You ever ride your bike so much that you forget to get your tires changed? Well it was about time for me to address those concerns as I was riding on pretty much a flat tire and I just so happened to be nearby. I was able to check-in for a quick tube change and the staff here was excellent. They let me know how long it would take so I was able to hang around the shop for a bit. Service was quick and easy and the shop itself has a ton of bike products, including a wide selection of bikes in case you are in the market for one. Another thing to note is that it is right next to campus making it the most convenient location for all of your biking needs. I only needed one tube change and it was under $20 and is now saving me so much time on my commute to and from campus. read more

Went to purchase around $150 worth of parts for a bike rebuild. Cables, housing, etc. Rosey was quite helpful, suggested which parts I could easily find at Community Bike Works. To preface, throughout high school, I worked at a legacy local bike shop in Long Island, where we had longstanding relationships with our customers. Customer satisfaction came first, all else came second. Thats what I learned. Included in my shopping list was a cassette. As a college student, I brought many of my bike tools (just in case), but not a cassette tool. I asked the other mechanic (bald guy), who's name I didn't get, whether there would be an installation fee for the cassette, or (asked quite nicely) if I could possibly install it in 2 minutes at the shop. I understand insurance policies, company guidelines, etc. Keswick is indeed owned by Specialized. Rosey explained this nicely at some point. The other guy said, "The only thing you can get for free is out!" "Excuse me?" I said. "Out?" "Yea, like leave." He said. He saw I was being sold $250 of parts. A simple no would've sufficed. This snarky guy needed to be clever. Wanted to tell him off and storm out, but end of day, I shut up and left with cables and housing and stuff. Getting the other parts elsewhere. Get it together man. Don't be a douchebag to your customers. Zero stars if I could. read more

I've dropped in here multiple times over the years and I've had variable experiences. I've met some of the least enthusiastic people at this location, who look like it pains them to talk to and help customers. Usually bike shop workers enjoy their job and love to talk about types of bikes, finding a perfect fit, and how to keep bikes in working order, but I've been met with silence, no eye contact, and awkwardness multiple times when getting my bike serviced. Also another time I came in to see how long it would take to build a bike that would get delivered there, and they told me 1.5 weeks. 2 weeks later, I got a call that they finally opened the box and checked my bike and it was unbuildable because of damage in transit. Could they have opened up the box at least when it was delivered? The derailleur was poking out, so it would have been logical to glance in the box and let me know sooner rather than later that it should be returned so I wouldn't miss my return window. It's unfortunate this is the closest shop to me, but Firehouse is worth the 20 minute walk if I need anything done. Cheaper, much much faster, and more respect for their customers. read more

I have taken my bike here because their location is convenient and they work pretty fast. However, the quality of their work is just average, and they will gouge you on parts. For example, an SRAM PC 850 chain costs $15 MSRP and they charge $25. While the bike works better than when it comes in, the techs are a little sloppy when it comes to tuning the derailleurs to shift as smoothly as possible. read more

Bad experience with this shop. Would not buy again from here. Most other trek retailers take returns within 30 days but this shop does not , even though the marlin 5 was not fitted to us. Also had a long back and forth with returning a bike bought on trek.com and shipped to this location. Went between managers Tyler and Zach almost for 2 weeks in order to get my return processed. Also bought a bike stand from here (unused and still packaged) and was told it could not be returned . Would recommend the Manayunk trek location instead! Glad to see the professionalism in the response to my review ! Continues to prove my point about this "business". Again, would recommend Manayunk because they let you ride the bike once and accept returns if the customer (who pays money) is dissatisfied. read more

Really shady business practices. Brought my bike in for two new tires and was told by the technician it would be no problem, maybe thirty minutes to an hour. Went to the register and the line items had magically multiplied into almost $500 in repairs. Be extra cautious if you want this place to do anything for you and make sure it's only the work you requested. read more

Always great service. I just came back from the store. I had an issue with my gearshift. Instead of waiting in line and get charged for a complete check, the staff helped me with their knowledge. It was not a big deal but I appreciate it so much. Thanks for the great customer service and I will definitely come back for my new bike in few months. read more

Horrible experience. I brought in my damaged carbon wheel for replacement in June 2022, and no response for 5 months so far. They basically took my $1500 wheels. I called them a few times, and each time I was told they will check the situation right away and call me back but no call back or anything for at least a few months. Avoid this place. There are much better bike shops in the Center City. read more

I can't comment on their repair services, but I'm always able to have questions answered and find a good selection when looking for a part or accessory. They seem to carry items in varying price ranges, which is helpful if you're on a budget, or really looking to invest in something. During business hours, they have a tire pump station set up outside. A great convenience to have in the neighborhood! Also, I could walk in with my well-behaved dog, which is always a plus :) read more

