Let me start off by saying that we don't enjoy writing a bad review for someone. It's not our…read morenature. This is a first. The work that was performed by AC Contracting was poor, and the care to surrounding structures was non-existent. As you will see in the photographs, the work should have been done with more care. First, let me say that the job was never completed. They never came back to clean up the forms and garbage they left behind. As for the forms of the walls, many were concreted in -- some still stuck, for hard access to the concrete that needs to be broken. I believe they probably have to be drilled and broken out, which is unprofessional and shouldn't be necessary. There are spots on the concrete that are dark and filled with dirt. And those spots are falling apart and causing pits in the concrete, which will need to be repaired. There are some large cracks throughout the concrete. And there are also large darker sections of the concrete that are mixed lightly with dirt, and those are also falling apart. The house and surrounding fence was splashed with concrete. A lot of it can just be scrapped off. But as the photos show, there is chisel and saw work that needs to be done. Likely, staining the fence would prove spotty. As far as the contractor, he didn't seem to care much about the job at all. He never even came back to inspect the work and demonstrate the professionalism you're looking for in a contractor. He told us multiple times he would pull the forms and haul them away. This work was never performed. Therefore, I wouldn't refer, or recommend AC Contracting. They've left us with a frustrating mess, and one we shouldn't have to deal with. Truth be told: If AC Contracting would have pulled the forms and hauled them away (like we were told they would be), this negative feedback would not have been written. We could have overlooked the other stuff as we were planning on coating the patio anyway.

Robert knows slopes and levels inside and out; I'm knowlegeable about construction, but I had a hard time following; I asked lots of questions, and then checked out all the lines and grades for myself. Even on the day of the pour, Robert was willing to accommodate adjustments. They told me to trust them, but concrete is one case where any mistakes are literally set in stone. And, I don't trust yelp reviews completely because most people don't know enough about construction to know if things are done right even after the fact. (I'm not the easiest person to work for.) I've done many, many concrete jobs before (foundations, retaining walls, slabs, underpinning...) but I've never had any concrete contractor as experienced, knowledgeable and particular about quality. Seeing this team work together during the pour was a thing of beauty. With concrete you have to work fast and they were like a well oiled machine. Everyone knew their part and did it. Their price was competitive and their work was above the competition by a long shot.

We needed a repair on our driveway concrete apron, and he handled the entire project flawlessly from start to finish. Here is why we highly recommend him: Punctual & Hardworking: Mr. Jingles arrived right on time and worked tirelessly all day. Meticulous Craftsmanship: He was incredibly careful about doing things right the first time rather than rushing. The quality of the finished concrete speaks for itself. Mr. Jingles even got the color of the new concrete apron to be similar to our driveway. Value: The price he quoted to repair the driveway apron was much more attractive than the quotes we got to replace it. How long the repair will last will be the real judge, but we feel good about how things turned out. Neighbor-Friendly: He was super courteous and friendly to neighbors walking by during the job. Lightning Fast: The entire project took less than two days from start of work to finish, which even included getting final sign-off from the SF DPW Inspector without a hitch! Great Personality: Beyond his fantastic work ethic, Mr. Jingles is just a delightful person to chat with and be around. I didn't expect our discussion on art history and the use of light and shadow. :-) Thank you, Mr. Jingles!

It's everything around that which was challenging. When they originally came to scope the project out we explicitly talked about some extra things - but then at the end of the job they said they actually weren't in scope and wanted me to pay extra. Then, when I held back on paying the final bill until that was resolved, they unwarned put a mechanic's lien on our house. Also I'm nervous about their billing setup generally - it got hacked last year and I almost got scammed out of $11k. And during the job itself, they had to take the crew off of our job for an "emergency" somewhere else, leaving a big gap where there wasn't any progress while we had an active construction site at our house. I understand some level of scheduling issues but this was really frustrating. So overall, I'd say all of this put a really bad taste in my mouth, and I'd be really torn on whether to work with them again. The work was tremendous but I can live without surprise interruptions and liens on my house.
