I waited well over a year to write this review. I originally gave him a 5 star, before I even let the operation heal, but I want others to have an honest review. He didn't remove the gyno, it is definitely still there and I'm still embarrassed about it. There is still a large lump on the left side. I voiced my concerns at the 6 month post-op check up and he just said I was wrong and complimented himself on the results. He doesn't listen to his patiences, and he told me numerous times if it was still there he could do a second operation. I still have it, but he just says "no, it looks perfect".. he's delusional. I think the operation would have been worth 3k, but not 10k for what was essentially a gyno reduction, definitely not a gyno removal. I'm happier than I was before the surgery, just wish I went with a different surgeon. Put a lot of faith into him, maybe he is just behind the curve at this point in his career. Just to be clear, I didn't have a major case of gyno, almost can't even tell there is a difference. Whenever I can afford to pay a different surgeon and get the time off work, I will probably get the surgery again, because I really don't want any gyno. Dr. Jacobs performed my gynecomastia removal surgery four months ago and I am beyond pleased with my results and the entire experience. I wanted to remove my gynecomastia for a couple of years, but I must admit I was horrified by the thought of the procedure. A couple of years ago I decided to look into a couple of (other) doctors and had bad experiences. One doctor made me wait a couple of months for an appointment and then wanted to charge a few hundred dollars for a mere consultation (which I eventually cancelled). I then made an appointment at another center nearby and the staff were extremely shady so I never went back. Almost out of hope, I came across Dr. Jacobs in a Google search last fall. Everything about this man seemed very legit--a very professional office without any shady staff, no shady online coupons for thousands of dollars off a surgery, great online ratings, and a New York Times article with favorable coverage. Dr. Jacobs was very human and very honest with me regarding my condition. He honestly explained that due to the severity of my gynecomastia (stage 3) he wasn't sure if he would also have to make incisions below the nipples (in addition to the lipo incisions). He and his staff--unlike the other place--did not pressure me at all into getting the surgery. They were very open to questions--in person, on the phone, and via email. I also very much appreciate how the staff was particularly caring as I was extremely nervous about the surgery. I got the surgery four months ago today, and the results are spectacular. My self-esteem has increased tremendously and my chest looks great. I highly recommend Dr. Jacobs--especially if you're nervous or unsure regarding whether you want to move forward with the surgery because they aren't pushy at all. And my results were amazing. During my early teen years I used to search about gynecomastia and found that Dr. Elliot Jacobs was a leading surgeon in fixing the problem that many men deal with. I always said if I was going to do it I would go to him. From 13 to 30 years of age I visited several doctors that told me I had breast tissue under my nipple and that working out wouldn't remove it. I tried with no luck. At age 30 I finally decided I was going to go for a consultation and it was the best decision I ever made. My consultation was back in August of 2016. Dr. Elliot Jacobs answered all my questions and concerns. He explained everything as best as he could. I brought my wife and my sister there too and he made sure to answer all of our questions. His staff was very helpful, patient and kind. I set my surgery date for October 13th which was just a few days ago. I was super nervous and had emailed Dr. Jacobs several times with questions and he would answer them right away. His staff member Cathy whom is the surgical coordinator was able to answer all my financial questions plus more. Any questions I had they answered super fast, by email or by phone. Dr. Jacobs saw me again for a pre op review on October 7th. He basically went over the procedure again and answered more questions again. I was most nervous about the Anesthesia. He kept saying it was he best part and it actually was. I met the anesthesiologist on the day of the surgery and he was just as awesome as everyone else I met in that office. He really made me feel comfortable and that's probably because I was asleep and didn't feel any pain. After I met with him Dr. Jacobs came in and drew on my body and explained exactly what he was going to do. I went to the surgery room, was having a conversation and don't remember when I went to sleep but I did. Next thing I know I woke up and my man boobs are gone! I took my shirt off before even though I had moobs but this time I'm going to be even happier taking my shirt off. I just can't wait to get back in the gym! So...I didn't have much pain but I guess that's subjective and it depends on the person. I am trying to stay away from the narcotics and I am just taking tylonel instead. Since Thursday I've only taken 4 pills. 2 at 3am on the night of the surgery and two last night. For the most part i don't seem to need to pain killers. Btw, not to mention that Dr. Jacobs called me the night of the surgery to see how I was feeling, it was an unknown number so I didn't pick up but he left a voicemail. That made me feel really good that he was looking out. The next day we spoke on the phone and he provided me more advice and reassurance. Today I was able to shower and took all the gauze off and such. My wife helped me as well. When I looked in the mirror I saw swelling and bruising but I am super happy with the results. It's going to look fantastic! As I said before, i can't wait to hit the gym to start lifting again and really get it to look better and better. I had a few more questions and emailed Dr. Elliot Jacobs again and he replied super fast as always and it's the weekend! I couldn't be more happy that I chose to go with Dr. Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs performed my revision gynecomastia surgery in March of 2017, and now 3 months later I couldn't be happier with the results. (My first gynecomastia procedure was done 19 years ago by a surgeon in Atlanta who removed too much which caused crater scars.) I really appreciated Dr. Jacobs' honesty regarding what he could do, what to expect, and what the end result should look like. Never even got to see the doctor. The receptionist told me I would be turned away because of my service dog and when I asked to discuss it with the doctor, the office manager came to the front to tell me that it's the doctor's right to choose not to meet with any patients who have service dogs, regardless of what the federal law may have to say about accessibility for individuals with disabilities. If you're disabled, don't bother - you'll be laughed at, ignored, and turned away. Luckily, I've since filed a complaint with the DOJ and the state medical board, since I don't take a violation of federal law nearly as lightly as Dr. Ego seems to. Edited: Having seen the reply Dr. Jacobs left