I have been a customer of Keswick for over 20 years. I have purchased my children's bikes and accessories since they were babies at both locations !!! My daughter is a college student home for the summer and even though Wolf Cycle is closer to our home she decided to go to Keswick Cycle... I initially thought this was a bad mistake due to an interaction with an employee. While the workers are usually polite and expedient this experience was different. Due to a possible misunderstanding I am revising my review from a 1 star to 4 star... After speaking with the owner Brian I am satisfied that the ultimate goal is for employees to treat ALL customers fairly and I am confident that Brian strives to instill common decency in all his employees.... I highly recommend this shop to cyclist and they support local bike groups too !!! Keep up the good work !!! read more

This place is trash and I will never go here again. Had them build a box bike and then a fit. Build seemed ok at first but the fitting experience was horrible. The guy clearly has done 0 research on the bike before the fit even though he had it for 2 weeks. Got there and they spent 45 mins trying to figure out how to cut the seat post (again, bike was there for 2 weeks). After finally deciding they could do it the fitting began. Guy took apart more of the cockpit than was necessary which took time. Fit finally finished after 2 hrs and they told me to come back another day so they could put the tape back on. Told them no and do it now. When they reassembled the cockpit they snapped the gear wire. Once I got the call a few days later that it was in I went there and it was the wrong brand. Then, when they went to get the next one it was sold out but they found it somewhere else. Went in and the technician told me he wasn't going to install the wire then tried to charge me. Now I said build seemed ok at first. After a few rides I found my handlebar getting for shaky. Got home after a ride and realized they forgot to add a screw back to the install. Found a spare myself to use. Then, my rear derailleur just fell off. Currently working to get this fixed. All in all. Would have just wished they told me they could build this brand and saved me time. I'm spending more money for other bike shops to fix their mistakes or wasting time out of my day learning how to do some of it. On top of it all, with the exception of 1 employee, most were pretty sour to be around. I'll never go here again nor should you. Way better bike shops with more knowledgeable and enthusiastic employees. read more

Even if the employees who did such a terrible job are no longer there, I'm not sure I trust this person either, soooo... And no, I did NOT go back to the shop that went way over budget and did a terrible and dangerous job. Why would I? --- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ended up with a scar on my chin and two broken ribs after paying $600 more than the initial quote they used to hook me. Almost a year ago I needed a new frame and rebuild, as the one I had was from the 70's and was starting to bubble. I normally go to Firehouse bikes, but a coworker had recommended them. (Employee #1) quoted $750 over the phone, but once I got into the shop the estimate ballooned up to $1150. In the end, the actual cost was $1350, and it was 4 weeks later than they said (they originally quoted me two weeks). I didn't mind paying and waiting, as (Employee #2) (who was performing the rebuild) seemed knowledgeable and ensured me that they did a very thorough job. The frame was also pretty nice. Fast forward a few weeks, and my new brakes failed in the middle of traffic. I rear-ended an suv, and while I originally thought everything was cool (just a lot of blood because it was my face), things got worse throughout the day and when I went to the emergency room I needed stitches and later found out that I had two broken ribs. I went to Firehouse, and they confirmed that my original brakes were perfectly compatible. They did a thorough review of the bike and found another problem with the rebuild in the derailleur. Keswick is a dishonest shop. Don't go to these guys - go to Firehouse Bikes on 50th and Baltimore. They'll do a better job, and will give you a more honest quote. I never should have gone anywhere else in the first place. read more

I came in a couple months ago with a screeching front wheel. The mechanic quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the wheel on the spot. He also told me that I could have a complimentary re-true as the wheel settled in. Another mechanic fixed my companion's bicycle at the same time. Service was professional, polite, and pretty fast. Keswick Cycle was the ONLY shop that would ship the bike I wanted to my home (I live in NYC, and given the bike boom the bike I wanted was sold out everywhere). They packed it incredibly well too - which prevented it from being scuffed during the shipping. Shout out to Tyler and Brian for being attentive, responsive and caring at all times. Had a great experience buying my bike here during COVID pandemic. They pulled several bikes for me to look at and were really thorough in explaining the differences between bikes. The staff was not pushy and I called back later when I had decided what I wanted to purchase. They had the bike ready for me when I went to pick it up the next day! They also helped me pick out some accessories and they installed them same day. Tyler also helped me pick out a lock and even took the time to show me the best way to lock up my bike. They have free bike check ups! I bought a used bike from Facebook marketplace and took it right in for a free check up. They are so nice too! They give all kinds of advice for bike care and maintenance. I purchased a bike lock on sale for only $16.99 and they installed it for me for free and taught me how to lock my bike. My bike had problems with shifting gears and they fixed my gears for a service fee of only $15, which is reasonable since I do not know anything about bike maintenance. read more

