I was very disappointed with my long awaited paid consultation with Dr. Fagien on my 65 th birthday.He looked at me disapprovingly and said I looked swollen due to fillers and that what he would have to do was a ALOT of work. I was very excited and mentioned I was green to cosmetic surgery. He said "what are you a farmer?"I have no idea what I did to deserve this attitude. I was hoping for a consultation that would provide me with both clear suggestions and a willingness to execute them. This was even more disheartening since I had been hearing about Dr Fagien for so many years as being the best and knew many years before even making this appointment he would be the one I would go to once I was ready. I was left feeling either I look good enough as long as I lay off the fillers or I am a lost cause. I can assure anyone reading this review that I do not have the look of an over injected person. Most people consider me attractive, natural looking and if they had to guess they would peg me for 8 to 10 years younger than my actual age . I really just think he didn't want anything to do with me for reasons I can not even imagine. I was perplexed and my birthday was a little less happier. I have since been in touch with reputable plastic surgeons who have told me that the process I need is common and doable and that patients are typically pleased with the outcome. I am still shocked by the unpleasant consultation I had with Dr. Fagien and his lack of professional courteous communication during it. I remained calm once I saw how it was going. I waited as I was told for someone to give me the quote. I quietly left his office baffled. I'm now going to mention pricing which was the very least of my concerns but worth noting . As a luxury cabinet designer I understand ballpark pricing and will only do it with a disclaimer that until I see and design a project I can only price a project once designs and materials are approved by my clients. I was given a ballpark on the phone when I made the appointment with a staff person with no disclaimer given. The price given to me at the end of the consultation was 50% higher than the highest end of the range I had been given over the phone. I am cool with spending what is needed if explained kindly and intelligently. I never inquired about the disparity between the ballpark and the quote because I knew Dr Fagien and I were not a good fit and I would never let him perform surgery on me so why even waste my time asking. Additionally, but not surprisingly, no one in Dr. Fagien's office ever followed up to see how I felt about the appointment, if I had questions, or if I wanted to move forward. I can easily say that meeting this surgeon is the biggest regret of my life. A blepharoplasty is a pretty common surgery with minimal recovery. When it's performed right, you can go back to work after 2 weeks. In my case, over the past 12 months, I have had many complications post op from the procedure and I'm young : massive swelling, chemosis eye infection for months, extreme dryness, eyelids unable to close to sleep at night. I have to use eye drops at least 5 times a day, and I have to sleep with my eyes taped (!!) with medical tape at night. My right eye is my biggest issue, It physically bothers me every single day, like something's not right. At this point, I don't care about the look, I just want to FEEL good. I would give anything to go back to my previous eyes. I regret every day that I selected this surgeon for my surgery. Go to a surgeon where, you do not feel rushed, they genuinely care about you, they fully and openly explain you the risks of such a procedure and they care more about the quality of the work than the quantity of patients. I did my due diligence picking Dr Fagien and did he delver! Hands down THE best surgeon, very meticulous and detail oriented. Very particular and deliberate with his approach, pre-op instructions, surgical facility and anesthesiologists, his surgical technique is superb ( I am a doctor I know). My eyes look amazing! Today is less than 24 hours. No pain, virtually no swelling, no blood at all, no crusting. Have not taken single pain killer. Very unflattering results from upper eyelid surgery. I believe this doctor uses old techniques of what people used to want look like years ago. Nobody wants a scooped out trimmed look anymore. Hollowed out my eyelids too much, made my eyes look smaller. Also the scars are visible and don't align with my eye crease. If you want something very subtle and natural this might not be the place. read more

The best decision I ever made was coming to Dr. Fagien! I had a right ptsosis repair done on my upper eyelid and he is a magician with his hands. I was a special case with having different shaped eye folds, different colored eyes AND glaucoma in my right eye. He magically create symmetry in my face (never had before) and matched my eye fold beautifully without any scarring. I had consultations all around South Florida and in San Francisco, CA (where I am from) and ultimately decided on his expertise and I couldn't be happier! So sorry I wasted my time and money on Dr. Steven Fagien and his subpar practice in Boca Raton, Florida. Flew in for a consult. The cheesy office interior was what struck me at first impression followed by the staff having lunch right behind the glassed receptionist area with the pungent odor of whatever they were having filling the reception...not good...guess there is no designated 'lunch room'. Explained that I had an appointment when I was handed a clipboard of papers to fill and told that they are still at lunch. There were two unmasked Russian ladies in the reception area when I arrived.