I called and was told I would be charged $275 a cat. I have since been told by several rescues to stay away from fosters that charge fees.

Rude lady comes to take a look at them just to say she can not take them in due to them being "sick". Mind you this lady isn't even a vet or technician. They were going to charge me $30 a piece for each of them to intake them. Lady suggested to take them to KCAS instead not knowing they'll probably get killed there and possibly not get adopted.Very unprofessional. Wanting to diagnose these babies without running test or even being certified to say exactly what's going on.Do not come here, waste of time, and clearly only want your money, makes sense coming from a non-profit organization.

It's a little difficult to get ahold of this place over the phone, but once you do, they only take same day appointments & you have to call on the day you want to visit + hope that there are free appointments. We visited to view cats and were helped shortly after arriving. According to the front desk, if the animal that you're interested in picking up has already been spayed, you can take them home the same day! Or, if they have been, they either try to get them spayed/neutered the next day, or by Tuesdays (as those are their spay/neuter days). We unexpectedly found the perfect little baby to take home, 20 minutes, a bit of paper work + calls to my apartment complex and $100 later, we were given all the paper work / vaccine records + a bag of kitten kibble! Make sure to bring your own carrier if you're really looking to pick up a furry friend on the same day. The only thing I didn't like was finding out afterwards that our little boy hadn't finished his course of vaccines. A friend of mine has adopted cats from an SPCA before & because they hadn't finished having their vaccines, they were able to go in to the facility to finish off their booster shots free of cost.

I somehow got so lucky and found my little Mimi who is a full breed Yorkshire Terrier. I found her…read moreon adoptapet available at the Culver City pet smart through Shay's Strays. So many people were looking at her and wanted her that there was a lottery system where we all put our names onto sheets of paper and the first name called got first pick so it was fair and no one could get upset. Many of these puppies were adopted. At the time, Mimi was 1 of 2 full breed yorkies. She already had her first round of shots so we only had to get her 2 more parvo, etc. My experience here was excellent. Adoption costs were $850 with $50 refund if you can prove later down the line that your pup got spayed. After I spayed Mimi I showed proof that I obtained from our vet and got my refund from Shay's Strays. This was one of the best decisions of my life. Mimi is so incredibly well behaved, so smart, and I almost feel like Shay's Strays taught her how to sit and come here before I got her or she's just an incredibly smart yorkie. She also already knew her name! My fiance and I couldn't find it in our hearts to rename her because her ears already perked up to Mimi. I really do feel like they took really good care of their rescues here. Either way, I consider myself so so lucky and I cannot imagine my life without my little Mimi. Very very grateful for this place and highly recommend if you're in the LA area or in Culver City to please rescue your future best friend from here. Thank you!! I honestly feel like my life has been more fulfilled since we got Mimi from here.