I was looking for a specific bike from specialized and they are one of the few places in Philadelphia that is an authorized dealer of it. I called everybody on the list and NOT ONE will give me a discount except for keswick cycle that gave me a nice deal. i ordered/purchased the bike, a few tools, parts and lock. i saved close to $400 Employees are wonderful and friendly (even on the phone). Provided me with the info about the bike, its maintenance and how to secure it.. Will i come back to their store/s? ABSOLUTELY! every single time i need something bicyce related. Note: Dont be intimidated with their fancy sliding doors and that nice sofa inside. Prices are not expensive.They know how to run a business and most importantly, they care about their customers. Super-helpful staff, along with a great selection of bikes (and even a "relatively-great" selection during the worldwide bicycle shortage of 2020). I bought 2 bikes from this company within about a week (one from University City, the other from Paoli), and they were noticeably above-and-beyond the help I was getting from a few other local shops in the region. Best biking store in the whole area! The staff is just on point and know what they are doing!!!!

This is an recent expansion of 'Keswick Cycle', with one location in Glenside, PA, and another in Cherry Hill, NJ. They carry a number of different lines including Schwinn, Cannondale, and Specalized. They just opened, and so may not have in stock their full lines of bikes, but they seem to focus on bikes for 'everyday' bikers (so not high-end competitive racing bikes or $$$ mountain bikes). For high-end bikes I guess go to Manaynunk. In addition to bikes, they carry a full range of biking accessories (e.g., bike locks, helmets, gloves, shoes, and bike strollers). They occupy the space that used to be a bowling alley. They have done a nice job renovating the space (apparently they occupy about 1/3 to 1/4 of what used to be the bowling alley, and the remaining bowling alley space will sometime in the future be occupied by a restaurant and a yoga studio). The staff seems very friendly and helpful. The person I talked to at the store noted that they have a long history of partnering with the UPenn bike repair shop (that odd UPenn bike place behind one of the churches on campus where you can go get help fixing your bike, kind of near 40th and Locust) and that their store intends to continue to work closely with this organization. Overall, it's a very nice bike store in a great location for Upenn students, and a great new addition to the neighborhood. read more

My bike had been sitting in storage on the floor sideways because it has no kickstand and had fallen over a couple months ago. When I picked it up to re-inflate the tires, I had the unfortunate realization that the handle bar had misaligned. When the tires were facing straight, the handle bar was facing right. Boo! I took my bike to Keswick and they faced it right up. Taking down one star because the fixed literally took two minutes, but cost me $10 bucks. Five bucks sure, but 10 smackaroos for something so quick and dirty left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I needed two tires put on rims. I called and figured out that it'd be cheaper to unmount the rims myself and bring them in. Once I got there the repairman walked me through the options/recommendations and how much everything cost. I asked to see examples of the treads and even though he was busy working on another person's bike he took the time to show me an example. Overall Keswick Cycle was friendly and helpful on the phone and I was helped quickly when I went in. They were knowledgeable, willing to answer all of my questions to my satisfaction, and finished my repair quickly. They were low pressure and easy to say no to upgrades. The price on the phone was very close to the actual price. I recently had a review deleted which expressed disappointment with Keswick Cycle because of their use to gorilla marketing and posting stickers all over the city. I received a response from the business and am satisfied in knowing it was a misunderstanding with a former employee. read more

I originally reviewed Keswick (the West Philly location, specifically) back in July 2016 and I gave them 5 stars. Since then, I've continued to go to Keswick for all my bicycle needs, and every time I'm there they re-confirm that they are a great shop. They are friendly, helpful, honest, and professional. In two cases, different employees went out of their way to go above and beyond what was required of them to make sure I had a positive experience. I trust them with my questions and they always make me feel taken care of. So I'm updating my review 3 years later to say they are still kicking butt! read more

I purchased a $2000 bike here in the fall. My experience pretty good. I've had some minor hiccups, even though I purchased an expensive machine I feel at times they continue to sell me things that I shouldn't have to pay for ($5 installation fees), and sometimes the service could be better (problems with tube installation and getting appointments for tuneups). But they try decently hard to take care of customers. Boxing and shipping a bike is also reasonably priced. read more

For out-of-towners in University City (UPenn, Drexel, etc.), this is a great place to rent a high quality bicycle for the day. Cycled from the shop over to the Schuykill River path north past the Philadelphia Art Museum. Through Fairmount Park and then on to the wonderfully-woodsy Wissahickon Park bike path. Who knew the countryside was within Philadelphia? Bike was comfortable and light, and even had a water bottle holder. The staff at Keswick were great although renting a bike entails a few extra minutes of paperwork (this is true everywhere I've found), and they even let me do after-ride stretching on the floor. Great location close to Spruce Street bike lane, and a block from Hip City Veg and Ben & Jerry's. Because after a long ride, you deserve tasty snacks. read more