---a medical office with a 'no mask' rule? Guess it was Florida!----As I waited for my 'consult', more patients seem to arrive. ---All were called in as I still waited.---I waited an hour past my appointment time, went to the reception window and was told that I will be seen soon. Explained I had a return flight to catch, which did not seem to concern them. An hour and 45 minutes later after a second reception window visit by me is when I was finally taken in. A lady named Devina came in and seemed to want to kill time with nonsense questions about my name and age and questions that were in front of her on paper in ;black and white'. Explained to her that it is two hours past my appointment and I have a return flight to catch! Dr. Fagien finally walked in and although pleasant in demeanor was rushing through my consult to as he put it: '...help me catch my flight!' He also mentioned at my '10 minute consult' that I am welcome to FT him should I have any questions which at the time I found very nice until I did decide to FT him!--- I was made to jump through hoops and explain why I wanted to FT him?! I also was asked questions on:" When did I see?? him and was it in-person??"---that is right! they actually did NOT know if I was in in-person or not etc.! FT appointment was supposedly set up but guess what ?! It was made for an in-person and NOT a virtual FT visit!----this was obvious when they tried to confirm the visit!---they changed this appt. to a FT after much back and forth and holding on phone! BUT guess what again?! it was cancelled the day before! and they made an excuse that Dr. Fagien has a personal matter. The FT visit date finally came but guess what once again?! Dr. Fagien apparently did NOT want to come to this FT call and wanted to send one of the assistants over...I let them understand I how I felt about this!...He finally came into the FT call and I was able to ask my questions BUT it was alarming to note that he had 'No Clue' what I had consulted him for when I did fly in previously! He apparently had 'incomplete' or 'no notes' on our discussions and only had things down partially!---This along with my experiences up to this point were alarming to say the least! One of Dr. Fagien's practice manager's (Danielle) immediately called me the next day to book my surgery. I explained that I was alarmed that Dr. Fagien did NOT know all that I had consulted him for?!--I also explained that I want to be conservative and booked an appointment for him to first use hyaluronidase to see if it solves some issues prior to any surgery. She booked an appointment which was 3 months away....yesterday they had a Sara call and cancel the appointment over VM... so two weeks before the appointment, and their excuse :...' Dr.Fagien has surgery at that time'...! Bottom line, this subpar practice is "out" for me as a professional myself! Never have I been treated with such disregard as a patient and Never have I come across such a sham of a medical practice!---do NOT trust the obviously solicited and glorified reviews and judge for yourself! Years ago I was recommended to him by a facial plastic surgeon in Miami. Apparently, the Miami MD does the facelifts, some other surgeon does the body surgery and Dr. Fagien does the eyes. Well he did a really bad job on me. One of my eyes was slightly larger than the other and he mixed the 2 up making the larger one bigger and tightening the smaller. He also did a canthopexy which he was, specifically, asked not to do givine me the Asian appearance I did not want. The sutures from the canthopexy had to be cut because they wouldn't "cheese-wire" through the muscles below so I had to wear sunglasses for weeks until the cutting could be done. He also removed too much fat from above corner of 1 lid making it hollow-looking. Beware! I wish that he were as skilled at surgery as he is at convincing people what a nice guy he is. read more

I just had upper eye surgery with Dr. Fagien last week. My husband had lower eye surgery with him 5 weeks ago. I have to say I have never had such great care by a staff and doctor. From the minute we met him for a discussion on what he would do for us he was very professional. The office is very nice. We have never waited in the waiting room because as soon as you come in they take you in. The small hospital they use down the street from his office is THE BEST care I have ever received anywhere! It is professionally run, clean, and they are on top of everything. The staff is so helpful and caring. Waking out of anesthesia you hear talking around you and it's all only about caring for the patients. No personal talking around the room. After the surgery they call you each day to check up on your recovery. My husband even had Dr. Fagien himself call to check up on him. If I ever need or want surgery again I would definitely use Dr. Fagien and Boca Raton Outpatient Surgery and Laser Center again! It was a very easy surgery with no pain and very minimal swelling. I drove 4 hours for an under eye consultation with Dr. Fagien. I have had under eye wrinkles since my early 20's and nothing will get rid of them. Dr. Fagien was honest and said the area I am trying to treat is a very difficult area and surgery would only last maybe a year or two and didn't think it would be worth it. I absolutely love him. He's warm and honest. He knew I was willing to shell out thousands of dollars, but told me to continue with my facials and wait a few years and maybe at that time, we could do something. I have been to plenty of other plastic surgeons, but he is the absolute honest and best at what he does. I'll wait the few years, until 48, and maybe at that point I'll need a little tweaking.
