Doc saved my life! There aren't enough words for me to describe how unbelievably amazing my journey…read morewith Organic Oncology has been. From my first call with Doc, I felt a level of kindness and respect I did not experience with my previous providers. Doc has gone above and beyond to support my breast cancer journey. He's providing me with education and a treatment plan and protocol that not only saved my life from chemotherapy, but has now, within the same year as my diagnosis, freed me from cancer completely! Doc and Melanie have supported me in the most personal and impactful ways. Doc's level of care and protocol has not only gotten rid of the cancer at the stem cell level and restored my immune system from near death; but has also led me on a personal transformation. I truly can't say enough about Organic Oncology. The entire journey has been pure joy! I'm grateful, blessed, and so thankful to have found Organic Oncology. I highly recommend reaching out to Doc. The best decision I've made during my breast cancer journey has been to trust Doc and follow his guidance and protocol. Fighting cancer is a difficult journey and the support for the whole person is hard to find. Doc has treated me like family and continues to guide me on a path of healing. I'm living proof that the results will save, restore, and change your life in the most beautiful way!

I did exactly that. I repeatedly told staff my baby was coming, but I was told there was no room available. Then my water broke directly in front of the Labor & Delivery desk. I dropped to my hands and knees, screaming and crying in pain while my husband repeatedly begged staff to help me. I was not immediately examined, given a wheelchair, or taken for care. An off-duty nurse who heard my screams from outside the hospital came in, recognized the emergency, got a wheelchair herself, and rushed me toward triage. Because I had not yet been admitted, my husband could not come with me. When the elevator opened, I was in such advanced labor that I physically could not sit because my baby had descended into the birth canal. I crawled out of the elevator on my hands and knees. In triage, I removed my own soaked clothes and shoes, climbed onto the bed myself while shaking uncontrollably, and repeatedly screamed that my baby was coming. Despite staff being around me, I still was not immediately examined. One nurse asked my name, told me I was "doing okay," and walked away. It was only when another nurse realized my baby's head was already crowning that a physician was called to catch her. My daughter was born approximately eight minutes after my water broke. Thankfully, my daughter and I were physically okay, but that does not make this acceptable. I genuinely believed I was going to deliver my baby without medical assistance inside a hospital. The incident became known within my OB's practice. At my postpartum appointment, staff were already aware of what happened and referred to my delivery as a "horror story." I am sharing this because no woman in active labor should have to beg for medical attention while her baby is literally being born.

After researching local oncologists, I chose to visit with Dr. Begas. I called and made an…read moreappointment after pressing the dedicated "new patient" prompt. The scheduler was pleasant and provided me with most, not all, of the information that I needed to know prior to my visit. She said she would send me a new patient packet to complete prior to my visit, tho, I never did receive it, so I did not have time to review the paperwork. Unfortunately, because of scheduling conflicts, I had to call back a 2nd and 3rd time to finally secure an appointment. Each time, the scheduler was pleasant, but and only provided me with most, not all, of the necessary information that I needed. They each said they would send me a new patient package, but never did. But, not ONCE during any of those conversations, did any of the schedulers explain to me that I would not only be billed for my copay (which, of course I knew I had to pay), but, that I would also be responsible for an amount more than 3x that for a "facility charge" as the Dr. is "affiliated" with BRRH. When I arrived, Rose gave me a few papers to complete, which I did standing at the main desk, rushed, as there were other patients waiting to check in. I never did gt to read the very loosely stated paragraph that says I am responsible for Dr and hospital charges. As a layperson, I interpreted that to mean that IF I was admitted to the hospital, I would be responsible for the hospital charges, which, of course, I agreed. 6 weeks go by and I received a bill for my copay, which I immediately paid. A week later, I received another bill for and additional $157.47!!! When I phoned and asked why, after she placed me on hold for over 5 minutes, Evelyn in the billing department, very matter-of-factly and with a condescending tone, informed me that the additional charge was due to the relationship the Dr. has with the hospital. I then spoke with Stacy the supervisor who, with the same matter-of-factness reiterated the same information. She did say she would "discount" my bill by $50, but the amount is still more than 2x my copay. I was emphatic that THIS INFORMATION BE DISCLOSED WHEN SPEAKING WITH THE NEW APPOINTMENT SCHEDULER so that the potential new patient can make a personal decision whether or not they want to see the Dr. I would NEVER have made the appointment. I would have gone to one the the other hundred oncologists in PBC, Patient beware! As an aside, the Dr. ordered a test for me and I never received a call to schedule it. It seems I fell thru the cracks. I even called back to ask about it and the girl I spoke with said she'd look into it and call me back, but, never did. Maybe this practice is just way to big if they can not keep track of their patients and their tests. Thank God I was only there for a consult and did not require serious treatment and attention.