When you live in West Philadelphia, you're going to get a flat. It's just inevitable. To my knowledge this is the only shop close to Penn's campus in West Philly. The staff have always been knowledgeable and friendly. If you take the wheel off of the bike, they charge you $5 less to replace a tube, tire, or both. They also have an air pump outside of the store if you do not own one. If you're trying to get Gatorskins or more premium tires, I recommend getting them off eBay or Amazon, versus in the store because they're pretty expensive. read more

Brought my bike in to get a flat fixed & have a basic look over. The mechanic Cassandra did a great job. She reviewed my bike and gave me an estimated quote before I left. We then discussed which items were urgent and which could wait. When she discovered additional work needed to be done, she called me first to check if I wanted the repair done. My bike was ready timely and feels like new. The price of the repairs (tire, alignment, brakes, etc) were appropriate and affordable. Keswick is a great addition to the neighborhood. I brought a very busted up bike in thinking I could fix the problem with some oil on the chain. They helped me out and realigned and diagnosed problems. 15 minutes and $15 later I have a working bike. The mechanic was very nice and very helpful as was the guy at the register. I wouldn't buy a bike here as they're super pricey. Gotta capitalize on those rich college people in the area I guess. But, as a repair shop/place to pick up something small for your bike, it's a really great consumer experience. read more

Great shop! They have a lot of Specialized bikes at good prices--women's Vita was around $400. Definitely check them out if you are looking for a new bike. The guys are super friendly. The staff always offers to help when you walk in. I was looking for a rear rack basket (incredibly hard to find) and they had one style in stock. It wouldn't fit over my Topeak rack so the guy back in the mechanics shop cut away some of the springs so that it would fit over it, free of charge. I love that they are super accommodating and want to make sure everything works for you. read more

I'm very happy that this bike shop decided to locate here in west Philly. Service here is excellent as should be expected from a top quality bike shop. The mechanics are friendly and do good work. The employees have always been friendly to me and are knowledgable and willing to take the time to get something right. The owner is exceptionally good with bike fittings. I purchased a carbon road bike from this shop. They also have aluminum and steel bikes for many uses. Plenty of variety. read more

This is by far the worst bike shop I've ever been to. I'm hoping that other who read this review will be spared some stress/grief by not buying bikes from this place. I bought an $800 bike brand new that had a factory defect, which the people at the store were aware of but neglected to tell me when I was buying the bike. I took the bike in to get tuned up/fixed twice, each time the issues with the bike got worse. I requested a refund because they couldn't fix the issue and there is a known manufacturing defect with this particular bike. One person said I could get a refund, another laughed in my face, and another said they would try to get replacement parts from the company. I didn't hear back from the store about replacement parts after a week so I called. Another week passed and they had no answers. The second time I called the store essentially told me to stop calling them and that they would reach out, and that I would have to sit tight for possibly months. Meanwhile the chain was falling off my bike every time I rode it. I ended up calling the manufacturing company only to find out the store had actually never submitted a claim under my bike's warranty. Throughout this entire process, all the back and forth I had with the people at this store, they were condescending, rude, and acted defensive when I would try to get help from them to fix the brand new defective bike they sold me. I ended up taking the bike to another store, and they were able to solve the problem immediately and didn't even charge me after I explained the situation with Keswick. Basically the people who work at Keswick are not very competent and extremely rude. The attitude they have towards customers is gross. I strongly discourage anyone from getting a bike here. Maybe if you need a tire fixed you'll be fine going there, but they're not skilled enough to handle anything else. read more

I just moved to Philly and was looking for a shop to maintain my Yeti sb5.5c mountain bike. I found Keswick Cycle and have been so happy with my experiences so far! The store is awesome, has a great selection of bikes and accessories, the service has been top notch, and everyone is super knowledgeable. My first experience was when I broke my dropper seatpost lever - I took my bike in, Rob, the service manager, took care of it while I waited and was so friendly and helpful. He had me back out on the trails that afternoon! Since then, Rob has been so helpful with taking care of my bike and helping me with questions and concerns I have about my bike. I completely trust him and the rest of the crew there, and will definitely be taking all of my bikes to Keswick Cycles in the future! read more

I got a flat tire on my way home and this was the closest place I could get to. The guy was able to do it right away, but for some reason it still took him 20 minutes to actually get it done. I went to check out and I was charged $23. That is absurd just to change a tube. Firehouse Bikes on baltimore charges $10 total. I started to leave and then realized that the mechanic had put my back tire on backwards so it was in fixed gear position instead of freewheel, I had to come back in and have him turn it back around. He admitted that he "couldn't remember" which side i had it on. It was obviously the freewheel side since that was the side with chain grease on it. Also I was standing at the counter the whole time so he could have asked. Never coming back. read more
