Recently stopped here while I was in the Hudson area with family and friends. This place was absolutely cool to check out. This place had tons of people here and a great warm atmosphere here as well . The restrooms here were okay. The layout of the restroom was a bit odd just because it's a long hallway with a random urinal around the corner and then the random toilet around the other corner. There were plenty of seats here too nonetheless so expect this place to be busy on weekends. They have non-alcoholic drinks too for those that have to be the designated of driver. Always recommend parking behind the building in the parking lot unless it's a really slow. Prices here weren't too bad either. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out for a casual visit. read more

One of my favorite places in Hudson. They have retro style ambiance with lights and pictures covering the walls and ceilings, everywhere you look has a piece of history. The food is always so good here, and our go to order is splitting their buffalo chicken egg roll appetizers which are HUGE. We accidentally fill up on them every time and are full by the time our entrees come so be warned! Our server was super nice, it was her first day and she crushed it. My husband and I always used to eat here the wings were good also loved their black bean burgers. One day we came in and not sure if this normal behavior but the managers mood swings made it incredibly uncomfortable and we weren't even sure if it was worth staying. The manager went off on a tangent voicing very disturbing comments towards women. People vaping while we're eating and when we asked why she simply said " well it's their prerogative to vape!" My husband has heart issues we're not going to eat where people are smoking and certainly not going to support a restaurant to be insulted. Too many other restaurants we can try and support where they actually care about their customers. read more

I've been coming to Kepner's for over 40 years and dinner last night was one of the best meals I've ever had here. Lilly has done an excellent job revamping the menu. I chose the hot Italian sub with a side of sweet potato fry's and will say BEST fry's and and sub I've had in years! My wife chose the chicken quesadilla which was again outstanding..Kep'is always crowded and loud but hit it last night with perfect timing. Found a seat very quickly and Lilly provided excellent service to us.. We will be back soon !! It's worth the trip! read more

"Hudson's other landmark!" Celebrating their 100 year anniversary this year, Kepners is a very special place. The inside walls are covered in local black and white photos significant to Cleveland, Akron, Hudson and other history. The wooden tables and mismatched chairs and plates provide a quirky, comforting, casual feel. The food does not disappoint. Extensive beer and wine menu! Some of my favorite meals include the "Garbage burger," the Rueben sandwich, fish and chips, and today I had a ham and gruyere melt (a special). All are great choices! read more

Went in this tavern, in the middle of the week, for a drink after work. It was the week before thanksgiving and they had put up all the Christmas light already. It was way too much decorations and they are unfortunately not matching... was too overwhelming. We didn't try any food, just a glass of wine and a beer. bartendar was nice and efficient !! Nice draft beer selection.. it ended up my 2 beers cost more than my salad! I live 10 miles away...only to discover they sent the WRONG dressing ! and no plasticware with a to go order. Ugg not good after spending 30.00.... and leaving a nice tip. Seriously if you are going to name a salad after a city I have lived in ............it should have been smothered in fries ( which are cheap) and the cheddar cheese should have melted on top of the hot fries and nice chicken strips. Second time here and I'm trying to think of the positive. Still thinking. Losing concentration. Ok, well, it's a neighborhood hole in the wall...in the middle of downtown Hudson. Here's the positives: The location is more than convenient. They have a patio. It's a bar. Where I have issues is the service to non-regular customers. I get that it's a hole in the wall, but you're likely to have a wide variety of people stopping in. I've eaten and drank at this establishment. I tried a jambalaya special one time, and my mistake for trying a jambalaya from Kenner's. Drinking there was a slightly better experience, but we had to go in to the bar inside to get drinks for the patio. So the space has potential, but maybe not at Kepner's. read more

Not the same kepners most are used to. Still the best local bar to drink and converse with locals. Food and Service have gone down hill. We went again on Friday and had to tip the waiter really good. There was 1 bartender, 1 waiter, owner was in the kitchen and place was packed. Felt bad. Will be taking a few months off and hope things get back to the old kepners. They had the place literally packed shoulder to shoulder the night before Thanksgiving. No social distancing. Staff not wearing masks, customers not wearing masks.... I came in through the back and it was impossible to even get through to the inside bar. Way to potentially kill your customers. They also magically came up with some Christmas drinks almost identical to the ones the Restaurant next door came up with a few weeks earlier. That's kind of shady too. Nice little neighborhood style bar and grill in downtown Hudson. The appetizers are your generic bar food, good but not great. Their burgers are pretty tasty, and they do cook them to order. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It's a good break from some of the finer, pricier restaurants in Hudson, and has a very welcoming feel. read more

Kepner's has been around for ages. In fact, it's where my Grandpa used to go grab a scotch with his pals back in the 40's. While I'm sure he would hardly recognize the place if he were alive today, I imagine that other than the multitude of flat screen TVs, the layout hasn't changed all that much. It's small, so I can see why it would get very crowded. Still, I came in on a business trip and stopped by to visit the town where I had spent many a summer vacation as a kid, and mad a special effort to check out a place with a ton of history. It was packed, as there was a Thursday NFL game on, but I managed to get beers with little difficulty. Didn't try the food, but there seemed to be a bunch of folks enjoying standard American bar fare. read more

