My home warranty provider set us up with Kern Key to re-key our home. Angel called when he was on his way. Showed up on time. Dressed professionally, also wore a mask. He was AWESOME! Angel took the time to explain what he was going to do and how long it would take. Explained that extra keys would cost $2. No biggie and totally worth it! He was efficient and pleasant and I would definitely recommend him to my friends and family. read more

They were hired by my property manager to add a deadbolt to a garage hinged side door above the existing original doorknob/lock assembly that was to remain. I did not want this to be removed. The added deadbolt was to be installed above the original knob/lock. Kern instead did unauthorized actions. Kern completely violated the agreement and instruction, and stole my original doorknob/lock and will not return it to me, and will not even return my requests for a contact back, with these requests coming from both me and from the maintenance supervisor with the property management company. They must return my property to me that they never should have stolen, and another company will have to correct all of this as per my original instructions that never should have been violated. Update Oct 28 2025: This company refuses to return the stolen item, and is not addressing the other issues which include but are not limited to the fact that they "deviated" from the instructions and terms of the work order at their own whim, and did so without the required contact to the property manager for owner approval of any possible changes. Update Oct 29: KK continues to not explain why they discarded the perfectly working original doorknob after wrongfully removing it, all of which they did in defiance of the work order, and without authorization, why they stole the owner's property, why they did not follow the work order instructions and terms of contacting the management company supervisor as agreed if there were any issues or questions, and the solution offer has been declined for weeks and they do nothing to address the issues that they continue to ignore. read more

Like others have said, my home warranty provider set us up with Kern Key Services to re-key our home. I gave the wrong information over the phone and they were able to quickly adjust and make sure I had everything I needed. Their locksmith reviewed what the house had and let me know my options, including the most economical, and what wouldn't be covered by the home warranty provider. We had patio doors that wouldn't latch properly and he spent the time to make sure we knew how to correctly operate the three point door lock and get the doors to lock. It was a little more than expected, but the excellent service more than made up for it. Quite happy to have one more "to do" marked as "done". read more

Got connected with them randomly via our home warranty company to change all of our locks. It was a smooth experience! They called promptly to schedule a service, explained what was covered and how to pay for anything excess. Their locksmith, Angel, was completely professional and efficient. Changed seven locks in less than half an hour! I would definitely recommend Kern. read more

We used Kern Key to replace our front door hardware and he did a wonderful job of it. We showed him a photo of what we wanted and he found a close enough set at the right price, which we agreed upon. Once he had it in hand he let us know and we set up a time for installation which happened on time and efficiently. As he was getting ready to leave, I heard a mini-vac, and it was him cleaning up. How nice is that? Thanks so much! We'll be using him again. read more

Great customer service is hard to come by these days, but that is exactly what you will get with them. They are friendly, honest, trustworthy, and timely. I used them in 2018 to re-key a condo, and just rebooked them to re-key a single family home. Different locksmiths and both were 10/10 on every level. I highly recommend them to everyone. Thank you Kern Key fam!! read more

Exceptional, professional and prompt service. They were able to repair an older lock mechanism, saving us hundreds of replacing it with new hardware. We were also happy to have their service recommended via our home insurance plan for a re-key after move-in, re-keying all of locks in less than an hour. I'm also having them back to help with an electronic lock install. I would recommend them to everyone I know, and look forward to working with them again. read more
