My then black lab puppy ingested my husbands high blood pressure meds after they were accidentally dropped and couldn't pick them up fast enough. We rushed our pup to the vet and BEGGED THEM to please see her or at least tell us how to induce vomiting so she could have a chance to make it to ER in Bakersfield. They FLAT OUT REFUSED TO HELP I. Any way!! NOT EVEN advice! Miraculously we JUST MAKE IT to ER where they performed life saving procedures and my puppy survived, Second time was a couple of weeks ago. It was a weekend and my son was dog sitting my 2 lb chihuahua when my dog began to choke. Despite everything my son tried, the dog continued to choke on something. I asked him to jump in his car and head to vet in kerville; however, they were closed. So be B-lined it to Isabella while I called ahead of time to inform them he was on his way. The disrespectful receptionist told me they couldn't see my dog. I BEGGED HER and she said there wasn't a vet and the techs were getting ready to walk out the door the for day. MIND YOU, it was 3pm and the vets office didn't close until 4pm. I again begged her to PLEASE ask a texh/vet assistant to wait. My son was 5 minutes away. She told me to take him to ER in Bakersfield. I told her the canyon was closed due to an overturned rig. She coldly told me it was too bad and that she couldn't ask the techs to wait. EVEN THOUGH IT WASNT CLOSING TIME!!! My son arrived at that moment and she just ran to the door and refused to even let him in!!! Meanwhile, I friend was researching things we can do to help my dog, and they gave us instructions and the dog stopped choking. I HATE HATE HATE this office. They DO NOT CARE AT ALL! They cannot even be kind to a pet owner who is trying her best to help her pet. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A VET OFFICE ANY BUSINESS. I had the misfortune to have both incidents when Dr Vicky in Kernville was closed. BUT SHE AND HER STAFF DO CARE! She's a lovely doctor and her staff is equally kind. I hardly EVER write reviews BUT this one needed to be written. I wish I was able to give this a NEGATIVE TEN STAR ! It doesn't even deserve one star.

I use to be a client of this Veterinary , however I do NOT have animals that need constant care. I…read moream able because they are livestock , to take care of a lot of issues myself, so it has been a couple of years since my animals have been seen by this team. How SAD it was today to get a phone call from them, stating that well, we can NOT come out to you for an emergency visit, and to go or call my vet that I have been using since the last time they were here. I have not used any other vet, as there aren't any I had trusted or are available within our area, and besides, she was MY vet. Look I know there are limited resources, and I get that they are severely under staffed, but come on now, be reasonable. It was almost as if she was excited to call me out on not utilizing them more recently. How hateful of her. I had always left a perfect review for this vet, however, I am now choosing to only leave one star. I do not have horses, or expensive livestock, but I do have pigs, and goats, and they were always such a great help. I even took my pigs, and goats to HER office. Shame, shame, shame on this vet for not looking at my PAST relationship with them, and allowing for that to speak for itself. She didn't even bother to ask me what was the issue, as to possibly help over the phone, but I guess that was too much to expect.

That being said, my experiences have always been very positive. My dogs are 3 years old now and I have been taking them to this clinic since they were around 10 weeks old. The staff has always been extremely friendly and accommodating -- you see, I have difficult dogs that hate being handled by strangers. They growl and fight and need to be muzzled, despite being stoned on Trazodone, and despite my best efforts at socializing them since puppyhood. I can't thank the people at this clinic enough for putting up with my pups and I hope their patience never runs out!

In Oct of 2025 in the afternoon one of my dogs started having severe stomach issues. I called VCA…read morean asked if I could bring her in and that I thought it was an emergency as the dog was shivering. They turned me down flat, even though I'd been a regular customer for years. I ended up taking my dog to Bishop, CA which is around 100 miles away. The vet there stayed late, did a thorough exam and gave a shot and meds. Subsequently I said, no more VCA. However the other day my wife made an appointment for nail clipping at VCA for both dogs and a sanitary trim of one of my dogs. When I arrived, I was informed they were understaffed and wouldn't do the sanitary trim. They then took each dog away for 10 minutes, brought them back and said they 'd clipped the nails. I then paid the bill of 76 dollars, got in my car and drove home. When there, I examined each dog. There was no evidence of anyone having clipped nails on either dog. At this point, I just don't feel I can trust VCA with the health and wellbeing of my dogs, and as a result, I'm not having anything to do with them.

I won't be back; I'll drive to Palmdale rather than get charged more money for less of a job and have my dog injured.

They can get extremely busy and it has gotten a little more challenging to get an appointment but I always commend the level of care and customer service we get from this place. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They are also really good at following up on upcoming appointments or vaccinations due to make sure your pets are up-to-date. If you are looking for a vet center, as much as I'd like to gatekeep them, this is the place to be. Highly recommend them!

Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and consistency from the front office staff…read moreat Thurman Veterinary Clinic. I called around 8:30 a.m. this morning to establish care for my two French Bulldogs and was told that they were accepting new patients but it would be a month out. The receptionist began collecting my information to create patient charts, discussed scheduling appointments for June, and was in the process of preparing the required $40 per pet appointment hold fee when the call was disconnected. When I called back later, a different receptionist informed me that the clinic was not accepting new patients and that I would not be able to establish care there. When I explained that another staff member had literally begun the intake process and was preparing to collect payment for appointments, I was simply told, "I don't know, but we're not taking new patients." The complete lack of communication and consistency was incredibly frustrating. Based on the glowing reviews, I expected a much more professional and organized experience. While I cannot speak to the quality of the veterinary care itself, the customer service and handling of front-office communication left a very poor first impression.