Should have snapped a picture of the menu as I can't recall the name of the fabulous burger is had. Cooked to temp on a brioche bun with garlic aioli, gruyere cheese, and sweated red onion. Been here several times for drinks when in Hudson. Our last visit was a little odd. Ordered and paid for drinks from the bar with the intention of sitting outside. There was no room outside or in the bar area so we were forced to sit in the dark dining room. Sat at a table with a mop and bucket for our neighbor and then were completely ignored by every employee for at least 30 minutes. Ended up leaving (unnoticed) and went to a different bar in Hudson to eat and drink. Maybe the dining room was closed? Maybe our invisibility cloaks worked at last? If you want my hard earned money, maybe ignoring customers is not the ideal way to get it. read more

My husband and I went here for date night last Saturday and had an awful experience! It was almost empty inside yet service was very slow and the staff wasn't too friendly. For a Saturday night I expected a crowd but obviously there are other places people were going to and now we see why. We ordered the antipasti for an appetizer and they ran out so we went with the house fries. My husband and I both agreed they were way too salty, I actually got sodium burns on my tongue from them! They had no cocktail menu to browse and the waitress we initially had ignored us when we asked for refills. We wanted to leave then and there when we also noticed other patrons were getting up and walking out but stayed and paid the bill, which was also not without a headache as they could not find our order. We love Hudson but will NOT be returning to this location in the future!! read more

A really old tavern - 100 yrs according to our server. It has a nice patio in the back with lots of flowers. We opted to stay inside since it was 90 deg the day we were there. It's not really a standout as there are plenty of other cute places in town. read more

Love this place. Bar tender was excellent. I ordered a 16 oz. Kentucky bourbon barrel ale and it was excellent. I love that beer. For lunch I had 6 buttermilk ranch wasabi wings. Excellent tasting wings. I love the old time feel when you walk into this place. read more

Great beer and food. Mostly bar type food but the place has a lot of nostalgia because of its proximity to Western Reserve. We sat at Stretch's table. Great place but they need some type of sound absorbing material because the noise bounces around abdominal it's difficult to talk and carry on a conversation in a normal tone. Came here after a super long day of work with a friend who lives in the Hudson area. From the outside, it looks pretty out of place in Hudson--tinted windows? A bit run down? Not your usual Hudson. But inside it was well-lit, clean, and welcoming. The bar was half full with individuals and there were a few groups there, but we were able to grab a table right away. Lots of tv's showing the Indians game, which I always appreciate :) The waiter saw us right away and even though he wasn't able to take our orders immediately, he let us know he'd be over soon. He was very helpful in picking out their beers--I'd say they had about 15 and nothing too out of the ordinary on tap, but a decent summer selection, including a few wheat beers and a cider--and offering his opinion on the options. My friend decided to get the Garbage burger, the special of the night, and I snagged The Unreserved. We split onion rings and sweet potato fries as sides. BURGERS WERE GREAT. Greasy, a bit sloppy, could barely fit it in my mouth, and served on a pretzel bun. I regretted it at 3am, but I gobbled that burger down and it was the tastiest burger I've eaten in a while. The cook actually listened to me when I asked for it rare, too! My friend ended up having to eat some of his cheese with a fork, there was so much on the burger. And while the onion rings were kind of so-so, the sweet potato fries were fabulous. Absolutely addicting. I don't know if ownership has changed since the other reviewers were here, but I'd say this place was pretty fabulous. It's not your typical Hudson spot, but it's definitely family friendly, young-adult friendly, and dads-escaping-the-house friendly. Second conservative Monday here for burgers. This was usually a reliable stop for a great burger, but last (week) Monday was a little off and (giving the benefit of the doubt) yesterday was way off. Clock Tower burger medium was cooked to a fair-thee-well both times, and yesterday it was minus the Bleu cheese with a half strip of bacon and cold grilled onions. Everything one should never do to a burger. Assualt! Won't go back if they think people will accept this. Too bad, it's really convenient right in the middle of town (Hudson). No happy hour and tall pours (20 ozs) are $7. Sorry, too many other good spots in the Valley and Falls to stop here. read more

When you think oh Hudson, Ohio you think "a quaint little slice of Americana, where the people are friendly and the food is made with just a little more care." Kepner's Tavern in Hudson is none of that. Immediately upon entering this hole in the wall bar my instincts shouted "GET OUT!" But I we were already seen by the "hostess" and I guess my wife and I didn't want to hurt their feelings. Big mistake. The staff was as unfriendly as could be. Basic questions about the menu couldn't be answered. I ordered the Buckeye Burger which is a burger with cheese, bacon, onion rings and barbecue sauce. I asked if it also came with lettuce and tomato and the waitress immediately left to go ask. What she would have known, if she bothered to ask me, was that I didn't want it on there, so all she really had to do was put on the ticket, "No Lettuce or Tomato" Bottom line: The place is dingy and musty. The service is slow and awkward and the food was bad. The burger was over cooked as was the bacon. There was one onion ring on my burger and there was so little BBQ sauce, my mouth about dried up like a dew drop in the Mohave. Oh yeah.. Even the Pepsi was terrible. I had to take three sips before I could tell if the pop was bad or if they brought me the wrong pop altogether. Save yourself the aggravation and avoid this place like the plague. read more

Went today for lunch with out of town visitors who wanted to see a local place. Received friendly/prompt service and the food was better than expected. It is a pub with local character that serves simple food and is a good experience with that in mind. Fun to visit. read more
