I cannot say enough about the quality, professionalism and workmanship of Kerley Construction. They were hired to do a total foundation rebuild of our outdoor back patio to our apartment building in the Sunset. The patio sits on a slope on sandy soil which made the job even more difficult to deal with. Danny was our contractor, but, when necessary, his brother Pat and their dad John would also come by to assist. The work began in August and concluded by January. This job required many inspections and sign-offs from the City, the special inspections company, and both the structural and geotechnical engineers. No small feat coordinating the timing for everyone to show up in order to proceed with scheduling the huge flatbeds delivering 18-foot caissons, cement trucks, etc. There was always total transparency. My husband and my stress levels were so high since the retaining walls and patio were failing and in danger of giving way. But Danny was always calm and collected in his demeanor which kept us calm and collected. He would always explain to us in lay terms about what was happening, why it was happening, and when it was happening. He and his main worker Luis were always on top of maintaining the cleanliness of the worksite. We have rarely seen a worksite so well kept. They also kept our neighbors' walkways clean on a daily basis. Whenever the cement trucks would arrive, Danny would make sure the car next to our driveway would be well covered with a tarp so that no cement spray would get on it. The main thing we appreciated about Danny was once he saw something wasn't right, he would let you know and how it could/should be remedied. We had a few issues with the inside of the garage with rotting support beams, the drain pipe elevation being higher than expected, rotted walls from the neighboring hillside's dirt coming inside, and other unexpected problems. No worries. They were always corrected along the way. He wasn't the lowest nor the highest priced bid we got, but we definitely got the care and quality we paid for - and more! At the end, I believe we wound up ahead by using him since he saved us money, headaches and future problems down the road. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews here. I feel they may be neighbors who didn't like their parking spaces taken up or dealing with all the trucks. On our job, there was one neighbor who constantly called the City re parked trucks but we had permits for everything. Can you imagine our contractor having to come out of the hole where the cement was actively being poured and having to come out to deal with the city inspector over parking when there were signs posted allowing for the trucks to be parked? Of course, nothing happened. As for the flatbeds delivering the huge tractors to dig up the soil, the caissons, or what have you. As soon as they were done unloading, they would leave immediately to another job site. That's just the momentary inconvenience caused when this type of work is going on. The job was done close to the estimated time given. One important piece of information. Danny would ALWAYS return our calls that same day or the next day if he was very busy. He would always return texts and emails too. The most frustrating aspect of any job is not getting returned calls. That was not the case with us.
