Good quality work and value. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the on-sight crew: I recommend better oversight of a handful of their crew. Some of their crew decided to take a day off and go to a ball game which delayed/impacted the critical part of treating the hot surface while asphalt was still hot. Didn't finish it that day, and when it was finished it's result is not the same as if it was treated while asphalt was hot. A careless crew member left permanent boot marks on treated surface. All could have been avoided with better oversight/training of crew. I don't fault the company since good help is so hard to find these days. I still give them 5 starts.

After the initial consultation with Luis, Andre provided a detailed quote with breakdown of all the items, labor cost, and materials. Their quote is not the cheapest but definitely the longest. I like how the quote had all the cost breakdown and specifics regarding choice of materials and scope of work. Another thing I wanted to highlight is the fact that Andre was able to propose something creative and different to enhance our existing design, so that we ended up with multi-tier retaining walls and re-using a lot of the existing boulders on the side. Our project involved a lot of demo / excavation on a steep hillside, building a large paved deck with railing + steps up and down. From start from finish, the crew worked every single weekday from 8am sharp to 5pm. There is no playing loud music, no messing around during lunch time, just super organized hard work and impeccable work ethic. Due to the difficulty to access the backyard, everything was done by hand, and the end result came out amazing. To our surprise, the entire project took LESS than two months! What a transformation! We look forward to hiring them for more work in the future.

I scheduled an appointment with GCSF for an on-site estimate. About 10 minutes after the scheduled…read moreappointment time, I received a call from the office saying the estimator had arrived, spoken with the residents, and then left. The problem was that I had been waiting at the correct location the entire time. Before the appointment, I had both verbally and in writing asked them to make sure they did **not** go to a different address in another town. The receptionist confirmed that the estimator had gone to the wrong address and assured me he would come to the correct one. Unfortunately, after waiting another hour, I never heard from the estimator or the office. My attempts to call the office also went unanswered. At that point, it became clear that no one was coming and no one was going to let me know. Mistakes happen, but what disappointed me most was the lack of communication and professionalism. GCSF wasted more than 90 minutes of my time and couldn't extend the courtesy of a simple phone call or update. Based on this experience, I can't recommend them.

A couple of years ago they helped me with a smaller concrete project, and I was so impressed by their professionalism and craftsmanship that I knew I would reach out again when it came time to redo my entire backyard. From the very beginning, Eric stood out for his clear communication and honesty. His quote was very fair compared to other contractors I contacted, but what really made a difference was how much thought he put into the design and planning. My backyard was in pretty bad shape -- uneven ground, cracked areas, and even a section near a retaining wall that wasn't very stable. Eric carefully looked at every problem and came up with creative, affordable, and effective solutions. He never tried to upsell or rush decisions. Instead, he made sure I fully understood each option, and he adjusted the plan to fit both my budget and my vision. During the construction, Eric and his dad worked with incredible efficiency and attention to detail. Every single day, they arrived on time, worked hard, and cleaned up so thoroughly before leaving that I could barely tell it was an active construction site. That level of care and respect for a client's home is rare and deeply appreciated. The final result completely transformed my backyard -- the concrete surface is smooth, solid, and beautifully leveled. They even paid attention to the small finishing touches that many contractors might overlook. The project was completed right on schedule, exactly as promised. Eric and his father are honest, reliable, and take great pride in their work. You can tell they truly care about doing the job right, not just getting it done. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire them again or recommend them to anyone who needs high-quality concrete work. They're the kind of people you feel lucky to find -- hardworking, trustworthy, and genuinely good at what they do.

Here's the backstory: Our old retaining wall was gradually falling over. We got some engineering…read moredrawings done up for a replacement wall, and we requested quotes from several different contractors. Why we chose Burch Brothers: Burch Bros were very competitive in just about every way with our other potential contractors, but without any major drawbacks. He was not the cheapest, but he didn't miss appointments nor reschedule multiple times like the cheaper guys did. They weren't the biggest company with hundreds of satisfied customers, but those guys made us feel like our job wasn't important to them. Burch Bros seemed to be "just right." Getting the work done: From the first time I called Bob Peek at Burch Bros, he had stopped by and reviewed the project, answered my questions, and got me a quote for the job all within a week. The day after I gave him the engineering drawings, we had a permit from the city to start work. From the day work started to the day they finished pouring concrete was just over two weeks (it was a pretty good-sized wall, plus they had to re-do the walkway along the wall). After the concrete had cured, we had the city's approval the next day. They worked rather short days, from maybe 9am to 2pm, but I was always amazed at how far the work would progress in just those few hours! Overall, I'd have to say that they were very efficient with their time. Bob was very easy to communicate with during the project, and he did a good job of calling me every few days to give me a status update.

We are happy w/ the new driveway but my kudos go to Bob for keeping us apprised all along the way and allowing us quickly back into the queue after the last minute decision to switch the order of our 2 pjcts - great customer service!

Hire Rafael if you want perfection and to work with a great guy…read more Rafael and his team did an incredible job on my brick stairs in the front of my house. Several steps had buckled due to tree roots and fixing it was an involved job. Not only did my steps need to be demo'd, but the original bricks needed to be preserved since they're no longer made in that size. The next step required large tree roots to be dug up and cut out. Finally the bricks had to be cleaned of the old mortar before being used to rebuild the steps. A lot of masons couldn't handle this because they either didn't have the skill for the demo or didn't want to bother with the detail required to preserve the bricks. Rafael was not only willing, but he also had the skill and attention to detail needed to do this job and at a competitive price. During the project he worked with me and was extremely accommodating with my feedback and requests. Not once did he ever give me an attitude or show any signs of being annoyed with my requests. I would have understood if he had though because I was being very particular about how the steps were done. He told me he understood because I'd be going up and down these steps every day and anything that felt off or wasn't done to my satisfaction would be a constant reminder and a daily source of frustration. When they were done, the steps are amazing and perfect. It would be difficult to tell that they weren't originally done with the house. I'm very happy with how they turned out every time I walk on them. Rafael and his team also did an amazing job cleaning up which included a power wash of the steps; an unexpected but welcome surprise. I'd hire Rafael and his team again without hesitation. He holds himself to a high standard so the job is done right and he genuinely isn't happy unless you are too. How great is that! Thanks Rafael!