on my original review, I figured I'd respond once again just to clear things up. First, some text from the ADA, a federal law which supersedes the state law to which the doctor claims to adhere: "Under the ADA, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is normally allowed to go. For example, in a hospital it would be inappropriate to exclude a service animal from areas such as patient rooms, clinics, cafeterias, or examination rooms. However, it may be appropriate to exclude a service animal from operating rooms or burn units where the animal's presence may compromise a sterile environment." "When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person's disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task." https://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm I was never asked either of the above questions and, as I said, Dr. Jacobs never saw me, which makes it hard for me to believe that he is so certain that I am not disabled, or that my dog, a well-groomed black lab mix who accompanies me to work (and everywhere else I go) with no problems, is a "large, unkempt, shaggy-haired" animal. Unfortunately, Dr. Jacobs seems convinced that all disabilities are visible, and there is no reason a seemingly able-bodied person may need a service dog. This further illustrates his disregard for and lack of knowledge about the diversity of disabilities that exist and the needs of our disabled community. Luckily, the ADA provides guidelines to accommodate both me, a person with an invisible disability and a necessary service dog, and his staff, no matter what allergies they may have. Perhaps someday the good doctor will spend some time researching this federal law, so that he can refrain from violating it in the future. read more

Dr. Jacobs did a great job with the gynecomastia surgery. This is not a simple procedure - so I took my time to research different Dr.'s across the country and after a long list ended up going with Dr. Jacobs. He is more expensive than the others but I didn't want to risk a sub-optimal outcome. The most important thing I can emphasize is patience. The first month after the surgery, it looked bad (understandably so) and having to wear the pressure vest was annoying especially with work and business travel - but I got through it. Roughly 3 months after the surgery I started lifting weights and bench pressing again and the scaring was still visible. 10 months have gone by now and it is not even noticeable that I had surgery. read more

I arrived on with time to fill out my paperwork and Kathy at the front desk was wonderful. She had me in on schedule. Dr Jacobs is nice and asked a lot of questions to do a through evaluation. I was then treated with a numbing cream and asked to wait the 15 minutes to have it take effect. Next Dr Jacobs took me back and injected a syringe of Juvederm. He reminded me to watch for bumps and gave me a gel ice pack. Kathy gave me another as I headed out. All were professional and it was a great experience. I have since redone my procedure with another doctor who had amazing bedside manner and charged me only $1500 for what this guy charged me almost $5000 in the end because he had to redo because he couldn't do it right. Stay away from this guy he is a ripoff artist and has no Integrity. Go to dr Thomas loeb. He is amazing and his office is beautiful!! I should say that he originally charged me $3500 but when He messed up he charged me another $1500 to redo it and when he did, the stitches came out. He would not and still has not refunded me for the $1500 for the second procedure that he did a horrible stitch job as they fell out. He did not care. JACOBS and staff were the most courteous, effiecient and proficient I have found in my lifetime. I went in for an elective 3 hour surgery and left feeling like a new person, and like I was royalty. The pre-procedure meeting was as comforting as the surgery itself! The results were BETTER THAN EXPECTED, and I give 10 STARS for outcome! The ensuite surgical facility made it easier to come and go from the procedure, and all major equipment expected was present. I wanted so bad to give 1 star, but i don't think any other surgeon could have done a better job with my gynecomastia problem. That being said, i agree with David J. review saying that scar tissue WILL form and may be frustrating to see almost no improvements after surgery. Unless you are a doctor, you don't know what a "scar tissue" is until you see it. I thought it was a "scar" problem rather than a "tissue" problem and i think this should've been explained better. Seven months after surgery i can say that i see GREAT improvements after injections by Dr. Jacobs and minimal scars in the sides of the chest. Dr. Jacobs is a great surgeon and it could have been a 5 star review if it wasn't for my last visit to his office. There is a little be of scar tissue left and i wanted to know if there is anything i could do to remove it ( including another surgery) because i wanted it to be perfect. He snapped. He said if he continues with the injections, it could open a hole in my chest and he wouldn't do it ( i totally agree! ). Then he opened the door and said if i look for other surgeon to fix it i would be STUPID to do so...if he had called me stupid in private i wouldn't be so offended. But he didn't. I underwent surgery for a tummy tuck last year with Dr. Jacobs. After speaking about the procedure two times prior to my surgery, I must say I was convinced he was going to do a great job. I was wrong. After my surgery, I realized the procedure that was done, looked more like a mini tummy tuck. He left a large amount of excess skin (due to my pregnancy of twins) and moved my belly button about an inch and a half down instead. I paid over $10,000 for this procedure and am very disappointed. But my disappointment was not due to the outcome of my surgery but to his response when I expressed my discontentment. He told me I should stop acting like I am the victim and that he is not a magician. He said I should be happy that I am not as fat as I was before. Before my surgery I was about 154 lbs. At the time of the discussion I was about 145 lbs. My problem as I mentioned to Dr. Jacobs was not my weight. It was the excess skin. I am 5'5 and have a curvy body which I embrace. Aside from him not having any compassion, I expressed to him how unfair it was for him to do something that was never even discussed with me. If it was something that would have been discussed as an option or alternative procedure then I would have at least been informed. But he just assumed that I would be happier because I did not have "two other scars" as he explained to me. He did do a good job with the incision. That is all that I have to give him credit for. He offered to do the operation a second time free of charge but I declined. I would much rather pay for someone else to do it again. The money is not so much my concern, the trust is. And to be quite frank that is something I do not have for him after his insult to me. I would have respect him and trust him if he had just told me he apologized for assuming and not informing me. People and especially him, as a doctor, should take ownership when they make a mistake. read more
