since my teens so the BS alarm goes off pretty quickly in some stores, no worries here Lol. read more

Great location with a huge inventory. Very knowledgeable staff. Great place for adults and kids
